I am correcting you here...I don't know ur age but I guess u have not been to the Golden Triangle of India in the early 90's ...and hence are quite unaware of the popularity of the names of Akbar and his Hindu queen Jodha Bai /Heera Kumari/MUZ....as One of the MOST FAMOUS HISTORICAL INTER-RELIGION COUPLES ...😃

Infact, the names of his other senior queens were quite obscure...
But no issues...confusion and correction is very common in historical matters.😊

And just for another clarification, It was NOT the Love-story which got famous after Ashutosh Gowarikar's Film...but the CONTROVERSY about Jodha's importance
in his life which became famous... Hope I have made the difference clear here...😊

Regards,
Kamal

PS. This is 1st hand experience and not read, seen or heard from books or films...

kamal. thanks for sharing the info...these threads are made to clear some misunderstandings and also to gain knowledge from historians like u😊

Even Jalal got married at a young n tender age and lets not forget that he did not just come up with the "I don't have a heart" thing on his own, it was drilled into him by Bairam Khan and Maham Anga, as seen in the show. So both Jalal and Ruqs had their own sets of issues.
So when u ask me a question should Jalal give Ruqs a second chance and accept Ruqs love coz she is his first wife and friend? I would say NO. If only it was as easy as waking up one day and deciding no i can't love this person I am supposed to love that person... or i could love both can't I??? Just being a first wife and friend does not entitle her to his love. And its not like Jallu has fallen in love with someone else's wife and its an affair, bakaayda apni biwi se pyaar karta hai yaar whatever number she might be.
So no I do not sympathize with Ruqs, can't bring myself to either
Does Ruqs deserve a second chance?? That depends on if she is asking for a second chance, are her motives pure when she goes to Jalal wanting to spend time with him, are her actions pure??

Very good post Mandy. Thought provoking. It is always refreshing to see things from a different perspective. I'll share my views here...I am commenting on reel not real Rukkiya.

1. Is her jealousy justified? Yes... Can her recent actions be justified? ...I don't think so. A lot of us give her credit for accepting the presence of other women in Jalal's life. Is she being magnanimous ? Or should we feel sorry for her because the love of her life has other women in his life? To help us answer these questions, it important to first understand polygamous relationships and how real women cope with it. I'll use the example of some polygamous sects in the US...yes, I am talking about the United states of America. Just because, I have had an opportunity to study and interact with a few. Sects like the members of the fundamentalist church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ( FLDS) practice 'pleural marriage' . After reading about them and watching news/documentaries, I was curious to know how can these 21st century women be comfortable living this kind of lifestyle when they clearly have options and support of their govt and people. I personally know a couple of these women who were part of such relationships but later moved out ( for different reasons). According to them most( not all) women are very comfortable with this lifestyle and don't want any help to get out of the situation. In fact a polygamous family filed a lawsuit questioning the anti polygamy law in the US last year and a judge in state of Utah ( has the max number of poly families) struck down an important part of the law as unconstitutional!!! These families are now rejoicing( including women!!!!!)
What can explain their acceptance of this type family structure? My theory after talking to them...since this is what they see while growing up they view it as ' normal'. They explain, ' Do you have a problem with your parents choosing to have other kids besides you? Are you jealous that they are also very important to your parents? Honestly, I couldn't see the similarity...but they did.
Same is true for 16 th century women. They accepted polygamy as 'normal'. Rukkiya accepting Jalal's other wives is not an act of magnanimity...neither should it be used as an excuse to explain her recent mean and vengeful behavior. If she absolutely didn't want to share her husband physically or emotionally, she had a choice...divorce him...some may argue...divorce in 16th century wasn't acceptable...well, neither was expecting husbands to be monogamous...tough luck Rukkiya.

2. She has already been given a second chance. BB and Rukkiya committed a somewhat similar crime... They conspired to degrade Jodha in front of everyone for their selfish reasons. One used a medicine to mimic pregnancy to dishonor her, other used religion and Mughal law to do the same. Infact, in Rukkiya's case, she was the mastermind as well. Had Jalal not trusted Jodha in both the cases, she would have been punished severely per Mughal Laws. When exposed, while BB was punished, Rukkiya got away with a harsh warning by Jalal in the privacy of their Hojra. Jalal had evidence against Rukkiya...and finally she did confess. Yet, he didnt punish her...infact he protected her and did not reveal the facts and evidence to anyone else. So she did get a second chance.

