Kabir yells @ Sushma, and runs to the road and pulls her away from the truck, saving her. He asks her whether she's gone mad, and what she was up to? Sushma is dazed, and collapses into his arms, and cries. Kabir calls Jyoti and tells her that Sushma is w/ him. Deepu looks annoyed to hear this š” while the others are surprised. Kabir then cuts the call, and Padma demands to know what Sushma is doing w/ Kabir. (Flashbacks of Brij?)
Kabir takes Sushma to a roadside stall, and gives her water, and orders a tea for her. He tells her that he understands that she has some problems due to which she stays w/ her parents, but whatever they are, suicide is not the answer. Sushma tells him that she wasn't trying to commit suicide, and is thankful to him for saving her. She says that she was worried about something and therefore unmindful that there was a truck headed her way. Kabir apologizes for misunderstanding her, and asks her if he can ask her a personal question. He asks her where her hubby is. She tells him that he's in jail for beating her up. Since then, she lives w/ her parents.
In his room, Brij is drinking away, and @ the height of his drunkenness, is pissed that all girls seem to cheat him š Angrily, he knocks off the entire table, making a mess on the floor. He yells that nobody came to see him in jail (Poor baby!!! But it was you that said that money is your entire family to your pyare Bhairavi, so why mope now?) He's pissed that everybody is motivated (by money) when they deal w/ him. 𤣠He sits down and has a brief introspective moment, where he wonders whether he too is one of them. (No shit, Sherlock!!!) Suddenly, he hears the crying of a kid outside. He is infuriated, and yells, who is it who won't let him even drink in peace? He opens the door and sees a woman sitting w/ her son, and the kid is crying. The mother tells the kid that when his dad returns, they'll go to the doctor. Brij yells @ the woman asking her to shut the kid up. The mom tells him that the kid is feeling sick, and Brij tells her to take him to a doctor, instead of having him cry there and chew Brij's head. The mom tells him that they'll go as soon as his dad is back w/ the money needed for the doctor's visit, and asks her kid to be quiet. Brij explodes again and accuses the woman of being after money, just like everybody else. He pulls out some cash from his pocket and throws it @ her, telling her to get lost. The woman warns him against insulting her kid like that, and said that she would get her kid treated, but not w/ his money, and throws it back @ him. š She tells him that he didn't have a wife or kid of his own, which is why he was behaving like this (actually, thank god Sushma was no longer w/ him: imagine the abuse both she and her baby would have had to put up w/ from Brij) She tells him that one day, he too would get old, get sick but there's be no one to even give him water. And that day, he'd remember his family. Brij slams the door.
The bell rings, and Kabir is back @ the Sharmas w/ Sushma. Padma hugs her, asks her where she was and whether she was okay. Jyoti turns to Kabir & beckons him, and KK too asks him to come in, and not just stand @ the doorway. Deepu & Padma stare @ him, and Sushma tells them that it's only b'cos of Kabir that she's still alive. š She tells them that she was walking down the road, quite unmindful, and that a truck came near her and would have hit her, but Kabir saved her @ the last minute. Dadi thanks Kabir profusely, telling him that he was like a guardian angel to them, but Kabir tells her that he's human and wants to stay that way. Dadi tells him that humans become humane by their good deeds. KK folds his hands but Kabir urges him not to embarrass him. Padma asks Poonam to make a tea for him. She apologizes to Kabir for ever saying anything that hurt him (I suppose better late than never) Kabir tells them that they're embarrassing him by repeatedly thanking him. Deepu thanks him, and Kabir tells him that his dialog was all that remained š Deepu also apologizes for what he told him the other day, and Kabir tells him that rescuing Sushma was the work of the almighty, and he was just a viewer. He cracks a joke (I couldn't make out what it was), and they all smile. He asks them why they are so serious, and threatens to flee the spot and never return if anyone said sorry or thank you. šš Even grumpy ole Padma starts laughing. (I had no idea she had that ability) She promises him that nobody will say anything, but he does have to eat before he leaves.
Jyoti's phone rings, and it's Sudha. She asks Jyoti not to take Pankaj's harsh words too hard, telling him that nowadays, he's very worried. (Where is CM when you need her? Why is Sudha trying to mend fences b/w Pankaj & Jyoti, when the former is re-married?) Jyoti asks why, and Sudha tells her that on one hand, he remembers her, and then struggles w/ himself. Jyoti tells her that what he's doing is not wrong, but he's under a wrong impression, for which she herself is responsible (in which case, let go of him - he's remarried!!!) She says that she doesn't mind him hating her, she just wants him to be happy. She asks Sudhi whether she gave him her gift, but Sudha didn't, seeing his condition yesterday: she'll do so today.
Sudha then walks into Pankaj's room w/ Jyoti's gift - a blue scarf - and gives it to him. She tells him that Jyoti sent it for his b'day. She gets up and leaves, and Pankaj asks her to thank Jyoti on his behalf. Sudha tells him that he can do that himself, can't he? She said that since Jyoti didi is not allowed to come there, she sent it via her. She tells him that despite the changes in the relationship, Jyoti still respects him and prays for him. Then she leaves (I really wish Sudha would stop trying to bring about any reconciliation b/w Jyoti & Pankaj, and instead encourage Jyoti to move on).
After the meal, Kabir remarks that finally he's been fed by aunty. Dadi tells him that he has to have paan next, and he tells her that he doesn't eat paan (why does Dadi feel the need to force paan on guys who don't have it, like Uday, Kabir? š What's next - zarda?) Dadi asks him why, and Kabir tells him that he's a chatterbox who can't keep his mouth shut, that's why (that's as good a reason as any š) They all smile, and Padma accepts it, but tells him to keep coming, since she needs to talk to him. KK looks @ her surprised. Kabir asks her to tell him, but she tells Kabir to come back for kheer, and she'll tell him then. He gets up to leave, and Padma asks Jyoti to go and escort him out. He tells Sushma to take care of herself, and blows Dadi his signature kiss š Kabir & Jyoti leave, and Deepu & Dadi tell all that they are tired, and everyone retires.
