Part 10
"What kind of sir is this? Here, you have barely escaped from those insane goons and now he wants you to take up another project?" 😲 Bharmal asked incredulously.
"Jodha, enough is enough. I gave you freedom to write your own destiny and life not to end it."
"Mama, say something," Jodha said, to her mother.
"Haan, suniye.. I mean no Jodha, Bharmal is absolutely right!" she said, upon receiving Bharmal's daring look.
"Ugh.." Jodha said, pulling on her hair while Menaviti tried to pull her hands away.
"Look Jodha, this is for your own safety. Secondly, no further arguments."
Jodha stomped on the ground angrily and left from there.
She took off her fancy black boots and threw em across the room. One smashed straight into her mirror, almost shattering it.
"There's a limit to overprotectiveness!" Jodha complained, crossing her arms. "Papa can't stop me. I'm just gonna start my next case tomorrow."
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she picked a file up from her bed.
"Dekhiye..ki who is my next client," she said, settling herself in her favorite armchair.
She flipped it open and scanned it. "Adham Sir?"
She read the rest of the file and found out that Adham's rival company has been plotting several schemes to get Adham out of the way. Now Adham wants her to go find evidence against them.
A knot formed in Jodha's stomach, as she thought about this piece of information.
"Is it really worth working for my enemy's older brother?"
"I will work for him," she murmured to herself. "Besides this case will be over in no time."
Jodha thought about what she would have to do next and came up with a plan. She would apply for a position in the rival company. This way Bharmal will be happy (temporarily) and she could also do her job! 'Haan that'll be it.' she thought to herself.
She went downstairs, looking more relaxed now.
"Papa," she said, softly. Bharmal looked away, apparently angry with his daughter.
"Sorry kaha na." Jodha shot her mother a look. "yea, look she is so cutely asking for apology," Mainavati said. "It can't hurt."
"Haan! Plus Papa, I am applying for a job elsewhere!"
Bharmal looked up. "Really?" he asked her, brightly. "Where are you joining? Is.. is this another trick?" he asked her, somewhat seriously.
"No no, nothing," to which her father agreed, but Jodha gave her mother a look.
"I am happy for you Jodha, go ahead," he said giving her permission.
...
Next morning
"Singhania, you dare mess with my brother again, I won't spare you!" Jalal was at his rival's company.
"There are actual ways to be successful you know! Harming my brother will do you no good!"
"Be quiet, bacchu," his enemy Onir told him. "you are only new in this field. Your brother and I have been doing this for years!"
"Haan so," Jalal said. "I'm not scared of you!"
"Remember of the time you got shot? It wasn't meant for you," Onir replied, smilingly.
He paused a moment before continuing. "Ab toh, it could be for you too."
"Whadda you mean?" Jalal said, tensely.
"Bacchu, you entered the field right? You must be prepared for enemies as well?"
A fear crept into Jalal's heart and he tried to not let it show on his face.
"It's best you get out of here as soon as possible," Onir told him. "You know, there are a lot of incidents happening these days." He quoted the word 'incidents'.
"Haan, I'm not scared," Jalal said, his voice weak. Suddenly, he wished that he had listened to his brother and stayed out of it.
"That I can see," Onir said, smirking at him. "Get out!"
"Incidents don't just happen to us, they can happen to you too!" Jalal said, angrily. "Do you think you're the only one who can play games?"
"If Adham finds out, how you were talking...tsk, he wouldn't like it. His younger brother a criminal?"
Jalal bit his tongue. "Get out of here, before you say something else that can go in my advantage," Onir said.
Jalal sighed and left from there.
...
In the entrance, Jalal crashes into a girl.
She cusses at him. "You've dropped all my interview papers!" she said frantically, as she bends down to pick them up.
She looks up at him and gasps.
"Jalal?"
"Jodha?" he said, with the same surprise.
"What are you doing here?" he asked her.
"None of your business," Jodha said coldly.
Jalal felt some of that guilt make its way into his heart. He brushed it aside.
"You came to work here?" he asked her, searching her face.
"Haan!" Jodha said, smiling at him. This was gonna be fun.
"These people are my enemies," Jalal told her. "You don't know how low.."
"So, that's a good thing na?" Jodha told him. "Mere enemy ka enemy mera dost!"
"Look Jo-"
"Don't mess with me Jalal," Jodha said, some of her detective traits making their way into her as she threatened him. Her hands were itching to pull out her safety gun from her boot, to threaten him.
"What will you do, Jodha?" Jalal said to her. "Huh?"
She took her scarf off from her neck and placed it around his. She pulled him towards her with it. She tied a small knot on it.
"Nothing much Jalal, this scarf needs tightening na?" she said, making a move to tighten it on his throat. Jalal shoved her hands away, shocked.
He tried to take it off but Jodha patted him on the shoulder. "Keep it as a small gift," she said. "To remember me, especially when you need to calm your anger."
"Sahi baat hai, people change like-snap!" Jalal said making a gesture.
"Waste of time," she said before making her way past him.
Precap:- Jodha passes her interview.
...
Jalal gives her a visit at her house, In Bharmal and Mainaviti's presence.
"You guys wanna know what kind of daughter, you've got?" he tells them. "What kind of people she works with?"
Jodha gets ready to punch him.
