Chapter 5

Past:

Jalal watched Jodha and Rohit leave her house...he burned with anger and jealousy as he saw Jodha running behind Rahul with anger while Rohit is laughing at her "Jodha am sorry but you shouldn't cook..that egg of yours was so bad" Jodha finally stopped running and leaned against his car..Rohit comes up to her and puts his arm around Jodha while apologizing...they both looked at each other and started laughing...he wanted to kill Rohit for being this close to her...he started the car as soon as Jodha left her house...he went to Muhammad Contructions afterward..as soon as he entered the office everyone stood up (similar to the way he entered Jodha show) he walked past them ignoring their presence...behind him his assistant Rosy Kapoor followed him telling him today's agenda followed by his accountant Adi...everyone feared him and dared not to speak anything out of context...he went in his cabin angry...

Jalal: Rosy I want you to cancel all my meetings for today and arrange my meeting with Mr. Rajiv Sharma

Rosy: But Sir

Jalal (shouted): I didn't ask for any excuse do as I say...

Rosy (in fear): yes Sir...

Jalal: Good you two may leave...Rosy only come back to my cabin after you have arranged my meeting with Rajiv Sharma...ohh and hold all my calls

Rosy: Yes Sir (They both hurriedly left his cabin)

Jalal sits back in his chair and closes his eyes..he sees Jodha with smile...there was something about her that made him crazy...her smile, her talks and her innocence...he wanted her more than anything no matter what..for the very first time he ever felt like that about someone...Defeat was not in his dictionary and knew many ways to achieve what he wants...his thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his cabin door...

Rosy: May I come in Sir

Jalal: What is it! (he shouted)

Rosy: Well Si Si Sir...

Jalal: Go on! I don't have all day to listen to you

Rosy: I had called Mr. Rajiv Sharma and he left for home already as he decided to work from home today

Jalal: hmm alright you may leave..."Even better" he smiled and left his office..no one dared to ask him any questions...he got in his car and drove to Jodha's house...he rang the door bell...

Ramu Kaka: How can I help you?

Jalal: I am here to meet Mr. Sharma...tell him Jalal Beg Muhammad is here

Ramu Kaka: ummm sure..please come in (Jalal sat down on the sofas with attitude and arrogance)

Rajiv: Mr. Muhammad what brings you here all of a sudden? I thought we talked about this yesterday?

Jalal (stood up): Please call me Jalal..you are older than me...I actually came to talk to you about something important

Rajiv (was taken back with his new attitude): umm Jalal...we can talk upstairs in my office...(both went upstairs)

Jalal (sits on a sofa chair): Actually I wanted to ask your daughter hand in marriage Jodha...

Rajiv (shocked): What!

Jalal: I don't have any elder in my household to speak to you about this matter..so I am here myself (puts his one leg on top of the other and sits back relaxed..looking into eyes)

Rajiv (Gets up from his chair): What makes you think I will give my daughter Jodha in your hand?

Jalal (replies calmly): Well I am successful, quiet handsome, I own many different successful companies and I don't lack anything in my life that you should worry about

Rajiv: I don't know who you think you are but..

Jalal (interrupts him): I like your daughter very much you should be lucky that your daughter is going to marry a rich business man

Rajiv: Is this a way to ask for girls' hand in marriage? (angry)

Jalal: I am only stating some facts..I don't find anything wrong in how I am saying it...

Rajiv (shouts): Leave right now...

Jalal (gets angry): Mr. Sharma this company of yours I could buy it within minutes and leave you with nothing...

Rajiv: Are you threatening me?

Jalal: Call it whatever you want...

Rajiv: Listen (there was a knock on his office door..he goes and opens the door and finds Jodha standing there) Jodha what are you doing here?

Jodha: Papa I wanted to tell you that I am ready to marry him

Rajiv: But beta

Jodha: Papa I know woh mujhe hamesha khush rakhege

Jalal (smiled): Well than I will let you know the wedding date...I should take your leave...see you soon (Jalal left the house)

Rajiv (angry): Jodha are you crazy? Do you know what you just said?

Jodha: Papa I am not a kid..I don't want to see you on the road..you have worked so hard to build your business and besides I have Ma (stops from saying his name) him in the morning he is a nice person..

Rajiv: Listen to me Jodha...(he makes her sit on the chair) Jalal is different from most guys (she looks at him) you have yet to experience the real world...not everyone is like me and your friends Rohit and Meera...I have worked with Jalal and I have personally saw him how he works and how he behaves with others...you are very timid and always get scared easily because you never saw the outside world..(he sighs) it is my fault in a way that I always confined you to just home and college..you don't know that people can be very different..the way you are..I know you will never be able to speak up against anyone not even Ramu Kaka...

Jodha: Papa I met him in the morning..he is really nice...of course when dealing with business you have to be tough...

Rajiv (holds her hand) Don't make any decisions in haste..It is not too late..I will talk to Jalal and tell him that you said no...

