JALAL-JODHA
Jalal visiting his brother's bedroom, perceiving that the youngster must have shed a tear or two on witnessing his soggy pillow, brushing his hair, removing his shoes for him, ordering for a blanket for him - was possibly one of the best directed scenes (albeit a bit filmy one) and the most touching scene in a long long time!👏
Now, who else to bring the blanket for her devar other than Jodha herself!
On coming to face with his Begum, he accepts the blanket from her, wraps his brother within it and walks away - ignoring the queen who was yearning to have a word with him. He's obviously able to understand her innocence in the matter, but his current state-of-mind is in anguish - and he doesn't want to FACE this 'awkward' moment with her!
He makes his way outside the chamber, continuing to ignore her - while she follows him, calling out to him! When he does halt his pace, she opens her heart out to him -
The queen tells him that she hadn't come to apologize or to thank him - she'd come because she wanted to hear his taunts! (How cute was this😳!)
'Why don't you say something..why are you so quiet...why aren't you ridiculing me..teasing me..taunting me..this silence of yours is torturing me' she asks - with childlike expressions and tear-filled eyes 'My sister hurt your brother...I want you to punish me for that...but please don't stay so quite, because its eating me from within!'
Jalal finally turns around grimly 'You're right...this silence is tormenting isn't it? My brother was silent too.. when he was waiting at the wedding hall...when he'd come to know of Shivani's treachery..and even now, he's silent...I've gauged his pain from the amount of tears he's shed in his sleep'
He takes his Begum's hand in his 'If I had to punish you, I don't need your permission for that' he pauses 'However, I believe in punishing the ACTUAL culprits...your sister and his lover...' he grits his teeth 'Do you really think they'd be able to escape from me? The Sultanat is big, but my forces can reach out to them anywhere...they'll run out of places to hide...they've humiliated the Mughal Sultanat and my brother...I WILL punish them for it! My soldiers have already set out to catch them..they'll be here any time soon'
'But Shehenshah!' she nearly pleads
He puts his finger up to stop her there - and then Hakim's words echo in his mind - the words about 'True love' and how its impossible to bring pain upon one you truly love!
Unable to meet eyes with her that second, he swiftly finishes off the conversation saying that he wanted to hear or say no more - leaving behind a grief-stricken Jodha to herself!
My Take - This was a BEAUTIFUL akdha scene - a scene that spoke so much. In this scene, Jalal taking his wife's hand in his was done more out of authority than to just fill up Akdha scene space. This scene was part of the script/track and story - it wasn't there just because!
Despite the fact that RT's voice wasn't co-operating with him, Jalal and Jodha spoke volumes through their eyes - the pain, the anguish, the deceit - it was all conveyed in that 1 scene. Thankfully, the editing/direction/dialogues were spot on too!
SHAREEFUDDIN
Him mentioning 'Benazir' to himself and laughing is a big blooper - because the moment he'd heard the name Benazir some days ago, he'd already realized that she was Abul Maali's spy. Nevertheless, he possibly had the Ghajini effect in jail, so we'll just have to overlook that!
So, the daastaan of the paigaam is back, eh? Hopefully, Jodha doesn't get into any trouble because of this prison-letter-exchange fiasco that just never seems to end!
BENAZIR
Her huffing puffing panting hissing - the green tinted lips - God - we'd nearly forgotten all about it for the past 2 days! However, I can understand this necessary evil needs to be done and dusted with! SO please be done with it, already🥱!
MA-RUQAIYYA
The fact that we'd heard enough of MA in the recent past could make many cringe at this Ruqaiyya-uksaao scene. However, when reflecting on the points MA presented today, it would indeed make for a good debate.
Nevertheless (by this point I was quite sure the serial was running at the speed of knots, as usual) this scene ended with what seems like glimpses of the next MU track - the Shivratri festival!
Jodha to Hindu baandhis - Yes yes Shivratri
Ruqaiyya to Hindu baandhis - NO NO to Shivratri - especially because Jodha Begum had said yes yes!
MA to Hindu baandhis - No Hindu festivals, we're busy preparing for Jodha's Ameri pack up now!
JODHA-SHAREEFUDDIN & JODHA-MOTHI
The pretty-as-a-peach Jodha speaking to Shareefuddin - peeking through her shawl - trying to hide her fear was a visual treat, no doubt - though highly impractical and utterly dangerous!
Nevertheless, within two minutes Jodha learns of Benazir's vile ploys and rushes away from there - not having an opportunity to hear the maniacal Shareefuddin screaming to himself about his own vile ploys, of course!
Thankfully, in the scene following - Mothi did voice her (and our) concerns to her friend!
Jodha's and Mothi's ensuing conversation seemed like a quick recap of all of Abul Maali's plans that we might have either missed, forgotten about or plans that never had been telecast in the first place!😆
REBELLION
Yayyy! Scenes of Rebellion and scenes of war!!!🥳
Hearing Jalal command his soldiers to crush anyone who chose to rebeal against the Mughal Sultanat - was a reflection of what he was feeling due to the betrayal by Shivani and Tej!
Nevertheless, I loved that scene (though, I realize I shouldn't rejoice too early since war scenes in Jodha Akbar last for 2 seconds while MA plottings last for 20 whole episodes!)
Jalal choosing Hakim Mirza to confront this rebellion actually was the second part of the episode I really really liked! 👏
1) I'm loving the Jalal-Hakim relationship and with every greater responsibility-trust being placed on Hakim, I feel further and further pained that this brotherly bonding is going to break sometime soon!
2) This lets us see glimpses of the 'warrior' side of this young man who is going to turn against Jalal in the future! (Would we get some action scenes too😳?)
3) Sets the ball rolling for Adham-MA's next ventures - which is going to be about creating misunderstandings between Jalal and MH, no doubt. Thankfully, the vicious duo might forget about tearing apart the Jalal-Jodha relationship in the brief interim!
4) Jodha's look of pride when she sees Jalal talk of Hakim - and even more pride when Jalal speaks of Maan Singh was beautiful!
5) It confirms Maan Singh is not just a handsome doll but a living breathing alive young man!
6) Jodha's farewell speech to her nephew - and how she spoke positively about Rajvanshi pride (after the escapade that had just transpired a day ago) was again nice to witness.
JALAL-HB
It was again another touching scene today (The CVs have given us so many meaningful scenes today, albeit at the speed of an express train! Sometimes we wonder if these were the same ones who gave us the Benazir kaand last week too😕!)
Jalal not blaming anyone else for Hakim's 'state-of-mind' was a praiseworthy moment. Also, when I got to know that one of the reasons he was sending Hakim on this war was so he'd get distracted from the grief he was facing, I was genuinely touched.
It only goes to show how the two brothers think differently on the same issue - though they don't really 'feel' so differently from one another!
PRECAP
How many eager for Monday to learn of what Jalal's answer is going to be!😛
The cinematography in the precap is again beautiful!
MY TAKE -
My enthusiasm says it all!
I'm not available to log on or reply to posts here since I have an appt...but, I'll try and come back to this tomorrow 😊
