Watching the last few episodes since Sushma landed in hospital made me wonder - is there no end to what Jyoti thinks she has to do for her maakya?
Granted, in the past, she felt like she had to get Sushma out of the clutches of Brij. Now she's done that. So why is she still obsessing over Sushma? First, it was at the hospital, and skipping Bhai-duj, much to the chagrin of everybody in her sasural. Then, after Sushma tells her about Thakkar, she and Deepu go on a macho Brij-hunt. Where is the need for that? Brij is now a criminal - why not report it to the police and get them on his case, instead of her and Deepu going after him? And what if Brij were to gather up his party friends and rough up Deepu? Would Jyoti then start another saga of help your maakya?
And last night's was the worst. A sleepy Pankaj begs her to stay, but she tells him that she has to go. And where? To get Sushma from hospital to KK's home. WTF? 😡😡😡 Sandeep, Padma, Dadi, Sudha and KK couldn't have done that - did they risk Sushma going back to Brij? Who is more important in Jyoti's life - Pankaj or Sushma? 😡😡😡 Had Jyoti obeyed Pankaj and stayed home, would the family have come apart?
And not just that, having put Sushma to bed, now it's Jyoti's turn to start cooking for her? There are 3 cooks in the house - Padma, Sudha and Dadi, and KK couldn't have sat next to Sushma and comforted her while they did? So there Jyoti is, looking for stuff and cooking, and suddenly Uday surfaces there, inquiring about Sudha's fake illness (driven by that congenital liar Sandeep), and Jyoti now worried that Sushma will surface. I really hope this time, she does. Jyoti has lost the right to any presumption of innocence.
Also, while I disagree w/ CM on trying to contrive a split-up b/w Uday & Sudha, I do agree in 1 aspect: if Sudha is going to have the same split loyalties as Jyoti does, then the Vashisths should be leery about welcoming her into their fold. After all, this is the family that gave her a home when even KK and Padma were unwilling to, and when she needed them most. I hope that if and when Sudha marries Uday, she remembers this and loses all contact w/ her folks - the only person who really cared for her is Jyoti, and she's here in her would be sasural. The only complication in this is that Sudha is now an earning member, and if she marries, then the same issue will surface as w/ Jyoti earlier - the family will lose her income, while she'll cease to be a burden on them. Does Sudha cost them more than she brings in? Maybe Deepu can get a raise soon? But in this economy?
Anyway, the question - do you think that what Jyoti is doing is what any beti ought to do, regardless of whether she's married or not?