Jodha: Papa no..I have decided already...(She leaves the office and goes to her room..she lies on the bed and cries the whole day)

The next day...Jodha comes down for her breakfast...she knew her dad might be still angry with her from yesterday but she had no choice..she couldn't see her dad on the road for everything he worked hard for...she sat on the table thinking about what her tomorrow might hold...she didn't even realize when the door bell rang...ramu kaka went to get the door...Jalal stood there...he came inside and saw Jodha sitting at her table..he went up to her...Jodha felt someone's presence right next to her..she looked up and saw Jalal smiling at her...she dropped the food on the table and stood up

Jodha: Ji papa ghar pe nahi hai (with her head down)

Jalal: I came here to meet you Jodha...I will drop you off to college

Jodha: umm you don't have to...my driver can drop me off

Jalal: No need...you are my responsability from now on and I don't ignore my responsibilities...

Jodha (looks down): ji..I will get my bag...(she went upstairs to get her back...she felt nervous of going with him by herself especially when she doesn't know anything about him..she comes down after a while..Jalal smiles at her as both of them make their way to the car)

Jalal: Jodha you don't have to be nervous around me...I want us to get to know each other better...(Jodha smiled at him feeling better after hearing him say that)

Jodha: Ji

Jalal: So tell me your hobbies, your interests, and about your friends

Jodha: My hobbies are reading...I love reading books especially thriller types...currently I am studying Business Management...and my two best friends are Rohit and Meera

Jalal (only caught Rohits name): Rohit?

Jodha: Yeah he is so lazy..I always end up helping him when it comes to exams...(laughs) you should meet him..he is so nice and sweet...you only after every exam he takes me and Meera for treats...

Jalal: Hmmm (grips the steering wheel hard and tries to pay attention ahead)

Jodha: Aur aap?

Jalal (looks at her): me? Just work and nothing else since I live by myself..I don't have to worry about anything else.

Jodha: Ohh am sorry

Jalal: Don't be..I won't be alone soon (looks at her..Jodha looks down while blushing) Well your college came...

Jodha: Thanx..(she gets out of the car...)

Jalal (leans toward the passenger side): Listen I want to take you out to dinner...

Jodha: woh I don't know if I can come...

Jalal: Why?

Jodha: After college I usually hang out with my friends and plus my mid-exams are coming up I would need to go home and study

Jalal: Alright cancel your plans with your friends and I will bring you home on time so that you can study

Jodha: But ji woh

Jalal (gets out of his car and stands in front of Jodha..she moves back a little seeing him standing this close to her): But nothing...when are you done with your classes? (Telling her rather than asking)

Jodha (looks down): at 5

Jalal: Alright I will pick you up at 5 from here...(Telling her rather than asking) I will wait for you (Jodha nods her head) now go in before you are late...(he saw her walking in college...he was about to leave when he saw Rohit coming from behind Jodha and scares her..she runs after him...he drives off after seeing that upset and angry)

Chapter 6

Suraj: Rajni we will get engaged in two days...I have everything planned

Rajni: Suraj two days?

Suraj (holds her shoulders): Yeah I don't want to delay anymore...you have finally said yes to me after this long time..I don't want to take any chances

Rajni (blushes): can everything be ready in two days?

Suraj: leave that to me...all you have to worry about is looking beautiful...(Jodha nods) ohh by the way I have hired new Textiles company which I heard is really good...I have invited that person to our party as well..

Rajni: You are going to discuss business on our engagement?

Suraj: No of course not..I thought it would be nice you know to invite the person so that he can feel right at home since he agreed to work with me

Rajni: Yeah you are right...

Suraj: Rajni I want to take you to dinner with me? Would you like to come?

Rajni (thinks about the time when she went to dinner for the first time with Jalal...) umm sure...

Suraj: phew I was kind of worried you might say no...anyway I would pick you up at 7...ohh and here (gives her a package) I got this for you for our dinner tonight

Rajni (smiles): What if I had said no?

Suraj: Than I would've kept it with me until you would have said yes (she laughs)

Rajni: Thanx..

Suraj: No need to say thanx...anyway let me drop you home and I will pick you up later ok?

Rajni: sure...(Suraj leaves right after dropping her home...she goes inside and opens the package that Suraj gave her..inside was a beautiful suit with a note) I looked at this suit and thought of you..I know you will look like an angle in this dress...(she smiles after reading the note..she looks at the time it was only 5...Jodha decided to take a nap for an hour..she lies down and closes her eyes remembering her past)

Flashback:

It was around 4:30 pm Jodha and Meera both were in the auditorium watching Rohit practicing for a play for which he got the lead role in (much to her surprise) since the professor from her last class let everyone out early for the day...Jodha was laughing at Rohit since he couldn't get his line right...

Rohit: Jodha stop laughing will you

Jodha: I can't help it if you can't say three simple words..you are saying it like a robot...put some emotions into it will you

Rohit: I am saying it with emotions...It is not my fault that you guys can't understand my emotions...

Jodha: I would understand your emotions if you were saying it right...

