Why NOT give a lustful look? He's always had a roving eye. It's not like he's lost the love of his life. He lost someone whom he was fascinated by. We see men this way all the time - they do adore/admire/love their wives, but cannot help but look/ogle at a passing beauty. Maybe twice/thrice even. But of course, he would have done nothing of the sort when Durga was around - because she was enough to keep him fascinated (and to play it safe).

And anyway Lana😳, it's not necessary that the first time you see someone is when you get attracted to them IF you are meant to be attracted to them. You can see them at a later date and a light bulb can go off. Anyhow, even if he met Heera earlier, it's not like he's seen her from close quarters. Maybe once. As a formal hello. Even then, she would have been under a thick veil. Sisters-in-law/BILs wouldn't have the sort-of relationship those days as they have today - it would've been very formal. Even Durga herself might have met him only twice or thrice. The rest of their affair was through letters. And Heera learnt everything she had to about her jeejasa through jiji!

The first time he saw her so close was at the garden in Bansi - when he sees her properly. And realises - partially blind or not - she's indeed 'really beautiful'

These men like Royal Piggy are psychological cases! The only reason you can pinpoint is Heera hurt his Rajputana pride big time by rejecting him and he so his golden opportunity of ruling a Hindu kingdom slipping through his fingers and that irked him to such an extent that his fury turned into a zeal of lust where he just wanted to put her down in front of her near and dear ones indicating she should belong to his harem. And he had that look of disgust mixed with longing and anger and hurt ego to just show her place insinuating her to be an object of his lust. 😡 A completely abhorrent fellow!! 😡
