I have deliberately left the 'Mystery of the phantom archer's grey arrows' open-ended... it's for the readers to fill the pieces in, as they like/wish/see!😊

was all he wanted to hear - because it reassured him that they were on the same side... that she had his back, like he had hers...

So, his reaction thereafter could either be the happiness on hearing her reassurance AFTER he'd already taken his revenge for them both...

or it could be what he considered a signal, his GO-AHEAD to take revenge...

AMK gave the crowds what they wanted and the swine what he deserved. Mahender sure would have guessed who might have shot the grey arrows. But he couldn't prove it, not even to himself. He neither got the satisfaction of victory nor the satisfaction of knowing the Mansabdar better, for what he knows now is more of his assumption only. Lost the cake and didn't eat it either.