Meera: yeah Rohit Jodha is right...you sound like a robot...this is how you sound... I...love...you...put some more emotions into it

Rohit: ok Meera you come here and stand I will bend down on my knees and say those three words and you let me know if I said it right

Meera (looks at her watch): Well look at the time..I got to go..I forgot that I have to walk my dog (she ran out of the auditorium)

Rohit (yelled): but Meera you don't have a dog..(he looked over to Jodha with a smile)

Jodha: No way..I have to go too...I am waiting for someone

Rohit: Please Jodha...help me out...I need to practice please (does a puppy dog face)

Jodha (frustrated): Fine you owe me..I don't know how you got a lead role in this play

Rohit: The same way you got into college...now hurry up and help me...

Jodha: Ok what do I have to do?

Rohit: You stand here in front of me...I will bend down on my knee and take your hand and say I love you..now all you have to do is pretend to be girly...you know put some emotions on your face and pretends to be shocked or whatever and say your lines "Ohh I didn't expect this so soon" (says it in a girly voice)

Jodha: Got it..you may begin...(Rohit got down on his knee...he holds her hand and looks up at Jodha with emotion and says I love you...Jodha smiles at him and before she could say her lines...Jalal came up to Jodha)

Jalal (angry): What is going on here? (Jodha and Rohit were shocked to see him here)

Jodha: aap yahan par kaya kar rahe hai? (With a smile)

Jalal: that is not important...I asked what is going on here? (She was shocked at his anger..Rohit gets up from his knee and looks at Jalal with frustration)

Rohit: chill dude..we were practicing for our play..by the way who are you and what are you doing here?

Jalal (with attitude): I am Jalal Beg Muhammad...

Rohit: Aren't you the same guy that was at Jodha's house?

Jalal: yeah I am...anyway I came here to pick up my mangetar...(Jodha blushes and looks down)

Rohit: Ohh really..who is she? does she go here?

Jalal: Yeah she is standing next to you Jodha..we will both get married by next week

Rohit: What! Jodha you didn't tell me and Meera

Jodha: Woh Rohit I was going to tell you guys today but didn't get the time...

Jalal: Anyway we have to go..(he holds Jodha's hand and starts walking toward the exit)

Jodha: Ji mera haath shoriye..sab dekh rahe hai (he ignores her and walks her to his car..he turns around and holds her shoulders)

Jalal: Listen to me Jodha...I don't like it if anyone holds your hand other than me...I don't care about what everyone thinks...you are going to be married to me soon and I will not tolerate anyone touching you or looking at you

Jodha (looks down scared from his anger): ji woh mera sirf dost hai

Jalal: I don't care who he is... (he lets go of her...Jodha just stands there looking down..he turns around after cooling down) Jodha listen It's just that I love you..I fell in love with you the first time I saw you reading a book on the table...(Jodha looks at him surprised) I am sorry for getting angry..will you forgive me?

Jodha (shakes her head): Ji..par does papa know about tonight he must be worried

Jalal: About what?

Jodha: Dinner?

Jalal: No plus I am only taking my future wife to dinner..he won't mind...now let's go before we get late...(she sits on the passenger side as Jalal drives off)

Jodha: Where are we going Jalal?

Jalal (looks at her): Don't worry it is a surprise (after a while Jalal pulls up in an isolated area..Jodha looks at him shocked) Surprise.I thought we can have our dinner here away from everyone

Jodha: it is nice but I am scared of woods

Jalal: Don't worry I am here with you..now let's go...I have everything set up..(he holds her hand and brings her to a table with candles)

Jodha: Wow it is nice...(she sits on the table...) thank you...where is the food? the table is empty

Jalal: I will serve the food of course

Jodha: ohh a simple restaurant would have been enough..you didn't have to go through this much trouble...

Jalal: what and have all the guys look at you (Jodha laughed thinking he was joking and looked at Jalal's face but seeing his serious face she stops laughing)

Jodha Pov:

wow he took his time out and made this night so special for me...both of us alone and getting to know each other better...he is not as bad as my dad says he is...there is something in him that attracts me..he is perfect just the person i was looking for..I know he will keep me happy and keep me safe no matter what being with him made me forget my fears of jungles..I know when I am with him nothing can happen to me no matter what...omg whenever he picks something up I could see his muscles on his arm...they are so defined and toned..it will make any girls go crazy for him and yet he is here with me making my first date so special...I know he loves me..I can see it in his eyes but there is something in his voice that scares me..I like that he is possessive and that he cares for me maybe he will change after marriage..he has been alone all his life and I can understand that he doesn't want to lose anyone..I don't know what I would've done if I was by myself..(she smiles looking at him putting food on both of their plates...both ate their dinner)

At the end of their dinner...Jalal drops Jodha home..she gets out of the car and was about to go inside when Jalal holds her hand and pulls her to him...

Jalal: You forgot my good night kiss (Jodha blushes and looks down..Jalal brings her chin up and makes her look into his eyes) I love you Jodha..(he whispers..he kisses her cheek and lets go of her..she runs inside without looking at him and goes to her room...Jalal looks up and sees her dad looking at him from the balcony...he looks at him and smiles as he gets into his car and drives off)

End flashback

Jodha wakes up from her dream...she goes to the bathroom and washes her face...she looks in the mirror "Why can't I forget him..why!!!!!!" She sits on the floor crying...she hugs her knees...
