Though I know that CV's have to take certain creative liberty, I have a few doubts. Hope somebody in the forum will help me figure things out.

1. Were cases like Mazhar's actually brought in front of Shehenshah in those days? Did they have some lower court kind of system or they used to directly approach the Apex Court?

2. Even if these cases are brought in front of the emperor, would it be in Diwan-e-Khas or Diwan-e-Aam?

3. Did the Vizier or Vizier-e-Aliya get involved in the recruitment process, icluding BG check? They didn't have the HR equivalent in those days?

I'm not too good in history. Would appreciate the answers.

1. yes ppl could bring any case to the Emperor. This happens even today in rural set ups btw.

2. It could be either DEK or DEA. In this case since the two women were servants of the palace DEK possibility is higher.

3. MA was in charge of the harem security so yes she would be involved in the verification of new recruits since that does come under the perview of the harem security head. Plus in this case the Begum-e-khas has made her responsible for the verification.

😉 😆😆 I don't think so. But, it was a peculiar case of 2 harem girls involved in a fight for one man, that too inside the Agra fort. So, it was brought to the notice of the emperor.

But, yes.. It also happens that the emperor can forward / propose an alliance (that comes to his eyes) to the notice of any of his courtiers if they have a son or daughter of marriageable age. I think, that is how his Courtier Ghias Beg's daughter Meherunnisa's (Noorjehan) first marriage happened. But, am not sure.

Hindustan ke kuch villages mei chale jao toh pata chalega - aaj bhi log shaadi, gaon ke sabse pratishtith vyakti ko bata ke, uski anumati le kar karte hain - this is the feudal mindset for you - and why look far - Rajasthan is a perfect example for this!!!

Do you know that even today when members of the royal family come in public in Rajasthan ppl do pranams by falling totally flat on the floor / road whatever - and let me tell you that of that particular period - 16th century - in India - amongst all the rulers - big or small - Only Akbar was against this practice of dandawat pranam - and only allowed it on few occasions in his private chambers and where he was unable to dissuade the person from doing so!!!
