The man knows his job better than anybody else there, including Jalal. Birbal's job is to clear up the mess Tansen creates with his concerts.

Jo is back to her pointless best. She didn't want Jalal to really accept the tax from her ... but insisted that she did want him to. Emotional blackmail that was as weak as Jalal worrying about himself being insulted. He doesn't look like he can tie his own shoe laces at the minute.

Now the revenue problem, as you say cannot all depend on one tax. This bit of economic theory was sorted out hundreds of years ago by empires. And going by how Jallu's 'empire' is run, this mass conversion will completely bankrupt Jalal ... Birbal has a tough, easy job in this serial.
