Amidst all these ironies, stands one person who does not differentiate or show impartiality - Jalal, a Shehenshah of Shehenshah, who has lost the support of a shoulder when in need, when he has always been a rock/shoulder for those who needed it.
I am not pessimistic for the future- but felt today was a sad day for the characters of Jodha Akbar.
👏
The Jodha-Jalal relationship is nowhere closer to reaching a culmination and I had no idea what the Kali Ma scene achieved (cos she still seems to be where she was on day 1 with all this!👎🏼)
Something, I can't quite put a finger on what - but, something is too wrong with her portrayal in this track...if this track was to evoke sympathy for her, I'm sorry but it's not working...if this track was to emphasize on epic love, I'm sorry it's the shoddiest depiction of epic love ever!
She is coming out quite cold, stubborn and dare I say heartless. They're showing her overlook an injured man, still sticking to how SHE is right when she admits to Mainawati that it was all circumstantial etc - the list is endless. If she took a decision of not joining him because she is afraid of being hurt again and doesn't want to lose her self-respect - then, shouldn't we see a different set of reactions in his absence - especially since she says her love for him is at its pinnacle!
There is little desperation on her face about the absence of Jalal in her life - unlike him who still remembers her absence despite the humiliations he just faced and despite facing the biggest blow of his life in the form of MA. She is just looking equally blank in all the scenes. In fact, in the mandir scene till she recalled Jalal's face she looked quite content to me.
I want to see 'pining' from Jodha but all I'm getting are the same dialogues. 😒 I thought she was putting up natak in front of Jalal, but would become so heartbroken after he left. She knows she made a mistake too, then what's the point of her stance and sticking to guroor even in his absence?
I'm not saying she should go running back for this, I'm not saying she should apologize instantly - BUT and a big but - I thought she'd show the same amount of 'love' that she talks about for Jalal in Amer which she has not! Just by saying you love someone it cannot be believed... because even MA said she loves him. You need to SHOW it through your actions and reactions which she is not!
Isn't that what epic love is about?
We need more intense scenes from her end - hallucinations, better flashbacks, sleepless nights - tossing and turning in bed, her instincts telling her that something is wrong with Jalal and that he is in trouble (with this MA thing or even during the Abul Maali attack), her lack of interest in dressing because the one man who's supposed to admire her is not in her life now, her sleeping beside the kerchief (maybe throwing it away once and then picking it back in her hand - or even having a conversation or two with it😉) her beginning to taste the flavours of foods that he likes because she misses him so much, she practising her sword fighting but cannot concentrate for a bit since she keeps seeing his profile in front, maybe gets a bit injured in the process and the blood that oozes out of her finger reminds her of his blood on her maang, remembering him every time she fills her maang, any reflection of water reminding her of the reflection of his face - at one point she should look like his absence in her life is driving her insane - LITERALLY...till she says 'No more...my ego IS him...my pride IS him...my abhimaan IS him... and I need it back!'
No one else needs to see all this part of her ^^^ she can keep it to herself. But in her solitude, this is how she must be na if the 'love' she talks about has kadaachith gone up. How is it epic love otherwise?
Now if she goes back on Friday also, it feels more like a compromise...even if she says she's going for Jalal! Like she's going back because she got bored of listening to Bharmal, Mainawati, Shehnaaz and Shaguni Bai's advice..
