It doesn't mean that 3 years have passed. If it was the case, the voice over man would have mentioned it. Akbar says 3 years it may mean that the chittor people have been giving shelter to enemies from past 3 years before the birth of HH. I m sure 3 years have not passed.

Guys he said since past three years chittor has been granting safety to his enemies n traitors but that doesn't mean three yrs have passed since the kids death. Pratap has been his enemy since before his marriage to jodha so I think it means 3 yrs since his wedding n u have to remember jodha got pregnant after her wedding anniversary so 2 yrs of marriage n pregnancy n two three months of the children meaning arnd 6-7 months have passed since kids death not more than that.
