So good to hear from you after a long time :)

Yes, much as i loved JA till the end , with some exceptions in between 😆 , i would have loved to see more depth in the relationship between Jalal and Jodha, considering the serial was all about them and their deep, abiding love. :)

Dear Charu,
I am DELIGHTED to see your post after a LONG time! :) It's a tough phase you are going thru but you are such a sensitive, mature and balanced writer that every word you say makes me think deeply. I read both of your responses here and totally agree with you.

The show is named JA and is supposed to revolve around them. Revolve it does but in a modern, cinematic manner. Like you put it so well, "realism" is missing as also those fine, imperceptible things that made this relationship so strong and popular that it continues to resonate with us, some 5 centuries later.

Enjoy the old episodes - they were quite magical in their own way and are the reason for the continued popularity of the show. 😊

Thank you Radhika, 🤗

I would like to see you write more often. I second Abhay's request. Your pragmatic views are a treat to read and reply to. I am sure that several more readers will agree with me. Your excellent perspective always elicits varied interesting responses from others.

During its second run, the story can be viewed in a totally different light and I am eager to read your fresh views on its daily progress.

Please, please do not disappoint me/us.

Dear Charu, sorry to hear about your hip and knees 😕. Being in pain is no fun.

@ bold above. You hit the nail on the head . Even in the last week of the show it was all about her.
I am following the rerun reviews on SHyamalas thread but not really watching every episode. I did tune in for Shaadi Saptah and am drawn in to how magical the episodes were at that time.

Take care Charu

@bold: Charu, Preet our love for BEK, still is so fresh.. 😆...Cant agree more with you both..

The comments on this thread (and others) on this forum, even during the re - run of Jodha Akbar is a testimony to the fact how much was this show loved by all.

I feel, coming from a different BG , only added up to their advantage , instead of proving to be a barrier.

Hello Abhay, I read your 2 posts on the Shahi Shaadi again over the weekend and you are right they are looong but chock full of valuable information 😛. This is an ideal time for you to remind us of them.

I am currently watching the re runs ( only the shahi shaadi section as of now) and really enjoying these magical episodes. There are few aspects of your posts that especially made an impression on me:

Thanks Preeti,
Shaadi Shaadi week was one of the finest. One can watch it any number of times.

1. The fact that the Akbarnama devotes an entire chapter to this marriage is very significant. especially since no other marraige of his has been given so much importance. I especially loved the Akbarnama's description of the celebrations in Agra when the marriage party entered the city and how this event lead to prosperous times.😳

A separate chapter to explain this wedding - while no other wedding has been described in this manner. Something unusual here. ;-P

2. It is also startling to me the warm words that Fazl uses to describe Heer Kunwari. Again I do not remember him describing any other wife as such.

Same for me. Infact, points 1 and 2 are very revealing, if we try to think.

Akbarnama mentions about the weddings of other lesser known wives of Akbar, but they are in 1-2 lines only. But what was more and MOST surprising for me was the absence of wedding mention (forget a short description) of Ruqaiya Begum's marriage with Akbar. After all, she was a Mughal princess, but surprisingly not mentioned even once in any form in any event, from what i have read till now.

3. The Horoscope you scanned for us from the Akbarnama is absolutely fascinating. I just shared that information of your on Shyamala's thread. It only goes to prove this was indeed a match made in heaven

The horoscope of Akbar was a sudden, by chance discovery, else i was not interested in reading it in Akbarnama. ;-P Glad it was found at the right time and included in the post. It says many things.

4. Finally the views of Dr Lal and Dr Saxena were so heartwarming.

Not only he, many historians are of same view. A documentary on Door Darshan which you and many members have seen also says the same. :)

Thanks for sharing this wonderful information with us Abhay
Welcome.

Not only Abul Fazl mentioned the marriage and HK in such glowing terms but this is the only marriage of Akbar which appears consistently in all the major records(please correct me if I am wrong about this). I read a little bit of Muntakhabh and even Badayuni, the bigot mentions this marriage in a very respectful manner.
I recently read a book by Afzal Husain, who is with Aligarh Muslim University. It is called,"Nobility under Akbar and Jahangir". This is an excellent book and is a great supplement to Akbarnama, TA and others. A lot of key players and how they were connected to Akbar became clear to me.
Anyway, in that book it is mentioned that it was on the suggestion of Chagatai Khan that Bharmal made this marriage offer and Akbar readily accepted, Hmmm.... I remember Abhay had already mentioned this before somewhere. This was very well done in the show.
Another thing I read in the same book which I found super cute was a little snippet about Rahim and Man Singh.
It seems that Rahim's kids used to call Man Singh "Dadaji".
When 11 year old Man Singh came to Agra after the Ak-HK wedding, he was asked to take care of Rahim and play with him.
How cute is that? The author has given a reference for this I don't remember but it started with a Z. The book is at home and me at work.😆 This book is a compilation of the research that the author did for his PhD.

@Underlined, Thats soo cute. 😳 I wish we would have got to see that in the show too. We never got to see Maan Singh ever even talking to little Rahim. Unfortunately, our CV's were more interested in focusing on negative or fictional characters, rather than showing the bonding between the positive or real ones. 🥱
