Part 1

Sandeep arrives
@ the Vashsisth mansion to fetch Uday & Sudha, and is greeted by CM. She tells them that Uday & Sudha are on the way, and oh, btw, Pankaj & Jyoti would be accompanying them as well (nice of CM to play host for her bahu's maakya). Sandeep is happy, and CM remarks on how strange it is that the older sister-in-law in the sasural is also the older sister in the maakya: it's not an usual occurance (hey CM, ever heard of something called the Ramayan? Where Sita & Urmila were sisters @ Mithila, and sisters-in-law @ Ayodhya?) CM then expresses concern that that would increase the workload on Padma, w/ all the feeding of not just Uday & Sudha, but Jyoti & Pankaj as well. Sandeep tells her that it's no problem, and that he'll call Padma & tell her, which he then does. CM then asks a servant to get a camera, and gives it to Sandeep, telling him that in case he didn't mind, she didn't know whether they have a camera or not, and so wanted him to take some photos of his entire family for her pleasure, and Sandeep agrees. CM then calls Sudha & Jyoti, telling them that Sandeep is waiting for them.

Back @ the Sharmas, Sushma is kneeding the dough, and Padma asks her to rest. She declines, stating that if she did, she'd feel like she was even a greater burden on the family. As it is, there is a shortage of money in the house, and she lands in the midst of it. Padma scolds her for talking like this, and asks her to consider how she feels when she makes such remarks. Sushma tells her that she didn't mean to hurt her, but to date, she hasn't done anything but hurt her family, and damaged her life all by herself. Padma tries to reassure her, and tells her that they're all w/ her, and w/ time, everything will be alright. She also tells her that along w/ Sudha, Jyoti & Pankaj will be coming as well, and she's to stay inside and not come outside. Despite being part of the family, she can't take part in family festivities. Padma can't bear to see her pretend to be a servant, so she tells her to be inside during that time. Sushma refuses and says that she wont be able to sit quietly there, and will feel abandoned. Also, if they all decide to stay the whole day, she'll just suffocate inside. Sushma asked permission to go outdoors, but Padma tells her that it's not safe for her, since Brij is on the prowl. Sushma tells her that he is a coward and can't do much in broad daylight, and begs her to let her go. She'd also shop for groceries. She assures her that nothing will happen to her, and that she'll remain in crowded areas. Padma bemoans that when one daughter comes home, the other has to disappear. (It was like that not too long ago the other way, when on rakhi day, since Sushma was due, Jyoti had to cut short her stay w/ Deepu; Padma didn't mind then) She asks god how long will this continue.

Sushma is in the marketplace, and buys a variety of vegetables. Brij is watching her, and calls out to her by name, but from locations where he was unseen. Sushma got startled and started looking around for him, while he kept calling. Finally, after she's done w/ enough shopping and this has gone on long enough, she panics and runs away.

Back @ the Sharma household, Sudha and Uday are about to step in, when Dadi stops them, and tells Sudha that when a girl returns to her maakya after marriage, she and her groom are welcomed like strangers, and calls out to Padma. Sudha, Uday, Jyoti & Pankaj are happily standing outside. Padma arrives w/ the arati thali, and welcomes Sudha & Uday like she did a few days ago, while Sandeep clicks pictures. They all come in, and Dadi tells Jyoti that she spent the last night sleepless, thinking of how she could make Sudha's paag phere as memorable as Jyoti's. Pankaj agrees w/ her that it's great when the whole family is together. That's why he and Jyoti came as well, or else, they had no business being there. However, they thought that since Jyoti has only 1 sister (the looks on everyone's face was priceless), she must be eager to participate in her happiness. That's why they came. The Sharmas look embarrassed & ashamed, and KK looks @ Padma, who in turn, looks @ Jyoti.

