Hi Mansi,
Great review!
A public statement is always more evocative than a private apology esp from a man of action. Even after the Ben track, Jodha was deeply moved by Jalal's speech to the awam. Here too she is intensely affected by his speech. Both times, Jalal was unaware that Jodha was listening to him keenly.
Jodha is happy that Todarmal is taking care of Jalal but she cannot help feeling worried and finally takes her lep to him. For a moment, I thought Jalal may recognize that only Jodha can make a lep for him like that, but it was not to be. 😕
She was going through the very same feelings as he was. Only difference was that he was ready to risk "mohabbat" in his life again for he knew he couldn't live without it. But she still feared risking "mohabbat" in her life and was unprepared as yet to let it fill her life and then carry away her life if it should be gone again.I believe there is a reason why there is a difference between the two here. Jalal can let Jodha's love fill his life again because he is so sure that she will never betray that love and trust. All the times he has doubted her, mistrusted her, she has emerged innocent and pure. But how can Jodha risk Jalal's love filling her heart again because he has doubted her so many times in the past and the last time has been the worst show of lack of faith in her. Jalal has nothing to lose if Jodha returns to him. But Jodha has a lot at stake. She has gathered the last remnants of her pride and courage in eking out an independent life. If she believes his words and goes back, and if she is again thrown out like this, she won't have anything left to either live independently or die with dignity. Whatever anyone says, I believe Jodha should go to Jalal, only when she is 100% certain of his unshakeable faith in her (of love, she has no doubt). Otherwise, there will always be a chasm between the two. A part of her will always dread what tomorrow may bring her way. And this terror shall always keep her reserved with Jalal and prevent her from giving herself to him completely. What you have written Radhika makes a lot of sense to me. I also feel there's one more reason for this apparent difference in the way both are feeling now i.e. Jalal being more ready for love that Jodha. I think different people have different speeds at which tey process inner feelings. maybe Jalal is naturally faster than Jodha at this. Regardless of how deeply they felt about the trust issues between them, the simpler explanation could be that she needs generally more time to recover from setbacks than he does. I personally don't have anny problem with that and I cannot understand why so many people on the forum are discussing why Jodha is as yet unready while Jalal is so ready! Just because Jodha needs more time, she can't be condemned as "without sufficient feelings".
Two people in the same place, feeling the same sense of loss. One is ready to speak of it, and take the plunge again. The other is unready to speak of it or take the plunge again. Her silence was as eloquent as his words, I thought!
He defended mohabbat and with that part of his bhashan she was of one mind. But it was the part where he said what loss of mohabbat can bring where he and she reacted differently. He was saying "I am ready for it again, and this time I will not let it go". She was saying "I am not ready for it, in case it lets go of me!"Like I said earlier, he can take the plunge because it's in his hands to make what he wants of his life. But how can she take the plunge because she will be at the mercy of Jalal and her life will be what he makes of it. He is ready because he knows Jodha won't let go of him. She is not ready because she doesn't know if he will hold onto her forever.
One Year of MarriageIt's one year, yes. After all they were married in February and the winter has gone. Shivratri was already celebrated in the Ben track and even Meena bazaar. In fact, they are late with the Holi celebrations. Holi is usually a fortnight after Shivratri.
One year down the line, nothing has changed for Jodha. The previous Holi also, she was thrown out of Agra and had the doors of Amer shut in her face. This Holi too, she is out on the streets, (figuratively speaking), with nowhere to go. Holi seems to bring a jinx in her life.
From Jalal's POV, last year, he had saved her from a suicide bid and offered her a place in the Agra palace again. This time too, he has come to take her back home. But this time, he is ready to offer her a place in his life and heart.Nicely put!👏👏👏👏👏Jalal remembers the last time Jodha applied lep on him,
Actually this was the first time Jodha applied lep to him. Is it a coincidence both remember this incident only at the same time?
the way he told Jalal that he recognised him was in itself a lesson in how to reveal critical information in the most graceful way possible.Didn't Jalal understand that Todarmal had recognized him when he gave Jalal Humayun's mohur? I thought he had understood then only. Maybe I was wrong.I thought he was moved by Todarmal giving him Humayun's mohur but he never really registered his awareness that Todarmal knew his identity. It was equally befitting that Jalal should be so open with this open and honest manYes, Jalal is usually reticent about his matters. But he knew instinctively that he could trust Todarmal even in such a delicate matter. This is a huge compliment to Todarmal because Jalal hasn't opened up about the Jodha matter completely with even his closest family and confidantes like Atga. The contrast between Todarmal and the crass members of his family is too stark to miss!
