Understanding Ruqaiya's lost heart...

I think Rukku loves Jalal just as a friend but never as a man. Why? Because if she loves him as her man, she will never fix his wedding to Benazir just to remove Jodha from his life. If you love a man, you can't bear the thought of letting ANY woman come close to him. To remove THE OTHER woman in his life, you yourselves will stick to him and give no room for the other woman.

Please don't tell me that she is lack of people to teach her, even if she is not comfortable with Hamida Bano, she always has Gulbadan at her side. Unlike Jalal who really had no other guy friend to turn to until MH came. All she has to do is ask. And even MA used to gave her good advise before Jodha came to their life. Like, when Jalal cried because BK died, MA advised her to stick to Jalal's side but she loves her job too much that she ran to solve harem issues and left him crying alone without consolation.

If you ask me if she should get a second chance? As a friend, yes Jalal should. Considering that they had been married for 10 years and she was there during his struggle. I guess Jalal too know that she at least deserve that, so that is why she will still remain as his Chief Queen.

But a chance as a lover, it will be too unfair to ask Jalal to do that because the chance to be lover between them had long gone. Because both of them failed to turn their 10% chance to be a lover when they first get married to 100% lover after 10 years of marriage. And, like I said, I don't think that Rukku loves him. Even if she does loves him in her twisted way, who can prevent God's will.

I understand why Rukku is attach to her audha. It was not because she loved him but he didn't love her back so audha is the only thing she has, some of forum members might disagree with this. But, it is because she really does love being powerful. Because of her childhood was full with power struggle, she believes that one should stay powerful to survive. In the same childhood that Jalal lost his heart in order to be the great powerful king, Rukku also lost her heart in order to survive. That is the reason why she is ready to attack whoever comes between her and her audha. She is just reacting like this because she felt threaten and she need to survive at any cost.

And here is what I'm thinking, and my wildest hope is that CV too think like I do.
Harem too is a place of power struggle. Woman with strong supporter usually success in harem. Maybe CV didn't show it in the serial but real Harem was. For Rukku, although she is a Mughal princess and rich, she doesn't has any strong and powerful family member or supporter in the king's court who will speak for her. Her only hope is a son but she is childless. Yes, she has Jalal who is her King husband and bestfriend. But when he pass away, the power will be gone too. That is why she needs to be Jalal's only Chief Queen or Jalal's most special Chief Queen.

In Mughal Dynasty like in Eastern Asian Dynasties (Mongolia, China, Japan and Korea), it is not weird if the King gives his son from just a low and/or unloved concubine to his most special and trusted childless Chief Queen to be groom as the next king and being an official next king's mother will surely secure her power till she die. That is why she doesn't mind arranging which concubine and wife that will spend time with the King. And the supporters of the real mother will forever support her too for she had arrange the real mother's schedule with the king until she is pregnant with the heir.

Nevertheless, I feel sorry for her because she is the example of 16th century woman that married to someone she doesn't love as a man and that someone too doesn't love her as a woman. A perfect reason why 16th century women trained to believe that marriage is not about love but about family and heir.

nicely pointed out 👏
ya i too feel she dnt love jalal at all her only concern is to reign as chief queen even when jalal was injured all she could think of was that if he dies what would happen to her powers while jo thought of how to save jalal not about power etc
though jalal must have had many wives but ruku never had felt threatned as no1 is as wise sharp intellectual rightous courageous brave as jo no woman infact except ruku n jo has ever challenged jalal's wisdom n sense of justice.ruku for d first time sees in jo an equal match a potential opponent who can dislodge her from her aspirations so she is now trying her best to ruin jo.

jalal dont love ruku.i have doubts jalal treats her more like a legal shrewd political advisor only not as life partner or humsafar 😆 he fancys jo more as his soul mate than any1 out there in palace as his queen.a woman who can refuse him/any man is always more alluring to jalal or any other man too😉
besides jo's heart is better than rukus she has compassion 4 every1 so jalal loves jo more 😊

