A language, rather it's basics can hardly be learnt from books. It has to be learnt by constant hearing or conversing.

Once during my school days, I suddenly got interested in the Bengali language and studiously learnt the script from books. I could slowly read (like a first grader though 😒)but couldn't understand a word of what I read! And couldn't manage to grasp the language like its script. Then I lost interest and by now have forgotten even the script. But your little banters have kindled my fascination again.😳
