No, I dont mean abt his weight😆 But really, Pankaj really is the most pathetic character in Jyoti at the moment, aside from CM and Meenal of course. I was so impressed with how Uday smoothly handled the nosy neighbor lady who obviously only showed up to get the latest gossip. His character in so many ways is much stronger than Pankaj's.
When KK made a comment abt how both his son-in-laws always stand up for their wives, I think even Sandeep made a face. Pankaj, despite not even being CM's son like Uday is, is so ruled by her that he's completely oblivious to anything else. The only time he really gets angry is if someone comments on his handicap. But when CM gets on her daily spiel against Jyoti, I don't see him say a word.
Sudha really is the luckiest, to get a husband like Uday, who hopefully will always stay supporting and strong like he is.

i agree, but there was a time in their first stage of marriage Pankaj learnt to stop depending on cm for every lil thing but now he's gone back to it
i really hoped he'd stick up for his wife through this
Uday has always liked his babhi and listened to her advise
and he always supported Jyoti in their household when cm started pointing fingers at her

Uday, despite being married for a mere 2 days, is showing himself as a more cognizant of the responsibilities of a spouse, than Pankaj is. Even @ the best of times, the best that Pankaj would do would be to plead Jyoti's case, and in the case before CM's exile, tell her that she was being a typical saas. Uday, by contrast, when he saw Sudha being reverse-pimped, told CM flat on her face that she didn't give a rat's rear end about him.

And Pankaj's reason for turning on Jyoti is ridiculous. I could understand it if it was after Jyoti's absense from important family occasions, like the Bhau-duj, or later, when he finds out about Brij & Sushma. But here, Jyoti's 'fault' was to accept Uday's marriage after the fact, and try to get the rest of the family to accept that marriage, since it's a done deal. Let's forget Sudha for the moment - does Pankaj really believe that Jyoti doesn't have Uday's happiness @ heart at all? Or would he have been okay with this had Uday eloped w/ a different girl that he was in love w/, instead of Sudha? Jyoti having to be the object of this animousity just b'cos the beneficiary of Uday's act was Sudha is just ridiculous. And to make things worse, none of them have yet given either Uday nor Sudha a chance to explain what exactly they did, and what was running thru their minds. So everybody is against anybody who supports Uday?

The day that Jyoti married, I thought that it was a bad move on her part for 2 reasons: she was doing it only because of Padma's behavior, and unlike other girls, marriage wasn't something she thought of much, except when she was an item w/ Brij. The other reason was that she was totally dedicated to her own maakya. Nothing wrong w/ that, but then a marriage would create an inevitable conflict of interests, even w/o a CM like character in the sasural. In fact, just as Sushma's marriage ending was good for her (incidentally, why does she still wear the mangal sutra?), Jyoti's would be too - the abuse from CM would stop, just as for Sushma, the abuse from Brij stopped. Also, while Jyoti was right in emphasizing the differences b/w their families, she should have screened Pankaj's family for louts, and had she noticed CM much earlier, she could have declined on those grounds.

Of all these 3 sisters, Sudha is the only 1 who I felt should ever get married, and which I was rooting for ever since Uday fell for Devika. Otherwise, Jyoti would have been perfectly happy had Padma & Dadi not been such misogynist creeps, and she'd simply have happily supported her family. Similarly, had Sushma kept her hands off her sister's date and told Jyoti about it, neither of them would have fallen for Brij.

The sooner Pankaj finds out about Brij, Sushma & Jyoti's past and ends it all, he'll actually be doing Jyoti a big favor. Although I doubt that Jyoti can work in any place financed by the Vashisths, since her honor would also be @ stake.

^i think that the time Jyoti was thinking of telling Pankaj everything she should have told all
how can she keep sushma a secret? which sister would do that, even if there was a big traumatic ordeal that forced her to not tell abt sushma she should have told eventually
when sushma was in hospital that was a big chance she missed
and Pankaj knows that Jyoti has suffered alot, so shouldnt he talk to her abt it?

Actually, Sandeep has no idea that the others in the family are po'ed @ Jyoti, including Pankaj. This is something only Jyoti knows and has been experiencing: even Uday & Sudha are in the dark about this, so far.

I wonder whether they'll reconcile before this is found out, or whether the situation will get worse. Also, if Brij re-surfaces next week, will it be the beginning of the end of Jyoti's marriage to Pankaj? Or are we going to see Sushma's recovery, Deepu's romance warming up and Suday getting more intimate?

i think pankaj is really hurt rite now as uday and sudha's sudden marriage have broken the bond of the family and moreover his family got insulted too so i can see his pain...but on the other hand he also got married to someone he fell in love with so he should understand uday's position..uday tried his best to convince the family and when he couldnt he had to make such a hard decission..its not easy for uday to leave the family too but as a hubby he cant see sudha in pain which i reALLY appreciate..pankaj always took jyoti's side too but right now pankaj is hurt and believes jyoti went against his family for her sis...i am sure with time he will understand all this..

he is not a bad human being like CM..once he gets to understand everyrthing he will be the first one to bring suday back..

He may be hurt, but being a guy, even then he ought to use his logic.

If Jyoti wanted her sister into the family @ all costs, why would she first get back Uday's engagement ring, and then accompany them to Kota to finalize the proposal? How does that help Jyoti bring Sudha into the family, assuming that that was her goal? Wouldn't she have been better off scheming to get Uday to elope earlier, before any of this happened, so that the proposal remained an internal family dispute, and didn't spill into Kota or threaten to touch Minal? How is it in Jyoti's interest on the day of the engagement to go off after Uday, get him married to Sudha, and then, to top it all, come back home when the Kota people were fuming and she risked the maximum humiliation, which she got, not only from the Kota peeps but also from her own sasural? Wouldn't she have been better off taking Suday some place and keeping them low for a while, and coming back when tempers were settled?

Also, Pankaj's standing up for her was always half hearted, and every promise he has made to Jyoti has been broken to some extent or another by CM. For instance, he had promised Jyoti all comforts, but thanks to CM, she has to wake up @ 5:00AM to make his tea. She married him on condition that she'd be allowed to work for her maakya - CM regularly mocks that, and almost got it ended. I understand that Jyoti has been less than honorable as a wife in always running off to her maakya to resolve Sushma's crisis, which she could never explain back home (unlike Sudha's, where she had the whole family behind her). But that doesn't justify Pankaj allowing CM to make her life miserable. In fact, the case can be made that if Jyoti didn't have someone as hostile as CM, she could have come clean about Sushma much sooner. Right now, it looks inevitable that Brij will be the one to reveal this, and include anything he likes into the script, and since Jyoti and her family will have damaged credibility due to their supressing this, Brij will be unstoppable in the credibility dept.

Had Jyoti vetted Pankaj more thoroughly than she did, she'd never have entered this marriage.

@Vrisha: Completely agree. I just wish Jyoti wud stand up for herself, ask Pankaj the simple question - what about the promise you made to me? I just wish someone would remind him of the numerous promises he made to Jyot and to Kalpana's mother.
I can understand CM not believing Jyoti, but Pankaj, who knows the Jyoti from shishumangal times... its really sad that he doesn't believe her.

i never liked pankaj, he is a complete looser, never fully supported joyti
plus i find his phlosiphical banter so tedious & annoying
the way he went against jo over udhay marriage was uncalled for & now i want jo to stop giving him any importance & soon or later he will come to his senses
as for cm she is bitter & twisted, she just can't fathom that jo is a far better person than her & is more caring & sensitive towards other peoples needs, which in return makes her more popular & likeable & cm gets jealous of the attention jo is getting, as she really wants to be centre of attention
sad woman needs to get a life
