At the Sharmas, Sandeep is looking for the Rs 2000 in his wallet (that his dear sister stole) and while tracing back his path, recalls that Sushma had joined him in the room. He decides to ask her. Padma tells him that she is out, and he scolds Padma for letting her out at night, w/ Brij on the loose. Padma reassures him that she's out to see Jyoti, but Deepu points out that Brij is out to destroy both Sushma & Jyoti. Padma assures him that Jyoti is responsible and will manage things (yeah, right!!!)
At the Vashists, CM has decided to throw a surprise party for MN&G, and asks Minal whether she'd help her, or should she call Jyoti? (Why Jyoti? Why not Sudha, who's at least there for them?) Minal is at a window crying, and protesting at why she should be punished for Uday & Sudha getting married? She is anxious for someone to come and take her back, since she doesn't want to live @ the maakya indefinitely. She wants to return to her sasural and fall at their feet, and CM scolds her telling her that she's a Vashisth beti, and that she never falls at anybody's feet. (It's funny to see CM scold Minal, even if mildly) CM then takes a call from 1 Mr Mehta and discusses a property transaction, and tells him at the end of the conversation that the deal is done. She then gets back to Minal and tells her that she was going to invite Kesav-ji to that party, and when she'd be done, he'd be the one honorably asking Minal to come back.
Jyoti returns home, and Pankaj greets her, and asks her why she seems so fatigued? Jyoti says it's nothing, and CM, who joins, says that she seems upset as well. Looks like another helpless woman has been wronged, and this is the one thing that upsets the Vashisth bahu. She then turns to Pankaj, and asks him for Brij Mohan's number. Jyoti stares at her. Pankaj says that it's in his phone, and he'll get it. Jyoti interrupts, and says she'll get it, and gets the phone. CM stares at her suspiciously. Jyoti then asks her why she wants Brij's number, and CM asks her whether she needs Jyoti's approval before calling someone? (I normally don't support CM's rudeness against Jyoti, but given how the latter has been deceiving everyone re: Brij, I was cheering her as she shot down Jyoti re: any questions regarding Brij) Jyoti protests that she didn't mean that, so CM asks her what did she mean w/ Brij - was he someone she knew and Jyoti nods in the negative (now Jyoti's going from cover-up to downright lying). She says that she has work to do w/ Brij, which she doesn't consider worth sharing w/ Jyoti 👏 (Serves Jyoti right!!!!) She snatches the phone from Jyoti and tells her that she'd take the number herself.
Pankaj gets up, goes up to Jyoti and tells her that he understands that she doesn't like Brij. Jyoti tells him that that's not the case, and that they've just been introduced to him, and so why this hasty openness? They don't know what sort of a person he is - they ought to consider the possibilities, shouldn't they? Pankaj tells her that he can't consider Brij strange - sometimes, unknown people do great things, and Brij did one such thing - he saved Jyoti's husband. (For this reason, Jyoti would have done well to grab this opportunity to fess up, since she couldn't have come up w/ a mere theoretical argument on why Brij should be kept at arms length, since Brij's behavior is not normal) Pankaj asks how many people put their own lives at stake for others? And Brij isn't one of those who has a motive in helping people. Jyoti stares at him in horror. Pankaj asks whether that isn't adequate in escalating their friendship. (Had this not been Brij, Jyoti would have supported this argument) He states that w/ time, Jyoti too will understand this. He then decides to order a tea and have a pleasant conversation w/ Jyoti.
At the Sharmas, Padma informs them that another invitation has arrived, and this time, it's the anniversary of MN&G. CM has invited them, and Padma (true to her class envy profile) wonders whether these people have nothing better to do then blow cash on parties. KK tells her not to talk like that, since life is short, and whatever happiness God has bestowed on one, one should happily accept. He says that they'll accept - what's wrong w/ that? Padma says that there is something wrong w/ that: CM wants that Sushi go there and act as their servant. Even today, in her eyes, Sushma is their servant, not their daughter (this is not Bhairavi's fault, but that of not just Jyoti, but the entire Sharma family) KK & Dadi look sad. Padma asks how long are they going to suppress this? How long are they going to lie? One day, the truth is bound to come out. KK tells her that she's absolutely right in her own context. He too is the father, and he too is hurt when someone calls his daughter a servant, but he is silent thinking of what might happen to Sudha & Jyoti. This time too, they have to swallow their pride and go, or else, the repercussions could fall on Sudha & Jyoti. Padma asks him what he wants - send Sushma there to be their servant for the occasion? (I agree w/ Padma for once: there is no reason for Sushma to have to go there in the first place)
At that moment, Sushma enters the room and tells her that yes, she'll go there to cook, clean shoes and do everything a servant does. Her life is destroyed, nobody can do anything for her, and she doesn't even understand why she continues to live in the first place. KK tries to stop her, but she heads into her room and locks the door. Everybody goes after her to the door, and ask her to contain herself. Deepu arrives and also asks her whether anything is wrong, but Sushma tells them that nobody has told her anything, and that she's suffering the results of her sins, and that nobody can do anything to make things right. She asks them to leave her alone, and KK persuades the others to let her be, and she'll get back to them when she calms down. They all leave her door.
