It was such a cruel era for womens

You are right till 20th century women were used for that only usually
But if you go to villages and small towns, poor women in cities and even rich bunglows are treated same way to produce heirs and sons and abused much more than a 16th century. Women are still used as baby making machines in asia, Africa etc and more so in india. But nowadays truth does not come out like 16th century because its all supressed. Atleast in 16th century men admitted I want to kill my father or I killed my father for power, atleast it was written that there was slavery in those times. Even today it exsits but no one admits. Women are still married off to reduce loan and karz and kept as labourers in farms till their parents loan is finished.

There is detailed account of rape and violence against women from day one. Even early man used to keep women chained.

Rapes and violence increased even more since invasions started from Muslim invaders.

Only stigma or looking at violence as usual routine prevented people from openly talking about it.

There is account of women being marauded even in Guru Nanak's writings (he is from Babur times if I am not mistaken).

Rape or discrimination or violence are most definitely not recent phenomena.

Yes even today sons kill siblings or parents but this is why I said that evolution from animalistic nature has happened and is happening gradually. Moral codes came into being recently and even now not fully ingrained in mind.

yes in Asian and African and some other continents men still dominate over women. In india its a given that usually decisions happen as per head of family or a father, husband or son or if not married then as per father or brother usually
Some places like kerala are matriarchal that may be because husbands go away to gulf etc to work and women become head of family. But otherwise india is a male dominated society. Just look at number of women in parliament and assembly, just see the streets after 6-7pm even in big cities majorly men roam the streets and its unsafe for women. Society still does not respect single woman and allows them to live.
Look at the number of women in high position in companies very few. So 21st century is not actually all hunky dory. Yes we have one women norm now. But in those days also only royals, nobels or very rich would marry more than a wife. Who could afford more than one wife even in those days. And if you see many super rich people even today marry more than once except that they divorce previous wife or wives that is bexcause that is law of society. So nothing much has changed in affluent familes even nowadays. The only thing is women are more educated and stand ion own feet rather than take all violence from husband and stay back in house.

yes i fully agree with this
only in the western countries i feel women have real say

But dear what if a man is forced to marry many women not out of choice
Like shah jahan who was forced to marry 3-4 wives for politics sake before marrying his love mumtaz. Shah jahan was engaged to mumtaz for 4 years and during this time he married 4 wives do you think willingly or did his dad/family force him?
Like Salim his marriage fixed by parents although he wanted to marry only nur jahan from small age
Like baz bahadur who married early by his parents wish and later found love with roopmati. Atleast he could marry his love because his father died already. Else do you think he could?
So many instances we can give where even men cannot choose. Today also in small towns and villages a boy or girl cannot dare choose his spouse. Its all arranged based on caste, status etc. If you dare fall in love and revolt society will turn against you, not only your parents, family and relatives you will face full society against you baying for your blood whether you are a commoner or a salim or shah jahan.
So what can those people do except forget their love and bend to parents and society wishes???? Can anyone live by going against society and powerful and rich parents who can buy law or are law themselves(in case of emperor and kings) make society against you? Such people shall face death or expulsion and boycott.
So I do not believe in those days there was no love. Yes someone must have loved truly butt love is not everything. Some people may love truly but they do not have the guts or love their parents and family too equally. Its tough to choose between family and lover in those times. You do not want to be known as someone who brought shame to family going against parents and society norms especially when you are a royal.

Western women have more independence at home and can choose whom to marry because they are independent and work and stay by themselves from age of 18. And a woman can stay single independently and society does not look at her as bad.
Indian women stay with family and parents even if they work and are independent so they cannot choose that easily or go against them. In india and Asia single women are considered bad and society thinks they are bad and hence staying single leaving parents or husband. Its a mindset of society.
But even in western country women are minimal in top positions corporate or politics. Its dominated by men only. Same as in asia/india.

You made a very good point. The answer is no. You can not have "True Love" with one person while having multiple wives.
That is why when movies are made about love story of Jodha Akbar or Shah Jahan Mumtaz, other wives are not shown. Because then you can't make the audience believe that what they had was True Love.

However, you can certainly like one person more than the others. Hence the concept of favourite wife and so on.

Forget about Jodha in this series, I, as an audience will have hard time believing in Jodha Akbar love story after this twist.

The talk here is not about religion. The talk is about true love.

I just explained about polygam.
even love does not make the man belonged to one woman only.

Rasha, love alone can make a man belong to one woman. Nothing else will. I have a lot of Muslim friends, all of them has one wife or is the only wife of their husband. Only because you got the right in your religion, does not mean you have to exercise it. The only reason a man does that is when he does not love any woman.
