Hi Guys,
My name is Simra and I'll be doing the written updates from now on. Please be patient with me because they might be a little late on some days but I'll do my best to have them up ASAP. Sorry if this one isn't too great but I'll get better over time. I'll update the other three episodes in the next few days as well.
So here we do with the first episode:
The episode starts with a family of four (Parent, a young man and a girl about 12 years old) travelling on a horse carriage. A girl with her face covered with a scarf almost bumps into the cart on her scooter and stops. The man driving the carriage scolds her for not driving properly and she respondes by saying that he's the one driving on the wrong side and wonders who gave him his lisence. She drives away and the man then says to the family that she's asking for a lisence to drive a carraige. He then says you can ask women to do anything except drive. The young man turns to his sister and teases her that maybe they shouldn't get her a scooter and she replies that he can tease her now but wait until his madam comes then she'll fix him. He asks her what madam and she says Jyoti madam. Their mom laughs and says not to assume because they haven't even met her yet but the father says that if even a quarter of what baby mausi said about her is true then they have found the perfect girl.
They show four boys sitting on a ledge and a girl walks by and someone teases her and she stops asking who it is. They all say it wasn't them and one of them who had his back turns to face her saying that they are all very sharif. He continues to tease her until she leaves and the four of them run off to a road side thayla. Three of them ask him how he comes up with such dialouges and he says he has done a pHd in this. They say he should stop teasing girls and find one for himself. Just then the carriage with the family rolls by and the girl asks where they can find house number 603. He walks over to them and then asks his friends where the house would be and they all laugh and father asks why they are laughing. He asks where they want to go and the father says to kamal kishor sharma's house. He gives them directions and then flirts with the little girl when she thanks him. He asks why they are looking for the house and they say they are going to see Jyoti and he laughs and says then go meet them. He runs back to his friends and asks for a mobile.
A phone rings and a woman picks up make an affirmative noise and says to a man in a wheel chair to get ready in an angry tone. The carriage gets to the house and the woman who answered the phone opens the gate and allows the family in. She tells them to sit and goes to call her husband. She returns with the man in the wheel chair and after introductions asks them if they want something hot or cold and the boy's mother says she wants chai made by jyoti because she has heard about it. Jyoti's mother says that she isn't home and the boy's father gets asks why since they told them they would be coming. Jyoti's father starts to say something but her mother interrupts saying that she took the day off work but her friend called for some important work and she just left a few minutes ago. She goes to call her but hangs up after one ring and says that she isn't picking up. She tells them to wait and that Jyoti will be back soon and that she'll get them something cold to drink.
The scene changes to a group of classical dancers performing with their teacher and two men in suits watching. The teacher asks what they think and they say it's good but they want more sizzle. The guru tells them to wait and they say they dont have time to wait. They are about to leave when they hear payal and a girl starts dancing.
The scene goes back to the house and Jyoti's mother talk about her government job and that Jyoti loves to dance. The boy's family doesn't look happy and the mother goes on to say that she knows that dancing isn't looked upon well but Jyoti wants refuses to stop. Her father interrupts saying that Jyoti iradon ki badi pakki hai. The mother agrees and says jyoti is very intelligent, does whatever she want to, doesnt take no for an answer and that there is no one like her Jyoti. She says that when Jyoti comes into the house all of her sibling become quiet and are scared of her. The boy's family doesn't seem to like what she is saying.
The scene goes back to the girl dancing and when she is done her guru thanks her (Jyoti) for making it on time. The men in suits look at her leeringly and ask her to dinner but she says she has to go to her children and leaves. The men are surprised and ask the guru how many children she has and he says 40 the last time he checked. They are shocked. Just then Jyoti calls out to the guru (Dada) and asks him if she can talk to him. She asks for an advance and he says again to which she says she needs the money. He says ok but that she will have to wait. She then says it's okay because she has to go.
