AWSOME POST from Ruqaiya's point of view.

When the show first started Ruqaiya was noble, fair, smart, ambitious, confident, and clever. Her relationship with Jalal was so precious. There are so many memorable scenes between her and Jalal. First one was in Episode 13 when Jalal enters the palace and Ruqaiya is on the terrace and theirs eyes meet. Not once did their eyes break eye contact and their smirks. 😊 The second scene is when Jalal asks her which of these three (friend, husband, and emperor) relationship do you want to be. She replied I want to be the girl for whom a friend loses his dil, a husband, his iman and a emperor, will bow his head in front of. The third scene was when she was trying to make him feel better after the whole Fareeda's pregnancy affair. She forgot about her own tears and thought about him. She never rubbed salt in his wounds. She was truly the first lady of the Mughal empire and she carried herself with so much dignity. I fell in love with the character.
Even after so much negetivity i have soft corner for Ruqaiya bcos she was a gem earlier.
if we consider some recent instances she did not care abt Jodha but just her relation with Jalal when she was all excited to play chess or going with him for the boat ride only to get dissapointed later.
She cud have stopped the boat ride right there atleast thts wht i felt she wud do but no she did not interfere and showed her dignity and complained only later tottaly frustated and hurt and Jalal ignored her and did not even care to pacify her, that was so rude.
Her insecurities are somewhere quite justified and its very much beacause of Jalal and not Jodha..
When Benazir took Ruqaiya and Jodha was ill, Jalal did not even care to go after Benazir to save Ruq. considering what their relation was that was quite a blow for me from Jalal's side bcos Jodha was all being taken care by harem doctors and other ppl.
At tht time evn under benazir Ruqs words were-"Tum Jalal ko maarna chahti thi, hum tumhe chodenge nai" but Jalal cared least for her and let her go in front of her for Jodha.

Well i so want the positive Ruqaiya back and awsome friendship with Jalal and deffo she deserves second chance bcos its even Jalal's fault as he never made an effort to make her understand and MahaManga provoked Ruqaiya.

Now the scenario is that ppl have started loving to hate Ruqaiya and are definitely biased for Jodha and see her as Kabeb me haddi but if one watches the initial episodes there is no way one can not love Jalal- Ruqaiya's superb friendship and chemistry.

Mandy, unfortunately even this attempt by Ruqs is not a real one. She is more interested in the results this act - of spending time with TE - would gain instead of the act it self. And that is something she has not been able to hide from TE either - the man has very smartly gauged the reason for her acts.

Ya toh jo kaam kar rahe ho poori imaandaari se karo, ya phir aise karo ki kisi ko pata na chale ki isme tumhaari koi selfish motive chupi hai!!! - Ruqs failed on both counts - and hence I refuse to be empathic or sympathic towards her.

of course but only if she changes and stops insulting people and plotting behind back...see its not only Ruqu but other wives r also jhelofying each other and that was norm of those days..polygamy was normal then...so women moulded in that way..Ruqu is not only humiliating the other women but also others.
Dont u think Jalal gave her many chances to change ? he didnt question her in DEK after the murti fiasco, and even after many of Ruqu's mistakes..either he ignored or he spoke to her personally..did Ruqu learn ? no she is the same...as I said, she definitely deserves a second chance only when she changes from within.😊

and dont forget Ruqu pushed Benazir to Jalal to keep Jodha away from him! no wife can do it if she is jealous of other women in her husband's life...but Ruqu is insecure of her audha which Benazir can never snatch, but Jodha can.

Mandy, a very good post!! 👍🏼 and of course she should be given a second chance.
It is difficult for any woman to accept her husband's other wife/wives but as long as the 16th century is considered not only a queen but many ordinary women had to accept this! In an era where polygamy was accepted and practiced women were very much used to it compared to us, the women of 21st century. Though they must have felt jealous and insecure but these feelings and situation cannot be compared to the feelings of a woman of our society. They must be very much tolerant and these dosage were given to them since childhood. Remember what Bharmal said to Jodha on her Muh Dikhayi ? That it is common and normal that the man you would marry will have other wives besides you, it doesn't matter if he is Rajvanshi or Mughal. We generally do not see polygamy practiced in our family/society and hence if we cannot tolerate such thing if we come across to it ever.
Your are right! she must have been in a dilemma whether to treat him as friend or her husband. But I've seen many friends who get marry over the course of time and things does change between them but for their own good. There is a fine line between friendship and companionship, the latter is the pillar of any marriage and which seems to have absent in case of Ruq-Jalal relation. Companionship doesn't always means romance but a feeling of togetherness and being there for your partner no matter what. I'm there for you and you are there for me was what their marriage lacked and ultimately their friendship never turned into companionship. In such cases you really cannot blame one person.
Its true that Jalal had never those romantic feelings for Ruqu, sometimes we take our best friend or partner too much for granted that we forget to know what they really want from this relationship, from us. With increase in number of women in harem, Ruqu made herself a so strong that none could match her place in Jalal's life. She was so much confident back then because like Jalal she too was under the impression that he does not have a heart and he cannot really love any woman. Now by the time Jodha entered their lives and Jalal discovered his heart, Ruqu had her own place in Jalal's life, his heart. Jodha/Salima did not take over her but created their own place and at the same time Ruqu started losing her control and importance as the sole khas begum of Jalal. Now she should focus on him and her place in his heart rather than trying to sideline his other wives. She could not stop Jalal from marrying other women and she cannot stop him from falling in love then why waste your time in throwing Jodha out of harem instead of making it sure that her friendship is as invaluable to him as his love for Jodha is ?

very well written👍🏼..and very rightly said if she wants to maintain her friendship she should not waste her time and energy in planning and plotting against jodha because that will distant her more from jalal as jalal has a special place in his heart for jodha!

Mandy Interesting points from all and from Adi as well.

So in conclusion, Ruqaiya was just not up to the mark as a woman of her times, let alone royal lady, who could understand and accept harem realities? Jodha, the newcomer, is very willing to know her place and not come between RuqLal? Jo is a sixteenth century queen and Ruqs is a sulking 21st century wife?/friend?

and apart from which century and what royal protocol of the times demanded, Ruqs is being portrayed in the show as a bad friend to Jalal and someone with such poor judgement, she sits with MA and chooses to swallow all that poison.

All I can see is that the show is mixed up. They intersperse modern sensibilities with Akbar's court and that is never going to work, except as a very confusing and badly executed fiction. We can't connect with characters when they swing 400 years back and forth. Jalal used to be so mysterious and unpredictable but now... 🤔 Jo used to be more 'modern' and an animal rights activist and feminist demanding pure love , but now...🤔 I think Ja and Jo have exchanged centuries and Jo is running a harem now. 😕

yes, our TE was smart enough to figure it out and maybe that is why he disliked her touch, but don't u think she maybe has feelings for jalal and also loves him besides the power? remember her teary eye in the initial episodes when jalal said that he has no heart!

..again very well said munni, don't worry our jalal is adorable! i love him😆..i agree that ruq should be more mature and smart to handle such a delicate situation tactfully..i don't know what lessons maham is giving her, she is failing as a teacher!

Mandy someone has just posted a statement made by Ruqs made in the initial epis to Jalal to his Q what she wanted to be friend / wife / empress to which it seems she replied - I want to be the girl for whom a friend loses his dil, a husband, his iman and a emperor, will bow his head in front of - This statement does not come from a woman in Love but from a woman who knows she has managed to garner the attention of an Emperor due to her intelligence and sexuality and is drunk with it. This statement, to my mind, totally proves my point!!! In my book a statement such as this does not show Love but then this is my opinion