Part 2

In the meantime, Sushma is running down a narrow alley b/w 2 buildings @ a construction site, and gets to a dead end blocked by a steel net. The bag of vegetables falls, and they all spill, and one tomato rolls away from her. While she's gathering them back, she looks up and notices Brij, who has picked up that tomato and is tossing it b/w his hands like a cricket ball. Sushma gets up terrified, and Brij approaches her. Sushma gets flashbacks of all the times Brij physically abused her, whether it was knocking a plate of her hands, beating her in the open streets or tossing her down the stairway @ that construction site. Brij (who acts almost like he is Zaheer Khan) grins @ her, and approaches, still tossing that tomato in his hand, until he gets to the end and rests his hand on the net, trapping Sushma. Brij asks her how long does she expect to escape him, and points out that he's caught her. Sushma tries to escape, and Brij blocks her. She asks him to let go, and he asks her why is she so scared of him - he is Brij, her husband! He has come to take his wife away, and he's not going to eat her that she's trembling so much. He then tries to entice her to return w/ him, and catches her dupatta, and tries to take her, but she snatches it back, and tells him that she's going no where w/ him, and therefore, to get lost. Brij looks @ her feigning shock, and asks how he goes away leaving his wife behind. He asks her what's there in his life, aside from her (how about booze, gambling and womanizing?) Sushma asks what she ever got from him that she should return? Under the pretense of love, he separated her from her own family. She asks what he gave in return? He didn't mind pimping her for money. He'd always abuse her, beat her, say horrible things about her on the slightest pretexts, and under him, her self esteem was so lowered that she could no longer hold her head high and look at other people. And he dares ask her to return? Never!!! 👏👏👏 (I rarely cheer Sushma, but this was her finest hour, rivaling the time she helped Sudha go off to meet Uday so that he could marry her)

Back @ the Sharmas, Padma is gathering the gifts that they've bought apparently by selling that medal. She tells KK that she hopes that by getting them, Sudha's sasural (i.e. CM) doesn't get the opportunity to grumble, and that Sudha too doesn't feel humiliated there as a result. It's a different matter that their daughter would never know how her poor parents came up w/ the cash to get this, and KK looks worried.

Back @ the site, Sushma tells Brij how easy it is to ruin someone's life, and then simply say sorry. Brij protests that he is very sorry and offers to fall @ his feet, but Sushma asks him how he even dared think that she'd forgive him for what he did? Today, he's the one solely responsible for the condition she's in. Today, b'cos of him, she has to pretend to be a servant in her own house, and despite having a home, having to abscond when relatives come. Brij tells her that she's just blaming him for everything, and asks whether her father has sold the house, and why does she have to roam the streets when she has her maakya? Sushma asks him what's her other option? That she appears in front of everybody, so that Jyoti-didi & Sudha-didi's sasural gets to know that she's their sister? She asks what she tells Pankaj - that she's Jyoti's younger sister, who ran away from home so that she could marry Jyoti's cheating bf? Brij looks @ her thoughtful (Sushma is now unwittingly giving him ideas, as well as the whole picture, and filling up what he only guessed from the party conversation CM had w/ her hostess). She pointed out that @ Brij's behest, she would have gone to Pankaj to spill out all the hatred she had for Jyoti, but it was good that Brij's true nature got exposed to her b4 then. Had Sushma gone ahead and done it, she would have ruined the life of her godess like sister, for which she could never have forgiven herself. She tells Brij to leave her for good, and whatever he had done was enough, and not to make her life any more difficult!!! Brij tells her that that's what he admires about her - how lovingly she's trying to protect her sister. He asks her whether she remembers when she tried to disuade him from loving her? He does, and that's why he's back - to reclaim her. He tells her that he is going to take her back, and nobody can come b/w them. He tries to grab her, but she tells him that she's not coming back, snatches back her dupatta and runs away (w/o the vegetables). Brij grins to himself, tomato still in hand, and notes that while he knew that Jyoti's in-laws were unaware of her sister, the same truthful and cultured Jyoti even kept her blind husband in the dark about her? She didn't tell him about her fling w/ Brij? He tells Jyoti in his mind not to worry, and that he'd do the needful. He thanks Sushma, noting that in her stupidity, this is the first time she's ever helped him. In the meantime, Sushma is running home as fast as her legs can take her. Brij takes the tomato and squishes it in his hand, noting that he'd leave Jyoti in such a condition that she'd be 'na ghar ke na ghat ke'.

Part 3

At the Sharmas, Uday tells KK that there was no reason to get them such expensive gifts: just a tilak and Rs11 would have been just as effective. KK agrees, but says that the parents of the bride wouldn't be satisfied, and besides, they hardly got the chance to give anything, and so here this was.