However, he was upset that she lied to him and warned her not to plot or scheme again...did she really listen to him? ...in retrospect , it is clearly a very cunning and unfair move on her part to ask Jalal to vote first. He voted for her(his reasons- another post) knowing that he is giving her back her position and Audha which will make her more ferocious towards everyone who voted against her. He also knew that she did not deserve it after the idol incident. She had an agenda and chose to let Jodha win the election. Therefore, this was her third chance. He finally saw through it and was clearly upset but civil with her. She continues to lie to him and wants credit for her devious act as ' barrapan'

So the question is should she get a forth chance?

very well written cleo! thanks for sharing the info regarding polygamy in US, i too have heard of the group and there is another group, i always forget their name, amaties?? cannot remember, that group lives their life like olden times..organic agriculture is their main industry..they do not use any modern equipment..and also practice polygamy..they wear home made clothes and the females work in the house whereas men work in the fields..when i heard of such a group i was so fascinated that i wanted to join them😆...i loved the fact that they are so close to nature!

regarding our dear ruq i guess there is no way out other than mending her ways if she really wants to make her space in jalal's heart..jalal who was her partner in crime has moved on whereas she is still there with her chess style politics where its all about the rt chaal...!

What was wrong in resigning a post that she thought was keeping her away from Jalal? What is devious about that?

sandhya, her ways of dealing with now changed jalal are not working for her..he is not the same guy who was her partner in crime..if she is smart she will realize what she is doing..as of now she is in a denial phase..she needs to deal with this changed jalal in a way that will make him feel that her feelings for him are genuine and not because of putting someone else down! and that is what is irking jalal at the moment!

It's impossible for anyone to not know Akbar-Jodha stories if one visits Agra and FS...be it now or earlier...😊

kamal, i recently visited akbar's tomb and agra fort but didn't know that there were other historical buildings in FS other than salim chishti dargah..otherwise i would have visited for sure..i hope i get to visit india soon😊

ruukku know she is person have soft corner to her personal things only
the best in the world attitude with arrogance is main problem to her
in greed for power and position she is playing this game
giving chance its ok but question will the chance will sustain

short and to the point..very well written! yes, its a big question if chance will sustain..! usually people do not change that fast their basic nature surfaces especially during crisis..people who pretend to change or are trying to change get caught in such circumstances..lets take akbar..he was basically a nice person but his administrative policies were shadowed initially by bairam khan and then MA..but they surfaced in later years of life because that is what gave him satisfaction..he wanted to see a flourishing sultanat and he wanted to become the people's king and not king for himself...now that jalal is evolving, be it jo's influence or be it less dominance of MA..but ruq is used to old jalal..the one who did not have a heart..and that is where she is lagging behind..she fails to understand this new jalal and wants to bring him back which i think is too late now...the only solution being she might have to mend her ways if she really wants him in her life!...this is the conclusion i have drawn after analyzing the characters and reading such wonderful comments by beautiful people of our forum who took their time to write all this!