KK asks Padma how is it that today, her entire view of Kabir has changed? Padma turns to him, smiling, and tells him that she knew that he'd ask her that question. He saved her daughter's life, so now Padma needs KK's permission to thank him? KK asks her what's the important topic for which she's invited him again? Padma tells him that Jyoti told her that he is influential, and that he brings shows for Jyoti's dance group; therefore, she was thinking of asking Kabir to find a job for Deepu. KK remarks to himself that it took him a while to figure that out, and then tells Padma that rather than go thru all these complications, simply allow Deepu to work for his sasur's company. Padma tells him that he doesn't understand that if Deepu works there, then they will be @ the command of the Trivedis. (Why? It's not like Deepu is getting charity) Padma also tells him that boys who work for their in-laws tend to forget their parents. (Really? Any stats on that?) She doesn't want to lose them. KK is exasperated @ her thinking, and tells her that to this day, he doesn't understand her. Padma says he won't either, and w/o thinking, there's no way he could run this house.
Outside, Jyoti is w/ Kabir, and Jyoti tells him that for what he did for Sushma... Kabir tells her that he understands, and nowadays has developed the ability to read one's expression from their eyes (what a contrast to Pankaj!!! Sorry, I know it's mean, but couldn't resist! šš) He tells her that she wanted to thank him, right?
Just then, Jyoti's phone rings, and it's Pankaj. Jyoti asks Kabir-ji to give her a minute, and Pankaj gets stunned. He asks her if she's outdoors, and she tells him that she's just outside the house, w/ Kabir, to see him off. Pankaj asks whether it's the Kabir who's in her dance group, and she says yes. Pankaj says that he just called to chat, but seems that it's not the right time (you betcha!!!) Jyoti asks him why he's saying that, and he says that just like that. He asks her if her dance group is running well since Kabir joined, and since he's there @ her home @ night, she's bound to tell him that he's there to discuss dance matters w/ her. Jyoti protests that Kabir is a friend, and Pankaj sneers @ that description, telling her that she has plenty of friends, some of whom he never knew, and some of whom he knew long after marriage. (Dimweed, if you can re-marry, why are you shocked @ her seeing other guys in the same timeframe?) At any rate, he has no right to tell her anything anymore, since she is free after her divorce. She is free to do whatever she wants (thanks for clarifying that to her - she seems to belabor under the impression that she still belongs to you.)
Today's episode was largely boring, although some salient facts about the Sharmas got to face Kabir, even though he may not have sensed it at the moment. It was the contrast b/w the reception he got when he returned w/ Jyoti after that night out, vs today when he returned w/ Sushma. Granted, he had called Jyoti to tell her that she was w/ him, but other than that, the contrast was glaring. Whereas Jyoti never got a chance to explain anything, Sushma did. And unlike when Jyoti was out w/ him, by bring Sushma back in one piece, he was immediately in their good books. Regardless, it's good that the entire family now likes him - that way, whenever Jyoti does warm up to him and makes him comfortable enough to propose to her, he'll more likely than not have their support.
Yesterday, it looked like poetic justice seeing Brij beaten in his own game, but I didn't get the point of today's Brij moment. He's drinking, and goes postal on a kid who's sick, and the kid's mom taunts him about not having a family? And why is he bitching about everybody being money minded, when it's he who told Bhairavi that all he cares about is money? Nobody, not even Bhairavi, is as money minded as he is.
And speaking of motive, I was initially under the impression that Padma wants Kabir for Sushma. Thankfully, no - she just wants him to get Deepu a job. Here, I agreed w/ KK today - just let Deepu take Mahesh-ji's offer. Incidentally, KK is fierce when it comes to protecting Jyoti's rights and prestige - like threatening to divorce Padma if she tried to force Jyoti to accept the divorce for alimony. But now, if he thinks Deepu would be right in working for Mahesh-ji, which he would, why is he not more outspoken about this - after all, Deepu is his son as well. And why not point out to Padma that if a son has been working all day @ his FIL's workplace, then after work, he'll be more likely to want to be w/ his parents than his in-laws. And besides, Deepu's supposed to be spending his spare time w/ Poonam, not Padma. What's it w/ Padma & Bhairavi - they expect their sons to be attached to them, instead of their wives? Granted, Padma doesn't overdo it the way Bhairavi does, but still...
I used to be a big fan of Sudha, but really, it's high time she grew up! Not only are Pankaj & Jyoti divorced, but Pankaj has re-married. Sudha should stop trying to explain to Jyoti what Pankaj really feels, or try and get Pankaj appreciate Jyoti's sentiments about him. I do wish they show her finding out one way or another (maybe Sushma telling her) that Kabir is in love w/ Jyoti, and that Jyoti needs to move on to him, instead of dwelling on Pankaj. The sooner that happens, Sudha can be less destructive in Jyoti's life, and Kabir and Jyoti can happen.
One good thing, though - I thought that Sudha getting Pankaj & Jyoti to talk would be a setback to Jyotir, but it didn't happen. Pankaj hears that Jyoti is w/ Kabir, and gets jealous. What does he expect - that immediately after divorce (itself accelarated by perjury), he marries, but he expects her to just mope over him? I did like his reaction though - it's more likely to accelarate Jyoti's move towards Kabir.
So today, Kabir saving Sushma, and Pankaj sneering @ Jyoti were 2 events that's going to enable Kabir to get his Jyoti. Hope it happens after the godh bharai.
