It seems just like yesterday we were thinking this track is about Jodha fighting for her self-identity. We were so taken up with her cause. We were convinced that words could not reassure her; Jalal needed to do show thru actions just how much he had changed and how much he was willing to respect and trust Jodha as an individual.
On Friday, when Jalal pleaded with Jodha, his head bowed down and hands folded in front of her, many of us were swayed by his humility and his yearning for forgiveness from Jodha. We could not believe that she could be so hard-hearted as to bluntly refuse to forgive him or accompany him, even for the sake of HB or little Rahim. We were crying with Jalal, feeling his aching heart, broken spirit, flagging optimism and rising frustration against what Jalal and we felt was Jodha's guroor.Yesterday, we saw the two mothers take their children to task, pointing out in so many words just how they had failed to live upto the values of the family, and had grievously and ungratefully hurt the other, ignoring all that the other had done for them. Here again, Mainavati pointed to Jodha that it was "hurt pride rather than any genuine distress" (courtesy Liz Bennett) that was preventing her from forgiving Jalal and going home with him. And we found ourselves agreeing with her. Even those of us who were aghast at Jalal using the guroor word for Jodha fell in line with Mainavati's judgement. Her exact words were that Jodha should not raise a wall of pride so high that her heart's voice could not cross it and reach her. This is where the theme of this thread steps in.A wall of pride, a protective barrier, an empty ego shell, ... so many epithets have been used to describe Jodha's unwillingness to accept her love for Jalal and stay away from him churlishly. Even though she herself is broken and forlorn. What has happened that is changing our perception of Jodha from a woman wronged by her husband to a woman who is deliberately hurting her husband by not forgiving him? We did not want her to go back to Jalal till he could reassure her through concrete evidence that she would be always respected and trusted in Agra and that he would never cast aspersions on her character or ride roughshod on her feelings and opinions. And now, we can't wait for her to go back to Agra, even though he has still not used the trust word with her, reassured her in any manner about a secure future in Agra or performed any acts to show his lifelong commitment to her. Is it just because we saw how totally broken and lifeless Jalal looked yesterday? He may be justified in believing that he had well and truly lost Jodha. But why are we, who know better, getting so despondent on her staying away still? Are we unable to see how grief-stricken and equally broken and lifeless Jodha looks? True both are suffering because they miss each other. But hadn't we all endorsed this separation as the only remedy that would change their outlook and force Jalal to give to her the respect due to her? Hadn't we felt that she would never get any respect from anyone and would even fall in her own eyes if she went back silently, accepting his apology at its face value?I have no problem if Jodha goes running barefoot to Jalal and falls in line with his wishes and foregoes her own identity. I am just wondering why our heart is so fickle? Why does it keep turning here and there when nothing outside has changed? What drives our heart and our mind? What factors do we take into account when we judge some event/person and try to reach a conclusion? Please share your thoughts on this. 😊PS: I understand the hurt and pain of both Jalal and Jodha and want them to be together as soon as possible. I am just unable to understand why we keep changing our wishes like this, when circumstances have not changed?

Fabulous posts all, but I differ somewhat..and daring to post before you awesome debators..
Well jodhas dilemma is her screaming of place and space in jalals life.Jalal here doesn't face this problem, see the out burst of jalal when he thought someone else is more important for jodha than him.Now he's feeling the void only as Jodha is away he's not a bit insecure. In the same way Jodha feels possessive, and now I opine that the Jodha Begum should return to Agra with all her fiesty attitude of Shehensha's beloved...I really really hope saleema tells her when she comes to Agra for Shivani marriage that Jalal accepted before all in Agra that he loves her.Jodha is surroundd by What If' s..What If I return and then I again has to face Maham and Ruquaiah taunts...?If I get less importance once again?I have to stand up and bear taunts when my husband comes and sleeps in my room?Jodha is victim in many of the plots still undisclosedthe boatride in which she was roughly pulled by ruquaiah and accused of seizing opportunity from her, made her further jittery everyday everytime..yet she moved on because she had jalals faith. She has shattered due to faiths loss..Half of the responsibility for this loss was unfortunately hers tooJodha is that begum of jalal who's neither a relative nor a friend of his...she's just a wife brought by him on entirely his wish..by an alliance..reasons can be many.So whom else other than Jalal is she expected to recognise? She comes from a different value system where there's no divorce or remarriage so all her existence after marriage clung to jalal...she has no other life. That's why hameeda, rahim or anybody else fails to have that effect. ..which Jalal has on her.So she is afraid what if it happens again..?Earlier she used to take it all with a pinch of salt...but she's extra sensitive now as she's in love.So to set the ball rolling Jodha when she comes to Agra she has to come with a positive mindset to start things afresh. ..And Jalal should also instead of seeing a teary Jalal I want a regal emperor giving his favourite and the only beloved lavish treatment before all..not in material but in every sense that she is very special to him and his life.

yes I'm all in a royal way of indulging his queen..a king confident of his charms that his mere presence gives goosebumps to His love...I want to see His Majesty in love and Jodha thoroughly enjoying the attention..with a😳
I agree with this too and especially the point that she's extra sensitive because of love. It's not hurt pride. It's something else, love for Jalal. Although from her behaviour, she's hiding behind the pride disguise. It doesn't fool me or move me for a minute. And I also agree that Jalal needs to drop this Majnu avatar. It would be nice to see them being a bit cool and regal and completely correct in all etiquette, while their love simmers just below the surface. Royal love story, CVs, please give us a Royal love story. 😊
Why do people analyze one should learn to trust only then he can respect the Love. When one loves the other, where does the question of missing trust arise as it is the shadow of love? Though trust is thin line and at times indirectly proportion to love and that Is why when the light is over the head, we can't see the shadow as it falls directly under our feet. Just because of that, we can't give a verdict that shadow left us at the time of need. When the effect on love is strong and we falters and feel that the trust has evaporated to thin air. But it is not the case, with the intensity of jealousy it goes unnoticed but never run away. Once we trust / love someone, even if we tend to think we lost it, it will never go away from us but linger somewhere in some corner. Then it can never go missing when the one is still completely & irrevocably in love with other.
Just because clouds cover the SUN for some time, we can't say the Sun has gone or call the clouds stronger than Sun rays. Sun will always be there in the sky despite of any weather, be it a sunny day or a cloudy day or Windy. The sun rays are too strong to get through the clouds and if required can shred them to pieces and make then cry in the form of Rain. So just because there will be some confusion about the feelings or some heated arguments, it doesn't mean people lost their trust on the other person. It hurts more when the trusted one gives the pain than a 3rd person or whom we care a damn.
This is my first try, so please ignore any mistakes. I have no intention of hurting anyone with my writing. The characters in this story are the...