MANDY meri yaar🤗 ..
just commenting on your req ...nahi tau I m almost done with show n forum.
...
100 bat ki 1 baat ...this is polygamy n if jalal Is changing for good and on the path of become great than it should be on all fronts...
here I always considered pro ruqu... actually I m pro woman
...
ruqayya, salima, or any other wife who want jalal n his time for herself I m with her...there is no need to earn this right by doing Mahan things...nikah k 2 bol give this right to them...n if jalal is becoming great n changing for good it is his duty to spare time for them ...it is main clause of multi marriage permission in islam whether u like it or not u have to do justice. specially with those wifes which demand your time n their wifely rights.
all concept of polybamy is wrong here...salima jalal showed not in relation...there is no naam ki shadi type thing in islam ...
what if in future ekta will decide to change the track n salima also starting feeling for her rightful husband... then will there be need to change her to bad ...NO... I personally experience some polygamous families..with good relation and justice.
main peoblem CVs are playing with ruqayya sultan's character for their own continence n need...
...she tod jalal so many time hamay nahi farak parta aap ray jodha begum k saath guzarain ya kisi aur k saath...par jau waqt hamara hae who ham ksisi ko ham sae cheenne nahi denge... this is the cryuel reality of polygamy... till date ruqayya never come in btw akdha time...
...jodha came unintentionally so many time ...
...
I have no wish for ruqlal scenes...I know this this is jodha Akbar story and I will not nor I do tolerate on the expence of ryqayya's character...they want to show akdha love... do it like they did when akdha went to ajmer sharif first time but not by crushing other woman sentiments...
I don't know how many times they changed n will change the CVs n SWs...bec they themselves don't know from where the characterization of various character started and where it is heading.
i told to zee operator that your voice over told us that ruqayya is his dukh such ki sathi ...she can know his dil ka haal from his face... ..who dikhne mae koi khaas nahi thi par uki siayasi samjh khaas thi...
now where all this gone... and their idiotic answer tht still ruqayya is important for him n he cares for her n still she brainy smart n political smart
what we can expect from these type of CVs ...they may change the akdha voice over or even soul talk for their own convenience ..who knows..???

sara dear🤗...very valid points..two points ne to mera dil hi jeet liya...

-ruqayya, salima, or any other wife who want jalal n his time for herself I m with her...there is no need to earn this right by doing Mahan things...nikah k 2 bol give this right to them..

-I know this this is jodha Akbar story and I will not nor I do tolerate on the expence of ryqayya's character

..very well said sara..i agree that she has the full right..she does not need to prove herself mahaan and secondly akhda love story should not progress by demeaning her character! i do not know how real ruq was but for sure things are exaggerated here as there is no one to fight on her behalf and they have the rt to show her black!

@ Mandy,

Even if she has positives, her vices cloud all of them. She continues to hate and plot. She continues to keep ranting of her audha, her dosti with Jalal, her importance..blah..blah. Till yesterday, did Jalal even say a thing to her? No. Her wishes always granted, her demands always met, all her tantrums were ignored, her meanness towards others was sidelined. There has to be a breaking point and for Jalal that happened when Ruq tried to defame Jo using chela tactics and that too involving sensitive religious issues. None of her qualities dignify her as a queen. No matter what the insecurity and inner turmoil, the wives of the ruler of India ought to have some dignity. It was more of her forcing her audha into everyone's face rather than bringing it out through her actions. Why should Jalal even love someone as mean as Ruqayya? I think we love being around people who spread positivity and energy all around, not around those who always rant, throw tantrums. These kind of people just drain the energy out of you. Was Ruqu even purely happy for a single day at all?No. She'd somehow demean others, plot or exemplify herself. When Jo newly arrived in Agra, her position was much worse than Ruq. She had to conquer people's hearts biased towards religion, she had a husband who openly hated her, she didn't have her close family, she experienced a cultural shock. Yet she tried to be happy, she smiled infront of HB, Salima to almost everybody else she met. If Ruqu had tries that for even just a day in her life, she would have been much better today. That is why Jo has become respectable today and that is why Ruq has fallen in my eyes.

I only pity Ruq that hers is a world full of suffocation... Suffocation because she chooses to be mean, ungrateful and arrogant every second she breathes. I don't think Jalal is wrong. Jalal has always listened to her. Polygamy was a norm in those days and you can't feel what they felt, nor can you step into their shoes. I can't imagine myself in her place as I can't remain mean for long and I look for positivity so Ruqs attitude is definitely not what I am comfortable with.

I would however love to see her redeemed. I would love to see her feel the brightness of sunshine instead of sulking in the dark. I would love her to spread warmth with pure intentions. This is not something Jalal can bring about. Sitting and talking about his feelings would only rile her up. Only she can bring about change in herself with the help of her god. She needs support and encouragement from her near and dear ones but that can only happen if she's showing an inclination to reform, will power to change her life. This is something she lacks and I don't blame Jalal or HB or someone else for that matter. She has ample sense to see the right path. (Afterall she managed the Harem and did Jalal ke diamaag per hukumat!!)

That's my two cents.

loved your two cents dear😊..very well written especially the one in bold..i would also see her redeem herself and feel the brightness of sunshine within herself!