All this is suddenly interrupted by a screaming, panic stricken Sushma, who runs in screaming didi, locks the door and then runs into Jyoti's arms, telling her that he is back, and is chasing her. Everybody looks shocked, since Sushma is supposed to hide from Pankaj. Pankaj asks Jyoti who it is, and everybody looks ashamed and embarrassed. While everybody is wondering what to say, Uday tells him that it's that girl who works @ their place. Pankaj asks who's chasing her? Who's back? Pankaj also asks that Padma had told her that that girl was sick and didn't come to work today, in which case...??? Everybody is speechless, and Jyoti looks @ Pankaj like she's confronting death itself.

Precap

They showed a marathon session of this week's Jyoti Saturday, starting from 3:30-6:10PM. Here, they showed the precap as Brij id'ing Pankaj on a photo w/ Jyoti and asking an assailant to fake mugging him, then Brij himself going, knocking off the assailant and returning Pankaj's belonging to him. Pankaj introduces himself to Brij, and Brij responds w/ a sly look (probably, Brij goes on to introduce himself to Pankaj, and position himself to uncover the deception of the entire Sharma family).

Comments

I disliked the first part - just sick of Sudha surfacing @ her maakya everytime, even though this was @ the behest of her now 'doting' mummy-ji. Thankfully, they kept that to a minimum.

The second part - I just loved. This was Sushma's finest hour. Finally, she's left no one in doubt that she's under no illusions re: Brij, and it would have been useless for him to use her one night stand w/ Thakkar as a blackmailing tool. I don't blame her for spilling the beans to Brij re: the fact that nobody in Jyoti's in-laws knows that she's her sister. I'm so sick of Jyoti betraying those who love her, and worshipping those who hate her, that I am past the point where I'd mind Brij doing her some damage, particularly reputation wise. I also want the Vashists to know the whole truth regarding the Sharmas. Also, I think this is the last attempt Brij has made on Sushma, and from now on, his only target is Jyoti.

The third part was just priceless - Sushma storming into the room, and running into not Padma, not Deepu, but into Jyoti's hands. And the Sharmas have been busy lying to Pankaj about where she is, and here she is. And when he asks the inconvenient question, everybody looks terrified.

Next week, I hope Jyoti either fesses up or is exposed. A great episode!!!!

amazing update as usual. I soooo totally agree with you. I want this stupid secret out. I am sure that Pankaj and Uday are more understanding that what jyoti gives them credit for. And it is just too wrong to pretend sushma is a servant. I would never have done that too my sister. would you?

and why the heck is jyoti so worried bout brij's relationship? it wasnothing serious at all. it is so silly. sushma should be scared coz she did more than just hold hands or giggle with that guy!

all husbands know that their wives like someone or the other when younger. i hate jyoti for not giving him the credit to be mature

On MSRKF's observation above, good one, except that Sushma married when she was underage, so they could go ahead and file a case against him, if they could only get past their 'izzat' obsession. But yeah, they should get them officially divorced, and at least stop Sushma from wearing that mangal sutra of hers, which she still does.

On Mahmansma's observation above, totally agree about what Pankaj & Uday's reactions would be. In fact, this is totally immature on the part of the family - to help Jyoti cover up this from Pankaj, they are covering it up from the entire Vashisth family, and this ends up in Sudha, who never treats Uday disrespectfully since her marriage, being a part of this deception. Disgraceful. There is nothing to hide from Pankaj that Jyoti had a bf who cheated on her before she met Pankaj, and Kalpana's theory that he'd think he was her 2nd choice was absolutely inane.

Also, the look on everybody's face when Pankaj asked how Sushma's appearance squared w/ what Padma told them was priceless. Everybody looked like they had been caught lying, and Pankaj looked like he felt deceived.

I think next week, they'll tell him about Sushma, w/o telling him about Brij, and when Brij introduces himself to Pankaj, he'll fill in other details, some true, and some not. And when Pankaj confronts Jyoti on this and finds out some are true, he wont believe her denials on the things that aren't. Somehow, I don't think this round will end w/ Jyoti emerging unexposed.

P.S. This thread should replace the Dec 9th as a sticky!