What a contrast he will be to the crass souls like Maham, Adham and Sharif at Jalal's court when he goes to Agra with Jalal. I loved the scene so much that I saw it repeatedly, and not for Jalal, but to see Todarmal in action. Really the choice of actor in this case is great, his voice and diction are so gracious, and he really comes across as old-style absolute "gentleman" who knows when to talk and when to listen. It was such a grand scene for me, that I felt the whole episode was worth it because the episode ended with the words of Todarmal touching my heart as much as Jalal's! They don't make men like these nowadays!
Fortunately, Todarmal and Jalal won't have to put up with MA and AK for long after returning to Agra.It seems to say that Jalal will fake his own death to make Jodha relent and accept his apology! But Mansi, I don't like this. If Jodha learns that he had faked it to make her relent, there may be a further erosion of faith in Jalal on her part. If Jodha falls for such theatrics and goes back with him, it will not be the right thing. Because it will not show the solidification of faith in Jodha. And without faith, Jodha will never be able to give herself to Jalal completely.I am able to understand why Jalal would try to pretend he was dead to get Jodha to relent and accept his apology ... after all, it was when she was thought to be dying that he got to confess his love for her to himself and to God. So since it happened for him like that when the revelation came, maybe he thinks she too will reat similarly if she thought he was also on his deathbed. I guess he realises that to overcome her reluctance, she needs a bit of a jolt! Please see this link about my take on yesterday's episode:

Mansi super post. You write beautifully and also with great love and respect for the characters. There is never any passing of judgement from you, nor hatred for any character. So your word carries so much weight.
I have to watch episode after reading your post with fresh mind again to see it through your eyes.
I guess the impatience everyone is feeling for "the meeting" is reflected in slight disappointment towards Jodha. Jalal has been searching for her, why is she not even willing to meet!
I don't think there is any doubt in Jodha's mind now about her love for Jalal. Nor does she have doubt about Jalal feeling love for her.
The issue here is trust and for Jodha it has always been the most crucial part. Remember the first positive thing Jodha told Jalal was 'hum aapse ab ghrina nahi karte, kyonki aap wo hai jo ab humpe vishwas karte hai'. How did Jalal forget this? For Jodha there can be no relationship without trust, and even when she feels such deep love, she knows without trust there can really be no relationship.
We have seen Jalal's repetence, his misery so it is as if HE has done more to reconcile while Jodha is hiding away.
Jodha does not know any of this. Yesterday was the first time she saw him after his accusing her with some very ugly words and telling her to leave in the dead of night. Just imagine if Jalal had met her next morning, we would want her to NOT forgive him. Just cos we have seen time passing and his repentance does not mean she can just forget everything instantly! She has been trying to get on with her life away from Agra but most importantly from him. She cannot confide in anybody but her Kanha. There too she does not have much privacy since this Shehnaz seems to be clinging to her with all her might!
Jalal is always very flamboyant in his hatred, expressing feeling and only Jodha ever gets the best and also the worst in him. He has not much control over his emotions when it comes to her. He sees only with Jodha can he have a life he never imagined existed or possible.
Jodha on the other hand started from extreme ghrina and hers has been slow but steady progress. For Jodha once she fell in love it was total and deep. So the hesitancy in acknowledging her feelings, she herself is hesitant and bit scared. Cos Jodha knows she drives Jalal to extreme feelings.
Why does Jalal doubt her or not trust her? I would think the person who tells you openly to your face that she feels only ghrina for him, who truly never wanted anything from him, not from Shehenshah. Whatever she asked him for as Shehenshah was FOR him not from him. So when Jodha says something why Jalal needs proofs?
