Hi Adi, now this is an interesting question to address, because it goes to the heart of most EK shows. Men are shown strong and appealing at the start and then once we and the heroine are completely in his spell, he turns into an impostor we can't recognise. But by now it's too late and we are all stuck! EK sticks to this formula to cater to her audience which she knows well. I have not figured out why they start with a strong likeable male protagonist. Why not just have only a female and work from there?? Only thing left is to decide whether to watch or not. At least we have that choice and I certainly stopped more than 2 months ago - even before the milan in late May.
The reason I stopped is best summed up by sunny's post below

to tell the truth even by Ek standard..the romantic scenes in this show are pathetic off late...it puts one to sleep instead of touching any corner of your heart ..very badly written
the person who wrote the episode earlier is not the same who writes now and it is very obvious ..so is the direction ...romance is the play of words ,eyes and emotions which is glaringly missing inspite of the numerous lep and lap ...see the aarthi scene of the early days or the banter of badal and kajri...sighhh
after badal kajri, something went wrong with the writing. I initially even thought it was Paridhi's interpretation of Jo that was faulty, but now I realise it was a change in the script - Just around the time Jalal was attempting to reconcile with her, I went from sympathising with her to not being able to see eye to eye with her. Actually both Jalal and Jodha's characters were butchered and we were left with random behaviour from both.
Just goes to show, when they meddle with one character, the other suffers as well.
Is it fair to say that another accurate barometer of things going downhill for Jalal is what happens in the DEK ? Protocol was systematically dismantled and disregarded until now it's as flexible as a family living room. CVs started quite solidly and established a framework for the story, but half way through, they moved the goal posts and have lost their way. Or as sunny says, new writers came in and they did their own thing. As long as trps stayed above a certain level and the channel was happy, nothing else really mattered. Not sure what any viewer can do about this, but it's interesting to see these same patterns repeat.
