'A big Assignment'

"Haan Maa I am safe!" Jodha said, exasperatedly. "Abhay handled everything quite well," she told her parents, proudly.

"What handled well?" Mainavati said. "I think this is not safe! you should join the family busines-"

"Ma, I have no interest in business," Jodha said, exasperatedly. "Life has to be interesting." She mouthed for her father to say something.

"Go freshen up, I'll handle your mother," Bharmal said quietly.

"Kaash tu aise aaye.. jaise koi dua..

tu rooh ki raahat hai, tu meri abaadat hai.."

"Jodha?"

"Sun Raha hai na tu... kyun ro rahi hoon mein.."

"Jods!" Ruks said, taking her headphones off.

Jodha let go of her microphone. "What?" she asked Rukaiya.

"Uncle, aunty want us down for dinner."

"Haan, let's go," Jodha said, with a small smile.

Rukaiya held her shoulder to stop her from leaving. "you still living in the past?"

Jodha frowned at her. "What?"

"Don't lie to me Jodha," Rukaiya said, giving her a look. "I know that dreamy look on your face. You were daydreaming about him again?"

"I wasn't! I don't even remember Jala-"

Jodha bit her tongue.

"18," Rukaiya told her. "It was the best thing to happen in our life. We got set for college. The new phase of our lives.

Then, Jalal came.. he and you got together for a few days max. Why are you letting those few days ruin your life?"

"It's not ruining my life Rukaiya," Jodha replied, angry at her for bringing it up again. "You forgot that guy.. Varun? or whoever it was... everyone has a crush or two.."

"I didn't love that guy," Rukaiya said. "Breakups happen, but it didn't hurt me as much yours did to you. You're my friend. I know how hard it is to impress you, and I know how easy it is to shatter your heart. Because you're heart is soft!"

"My heart isn't soft!" Jodha scolded her. "I break families by telling wives their husbands' reality."

"You don't break their ties!" Rukaiya said, sounding shocked. "Those husbands do!"

"See, I don't wanna discuss this. I am over it, but apparently you are still stuck there," Jodha told her. "Snap out of it."

"Rule number one: Stay loyal, yes.." Jalal said, reading Adham's list of rules. "It's my company, why wouldn't I be loyal?" he asked, looking up at Adham.

"Cause it's my company," Adham told him. "Now, go on.."

"And mine.. I'm your partner," Jalal said ignoring him.

"5 percent less than me," Adham told him. "I have the final say."

"Rule number two: Stay alert and wise, that I am.."

"There are a hundred rules!" Adham snapped. "Review them in your leisure time."

"Meanwhile, you need to appoint a model for me."

"Me?"

"Yes you Jalal, now get out."

"Fine," Jalal scoffed. He was being treated so unfairly.

"Give your attitude a break," Adham said sternly. "It will get you nothing in life," he added.

"After dad selfishly left, I decided to be bad boy," Jalal said with the same stubborn look as he had had in his childhood.

"He didn't leave willingly! It was God's will!" Adham snapped.

"Don't get started again.. just leave," Adham said gesturing towards the door.

"Come in," Jodha said, and the knocking stopped.

"Jodha there is a new assignment for you."

"What is it Abhay? Is it dangerous?"

"Yes, quite.." Abhay said, "But you have proven to me multiple times, you can handle it."

"Which wife is it this time?"

"It's a businessman," Abhay told her. "Mr. Adham Khan."

"Mr. Ad- what?!" said Jodha, her eyes widening. She recalled Adham's anniversary party. Jalal.

"Well, he has certain rivals he deems dangerous," Abhay said. "Just, he has no clue to prove so. This is where you come in." "Mr. Adham wants you to keep an eye on his rivals."

"Abhay.."

"I can't do this."

"You won't get it."

"I am your boss, I do get it," he told her gently. "I promise you full safety. I am your backup."

"I won't do this one," Jodha said stubbornly.

Abhay glared at her. "You will."

"Won't."

"Will."

"Won't" Abhay said, exasperatedly.

"Will-" Jodha bit her tongue. Abhay chuckled. "Always works!"

"So done, Jodha?"

"Fine," she said, stiffly.

"Review the file, then."

"your chosen Rukaiya Sultan," Ronnie told her, brightly. "Your modeling is quite perfect!"

"I am?" Rukaiya asked brightly.

"Yes," Ronnie said. "I will go inform Adham Sir and of course Jalal sir-"

"Jalal Khan?" Rukaiya asked shocked.

"Well yes.."

"But I thought his older brother always said to media that Jalal isn't ready to join the company?"

"He's a brother, had to melt," Ronnie said rolling his eyes. "What's with you?"

Rukaiya averted her eyes. She thought about Jodha, and then she thought about her golden opportunity. Besides, she was here to model not to hang out with Jalal.

'Personal and Professional lives apart' she thought. 'Jodha won't know.'

"Bless me Kanha," Jodha prayed to her God. "To be successful in this case, like many others!"

The pandit gave her some prasad, and she bent down to take his blessings. "Please pray for me," she requested him.

"I will beta," he told her kindly.

Step One: Get into the rival company.

Precap: Jalal's car almost crashes into Jodha as she run across the road.