Inside, Sushma continues crying, and is pissed at herself for stealing from Deepu, and lying to Jyoti. She determines that if she ends her life, Brij can't do anything to Jyoti. So she heads to her dressing table, takes a blade, and tries to slit her wrists, but just can't.
Back at the Vashisth mansion, Jyoti is getting ready to eat alone at the table when CM comes in, and tells her that she's planned a surprise party for MN&G. There are a lot of preparations to be done, and she's invited a lot of important guests, as well as Jyoti's own family. Jyoti is happy to hear this. She's also asked to loan that maid of theirs - what'shername? - whatever, she wanted Sudha and Longshree to get some help in the kitchen. Jyoti is sad to hear this description of Sushma. CM asks her what's wrong, and also tells her to ask her folks to come properly attired (Fat chance expecting that of Padma, who's more maid-like than even Sushma is) since several big shots are coming. Jyoti first looks at her in disgust, and hangs her head in shame. She then says 'ji'. An irritated CM asks her what's all the ji's about, and is she even listening to her? All the preparations need to be done by her, and no mistakes. Sudha is out for dinner w/ Uday (finally!!!), and when she's back, let her know as well. Jyoti agrees, and assures her that she'd manage everything.
CM is about to leave her, when she remembers - she forgot to tell Jyoti the most important thing. Tomorrow, at the party, there would be a special program by Brij. Jyoti's smile disappears. CM tells her that when she invited him, he himself volunteered to sing for MN&G. Brij is exactly as Pankaj described him - pure at heart, truthful, friendly 🤣🤣🤣 He mentioned that he'd sing his favorite song. One more thing - Pankaj was the one who volunteered the information that Jyoti dances as well, and so Brij asked that Jyoti dance to his song. Jyoti looks shell shocked (Since CM had told her earlier that she didn't owe Jyoti any explanations re: Brij, Jyoti should turn this around and say that she doesn't owe it to CM to do anything for Brij).
Jyoti & Pankaj are lying in bed, and Pankaj tells her that CM told him that Jyoti has asked that the dance not happen. Pankaj asks why, and Jyoti begs him to accept that she can't do it. Pankaj tells her that it's the anniversary of his parents, and Jyoti isn't willing to do that much for them? Jyoti has tears in her eyes 😭😭😭
Brilliant!!! Brij will be the star of the show, Jyoti has to dance to his tune, while Sushma would be the maid. That too for MN&G's party, not CM's. Why does Sudha have to cook - isn't she the bahu as well? Shoudn't she be showing off her great sari and jewellery, as her new mummy-ji wants? I do hope that the Sharmas leave Sushma home, particularly if they find out that Brij is there.
On CM's plan to entice Kesav-ji to take back Minal, how does she plan to do that? Have Brij flirt w/ her? 😆😆😆 And how will it work out when Jyoti breaks out of Brij's performance?
While I enjoy seeing Jyoti humiliated these days, seeing her having to go barefoot and dance to Brij crosses the line. And the fact that she'd run off half way insulting her very own sasur - MN&G - is sad, given how they've never done anything to hurt her. Also, the last time Sushma was at the mansion as a maid, I was happy at her predicament, but this time, she's reformed, and doesn't deserve this humiliation, and doesn't belong there at all. Of course, all this would have been avoided had everybody been in the know about Brij. Now, when Jyoti meets Sudha, she needs to tell her that thanks to her brilliant advice, she has to dance to Brij's singing, while Sushma has to be the maid in the same place that Brij is the star performer. Of course, it's too late to pre-empt Jyoti's participation in the performance.
I still hope that at the end of it all, Jyoti gets exposed as Brij's ex, and Sushma is revealed as Padma's daughter. Hopefully in private, after the party is over. But methinks Brij would want to use an occasion like this as the one to expose and humiliate Jyoti. He'd probably be singing a song that indirectly alludes to his & Jyoti's past relationship, which would be what makes it impossible for Jyoti to dance, and therefore disappear. And that's bound to end in an exposure.