The scene moves back to the house where the boy's family says they have to leave and they are annoyed because they had to wait so long. They ask for her kundli and say that if it matches then they'll see. The mother goes to get it. She opens one and puts it away and then picks up another booklet and looks at the writing written on the last page. (Sorry Guys I can read hindi but I assume that the writing says that she is a manglik). They leave and Jyoti's father says to her mother that he doesn't remember her telling Jyoti about the boy's family coming over and she says that he doesn't remember anything other than his new paper. The boy's family walks out and say that Jyoti's family doesn't care about time and they have wasted so much time and money. They walk past the young man from before he stop them saying that this is what happens to all of them. The father tried to get them to leave but the mother and son ask what he means. He insults Jyoti and says that she doesn't know how to respect elders and is spoilt. He sees the kundli and says match it and then you'll know everything. They ask him what he means and he says he doesn't want to say but they force him to and he says she has a khor mangal in her kundli. The family looks shocked and they return to Jyoti's house and throw her kundli down ask why they didn't tell them about Jyoti being a manglik. Jyoti's mother says that she thought that their son was manglik too and the boys mother says he isn't but his life would have been destroyed if he married Jyoti. They leave insulting jyoti just as a very tired looking girl walks in and cries saying her didi isn't like that. They say that their whole family is full of lies and leave.
The girls walks to the mom to question her but she stops her and tells her not to make a big deal of it and to go in and not to mention it because Jyoti will feel bad. The girl wipes her tears.
The scene changes to an orphanage with a cradle at the door with a bell hanging from it. A woman comes in and put the baby into it and rings the bell crying. A large number of kids run to the balcony to watch her walk away. She turns to see Jyoti there who asks what she is doing. The woman asks jyoti not to stop her but Jyoti says that what she is doing is wrong and no matter how much love the child will get in the orphanage it will not be enough for that child. The woman says she cant take the baby home because it's a girl and her family wants a boy. Jyoti convinces her that she should take the baby home and if they throw her out she can be strong enough to take care of her daughter alone. The woman runs back and picks up her child and thanks Jyoti and touches her feet. A man walks up and says that if she gets kicked out he'll give her a job. The woman thanks Jyoti and says she'll raise her daughter to be just like Jyoti and that she has saved her from committing a huge paap. She leaves and the man praises Jyoti and says she can pick up her salary and Jyoti becomes really happy.
Scene changes to the same woman on the scooter from the begging coming home and it's jyoti. The tired girls (Sudhi) comes out to take bags from her and they walk in and Sudhi is about to leave but asks why Sudhi doesn't want to see what she has bought. Just then her mother walks in and Jyoti gives her expensive mithai and her mother scolds her for buying such expensive mithai and they have a lot of other things to buy. Jyoti tells sudhi to put the vegetables away and gives her mother sowing stuff. She asks about her father and her mother says he must be reading the newspaper again and he comes in saying that at least he's only reading the newspaper. Her mother leaves angry and jyoti gives her a father a shawl that she says wont itch. He says she must have looked hard for it. She tell him to come see what she bought but he says he has to change.
Jyoti gives Sudhi a new pair of sandals but she says she fixed her old ones and Jyoti says now she can have two. She also gives her money to go to the library despite Sudhi refusing. She asks about her sister sushma and her mother says she's late because of a competition at school. The bell rings and a female begger asks for roti and Jyoti gives her money but the girl steals her wallet and Sudhi and Jyoti chase her. When she is caught she laughs and it turns out to be sushma who says she's a great actress and will be famous. Jyoti gets her purse back but sushma keeps the money. They all enter the house laughing and sushma says her costume was so realistic that people gave her money on the way home. Jyoti says she has to give the money to a needy person because people gave her money because they thought she needed it. Sushma says ok and then says she should become a beggar because they make good money and Jyoti tells her to make up her mind about what she wants to do. Sushma sees all the bags and asks if Jyoti got paid. Jyoti says yes and gives her and new dress. Jyoti asks where Deepu is and her mother replies that he has been out all day at the library, coaching and studying at a friend's house. She says he has been working really hard to become and engineer.
Jyoti sips her chai and a pair of hands cover her eyes. She gives the cup to Sudhi and says the one that played in her lap and the one whose hands she tied rakhies on for years, of course she recognizes that it's Deepu. She turns around and her brother ends up being the boy that had been insulting her to the boys family.
Preview: Sudhi says to Jyoti that she should get a job and Jyoti says no you are good at your studies so keep doing that.
