Adwi,
Poet Kamban, who lived in the 12th century in Tamil Nadu, wrote the Tamil version of Valmiki's Ramayana. It is not a literal translation, but is a story of Ramayana retold in about 11,500 verses.
This particular incident is described in Balakandam. Rama, while walking along the street in Mithila, sees Sita who is standing on the balcony of her palace's maiden enclosure.( Kanni maadam in Tamil).
The following verses say about their ' love smitten' hearts..
I deliberately omitted the stanza no. 515.
I just searched for the English translation of Kambaramayana and here it goes like this:
(Link: englishkambaramayanam.blogspot.com .au.(bala kandam padalam 8-10)

514. When that Sita who was more prettier than any one's concept of beauty,
Was standing there, her eyes and that of Rama dragged each other,
And each of their eyes wanted to steal the other and eat it,
And due to this both their consciousness became one single one,
And he saw her and she also saw him.

...

516.Since their sights which drank each other ,
Tied each other and was dragging each other's hearts,
That Rama with a strong bow and Sita with sword like eyes.
Pierced each others heart and stayed there.

517. That lady with no waist(thin waist) and that Rama without any fault,
Became a single soul along their two bodies ,
If they who had parted with each other ,
On the floating bed in the ocean of milk,
Meet with each other in one place , Is there a need to talk?

Patti!

Thanks a ton! I have heard the name of this poet in my GK books and read your post in the CN thread in this regard. So it was interesting to note the rhythm of verses, and its nearly perfect translation in English, hence curious to learn more.

Thanks for the blogspot link, would be visiting the page 😳
