Depending on her for just cash is one thing - she can send a check whenever they need it. But her abandoning her sasural and rushing on a moments notice is what's costing her, to the point that even family members who've always been loving and supportive of her, like Uday & Pratik, are at a loss for words: Friday, for the first time ever, Uday gave her a dirty look and a cold shoulder when she brought them breakfast. Jyoti's most valuable commodity is time, not her sasural's money, and she's giving most of it away to her maakya by such acts. The most suitable punishment for her would be to ground her, or tell her that the marriage is over.
And this is not even for KK or Dadi or Sudha - it's for Sushma, who has disowned her. Why the f*** can't Deepu and Padma handle her? And if she is too stupid to stay w/ Brij even after he aborted (in a manner of speaking) her bhai-duj ceremony, then she deserved to be abandoned: Deepu calling Jyoti for help wasn't going to improve things. In fact, it just happened that Sushma had had her fill and was being beaten on the street when Jyoti & Deepu arrived: Deepu could have arrived alone and taken Sushma away, and the result would have been identical. There was nothing that Jyoti did that Deepu couldn't have done: the circumstances just happened to be more favorable, since Brij had crossed the threshold by questioning the parentage of Sushma's baby (which he incidentally did before, so why didn't she walk out on him when he demanded that she abort again?)
I just wish someone would point this out to Deepu. Maybe Sudha. So that they all stop contacting Jyoti for every family crisis, and handle it themselves to the best of their ability. Yeah, there will be times when they screw things up, like they just did by asking Sushma's life to be saved ahead of her baby. But they have to live with those - Jyoti can't keep bailing them out.