well both love each other just as friends. i dont agree tht both r stuck with each other just bcoz they r husband-wife or their relation is just about a heir. their relationship is also real & their friendship is without any power or position. jalal really cares for her & we had seen it even during murti issue. but when it comes to love as a lover, jalal didnt fell in love with her, bcoz love doesnt happen evrywhere. his is in love with jodha thts a fact. ruku also cares for jalal & the best eg. is she slapped hoshiyar when he told her to kill jodha's baby, despite she knew tht she might loose MUZ auda. but ruku's problems r tht she cant tolerate the fact tht jalal can be mentally or emotionally involved with other women. as u said both jalal & ruku had troubling childhood & they had learnt from childhood tht they can survive only bcoz of power & position. but despite all the wrongs jalal did, he havent completely lost his emotions. thts why he felt for abdul, zaheer or BK even when jo was not there. but sumhow ruku had lost her emotions, & thts why when jalal was upset about BK's death, she wasnt bothered about it. as days passed by her auda obession increased & it became imp. to maintain it. she felt tht if she looses power she might loose jalal as well. 2ndly, jalal is the person who always tried to learn from his mistakes, but ruku never tries to do tht. as per polygamy goes those days it was common. & jealousy was also a normal thing. as salima had said even she was jealous of BK's 1st wife. but its the queen's responsibility in those times how to handle it. as per jalal goes he had given ruku enough imp. & freedom, so we cant say tht jalal didnt cared for her. he loved her as well. but regarding love as a lover, most of the relationships in those days were arranged so if she wants love from jalal as a lover it will be a wishful thinking.

Excellent, Munni, i could not have done it better myself. The parts I liked the best are @blue.

One point, even today, throughout Asia, most marriages are arranged, often between well qualified working professionals. Compatibility is obviously more important to these young people, who perhaps, seeing the escalating divorce rates in the West, distrust the concept of " romantic love" as a pre-requisite for marriage. I was astonished to see Jodha stating this last in one of the recent episodes about that baandi, and she was brought up to marry whomsoever her father chose for her!

A very interesting take on this evergreen subject. I would have commented at greater length if my eyes had been up to it. I particularly liked the parts @blue.

But I have clear reservations about your last para. Why limit yourself, in a condescending manner, to the 16th century? The statistical fact is that, as I noted above to Munni, even today, throughout Asia, a very large number of marriages are arranged, often between well qualified working professionals, as per their choice. Compatibility and security are obviously more important to these young people, who perhaps, seeing the escalating divorce rates in the West, distrust the concept of " romantic love" as a pre-requisite for marriage.

The majority of such arranged marriages do very well, for marriage is about much more that just romantic love between the man and the woman. Which often fades away, and at times turns into its opposite, otherwise there would not be so many divorces in countries where love marriages are the norm.

I was thus astonished to see Jodha stating in one of the recent episodes about that baandi, that prem was necessary for a vivah. And she was brought up to marry whomsoever her father chose for her!

Is Ruq good at heart? This itself is debatable, how do we define a good person? Just because a person is good just to one person, and thinks that the person is in shell makes that person good or being bad to one person makes that person bad?
The problem with Ruq is, she loves herself too much and she thinks that she loves Jalal, but she is very insecured and she wants to be loved or being pampered only by one person. Infact she doesn't even want to be loved, she wants attention, power and the thought that she is irreplaceable is needed.
And yes she slapped Hoshiyaar when he said to kill the unborn child of Jodha because it was Jalal's, like Adi said in another thread, she was ok about this because Jo wasn't in love with Jalal or she wanted to be close to him, so she never felt the threat of being neglected, even though she was hurt that she was loosing the position of Muz.
In one of the episodes, she hersetlf had said (when Jo had saved Moti), that for her nothing is more important than "harem", even now when she said that she wants to spend time with Jalal, it is to make sure that she gets the attention and importance from Jalal again and to make Jodha loose it while handling Harem responsibilities.
She is a very shallow person and she only believes or gets carried away with people. And if not MA, any other person can do her brain wash, and everytime Jalal will not be there understanding the issues and try to help Ruq to come out of it or to make her feel secured.
Jalal can explain her and make her understand for a "short period" only, as she is not a person who learns from her mistakes or thinks deeper. In this case it is not possible for her to find her "heart" or think by "heart", like Salima put in one episode to her, declaring that Jalal has no heart, she has lost her heart, but I feel she has not just lost her heart, but lost her brains as well.
She is a very weak person by mind and heart and a person who cannot think by herself what is wrong or right, can easily be misguided and she can keep doing the same mistakes again and again.
