Chapter 8

Jalal : Jodha u don t have to pretend or make me at ease by being formal with me but...just be urself..i wanted to see the real u ... and i m not all that formal.i don't open up to people quickly...but i would like to take a step forward and make u feel comfortable around me...

He comes forward and gives her a warm hug...They share their first hug...Both felt as if they just got an electric shock...All the family members left and it was time for them to leave...Jodha comes to Jalal...gives a different kind of smile...says nothing and leaves...

Weeks passed...a week prior to their wedding an engagement ceremony took place..wherein they exchanged the rings and were officially announced as to be bride and groom...even though this particular ritual gave them the license to spend time with each other, go for outing but what they preferred the most was discussing new schemes and its benefits...They would spend hours together talking about their ideas nd opinions on various policies...but never spoke anything about each other...Within 2 days after the engagement ceremony both were barred from meeting each other...And this restriction didn't bring any change in them..Jodha started developing a soft corner for Jalal...But they definitely didn't miss each other...Both were excited and a bit anxious to start a new life...

On the phone(during the mehendi ceremony)

Jodha : Hi Mr.Khan...

Jalal : Hello Jodha...stop calling me Mr.Khan...by the way are u done with ur mehendi...

Jodha for a while thought that he called her to know about her mehendi design and the other functions going around...

Jodha : yeah thats why i am able to talk to u now...

Jalal : is it still very fresh or dried a bit...

Jodha : (to herself)what did he just say(irritatingly)...rookha-sookha bye...arre khud toh mere mehendi ke din mujhi se meri mehendi wali hathon se hi mail sent karne ke liye kaha aur upar se i m naive in romance as if he has achieved Ph.D in it...

Half an hour later...She texted him Mail sent...He replied...Thank u..did u like my gift...

Jodha : (to herself) Gift ?what gift?oh GIFT...she was really tired and didn't want to search for the gift so she texted him----- sorry but no time to search for the gift...i m sleepy...

She eagerly waited for his reply...1/2 an hour no reply...1 hour no reply...

2 hours later got the reply oh ok...i don't care...

Jodha : he is soo rude...i m not gonna allow him to win...

She texted him i knew that this would be ur attitude..so lied to u ...i saw ur gift ...to be frank i didn't like it. poor choice...

Reply oh really?exactly what u didn't like about my gift...

Her reply i m sleepy...will talk to u later...

His reply i very well know that u didn't find my gift...

Her reply good night.

Finally the D-Day arrived...Jalal was all dressed in Rajput style as it was mutually decided that first the wedding will take place according to hindu rituals and then they ll perform the nikaah...

(I am not gonna give a description on the rituals)

A day after the Hindu wedding..they followed the muslim wedding rituals and it was then that they were allowed to live in the same room...Their marriage was registered under the Special Marriage Act wherein both can follow their own religion even after the marriage...

All the rituals were done ...finally they were there in their bedroom...Both changed their clothes were ready to retire for the day...Jodha sat on the bed..Jalal looked at her all confused which she noticed...

Jodha : why are u giving me this confused look...listen we both know that nothing is gonna happen between us so whats the problem in sleeping on the same bed...i don't have any problem...and if u r having an issue with it u r free to sleep on the couch..or.. the floor...the room is urs...

Jalal: whoa whoa stop ur imagination ok i m neither gonna sleep on the floor nor on the couch..its my bedroom and my bed...so i ll sleep on my bed only ...and listen...shift to the left side as i m habituated sleeping to the right side...

Jodha : hey Mr i have told u before...its better to change ur habits than mine...i m also habituated sleeping to the right side of the bed...so i m not gonna move a bit...now 2 people cant sleep on the same side so...

Jalal : so what?

Jodha : so sleep wherever u want to but do not disturb me...

Jalal comes to the right side of the bed and slowly bends down...

Jodha : why are u coming so close to me?

Jalal doesn't say anything...Jodha's anxiety reaches its height...she was about to say something when...