Jodha has understood and got over the Sujamal part in Jalal's blasting her. To me what hurt her most was that her most selfless act, where she saved Jalal's life and almost gave up her own, in his anger he termed that as her revenge! He threw that in her face. Jodha went through extreme humiliations not just private but public during Ben matter. She just cast them all aside and only thought about Jalal's safety. When she thought she had his trust again she was happiest. She was so eager to let all the hurts of the past go so that she can start with him again.
The same accusations were leveled against Jodha during fake MC track. That time she had her hatred to give her strength. She believed her judgement about him was correct and that and the false accusations made her stand up to him.
This time she is at totally different place, just like after vishpaan Jalal thought now all that he has to do is show patience and she will be where he is, Jodha also thought that all the insults, pain, hurt she felt in Agra was behind her. When Jalal professed his trust in her, she thought finally she has his trust and faith.
It was not his accusations but the manner of them hurt her to the core. How can he question her most selfless act and turn into something so ugly? If he can do that then is there any foundation at all for them to stand?
Here again in Mathura, how can Jodha know Jalal has not come to meet her only because her loves her. He got the truth about Sujamal and knew his accusations were wrong so for his love for her he wants her back. What about trust?
How does Jodha know Jalal's actions are not only driven by love and guilt? For her trust is supreme, more so because she has been put through so many loyalty proof tests, that she was justified in thinking finally she has earned his trust.
So his extreme reaction, which stemmed from his love but also hate recoiled her. How can she go through this again and again?
Just cos Jodha is not as flamboyant about expressing her feelings does not mean they do not run as deep in fact deeper. So how can she again risk everything. She once tried to give up her life, she still tried her best, why won't Jodha think that maybe even her best is not good enough for him?
Also she has seen he needs proofs only from her! He gives his trust blindly to some people. He has faith in them even when she can see they do not deserve it. What else can she do for him that he can have this trust in her?
Now Jodha thinks after all this if she has not earned his trust then she might never will. To her trust goes hand in hand with love, so how can she risk everything again.
I so hope we do not just get to see Jalal say sorry, Jodha refuse, his big dramatic act to make her realize her love. That is all ok - they both now know they love each other. HOW WILL THAT SHOW HER HE NOW HAS FULL TRUST IN HER? AND TILL WHEN? HOW CAN SHE BE WRONG IN THINKING IF HIS TRUST WILL STAY?
If anything Jalal has shown her extreme reactions. Now is she wants his steadfast trust why is wrong in expecting that. If she feels she has not been able to earn it after doing everything she can - then she feeling scared is very justified.
Can we also honestly say Jalal will not again get taken in and accuse her of something? Jodha is just trying to protect herself.
It is upto Jalal to assure her of his trust now, love she knows. They need to have talks and he has to show her by actions.

Oh my God Maddy, what divine hand has blessed you today? Your post is so inspiring that I cannot believe how anyone can write like this! I am reading it again and again and each time something else is jumping out at me.I think your post is desperately needed at this time when the forum seems to be full of those who are needlessly looking down on Jodha and seeing her as less than Jalal at this stage. Thanks for saying all the correct things and for bringing in this much needed perspective on this whole issue.Basically Maddy, how can we have a love story where both are feeling exactly the same way all the time like a pair of twins? Naturally one person may evolve faster or slower than another person, and the same with any two lovers, right? How is it even realistic to expect that all the time Jalal and Jodha will both think exactly alike at the same speed of evolution as each other. I cannot understand this expectation!

Maddy, you and everybody who adds to my posts and writes on this thread every day deserve kudos. We are all consciously keeping this thread clean and balanced ... and we are contributing impartiality of attitude, decency in discourse and really valuable deeply-thought points of view. Thanks everybody for helping make this thread inspirational rather than irrational. I have noticed that we all have varied points of view but we never try to impose our views on others and we also do not believe in trashing characters, actors and the like. What's the point of doing that anyway? Is anybody giving a certificate for how "bashing" a post is?
