Chapter 38-unexpected happenings

'Jiji'called Sukanya from behind.
Jodha was brought out of her perfect moment by Sukanya's voice.she shifted her eyes from jalals face,wiped off her tear and turned around.
She entered inside her room and looked at Sukanya.
'Jiji what were you doing outside?'she asked curiously.
'I just wanted to take in some fresh air' she said and proceeded towards the mirror.
'Jiji you must be scared.its such a big moment in your life.'she said feeling the stress of a bride.
"My daughter can never be scared"rani Mainavati said in a confident tone.
She moved inside the room and advanced towards jodha.she made jodha turn towards her and said"my daughter is the bravest of all.how can ,then,her wedding scare her.right".
She smiled at jodha ,picked up the anklet from the table and made her sit in front of her.
"This was the only thing missing"she said and made jodha wear the anklet.
"Maasa ,now will you spend the entire night over here or take jiji to the main hall.its time for the mehndi"she screamed enthusiastically
"You are right.its time to go"rani mainavati said and headed towards the hall with Sukanya and jodha

Suryabhan was sitting with his father in the courtyard.they both were sitting on a Diwan and enjoying a nice drink.
"The mehndi ceremony has started it seems" haritosh said to his son
"Yes it seem so"he said disappointedly
"So"raja haritosh said
"So what"suryabhan asked his dad
"What are you doing here?"he said in a pushing tone
"Men are not allowed inside"Suryabhan replied
"Ordinary men are not allowed inside but rajvanshi men always find a way to get in.you can't break the tradition"he said cheerfully
Suryabhan got up from the Diwan excitedly and said "I must go"

Jodha was sitting in one corner of the room,surrounded by her sisters,who were putting mehndi on her hands.
A group of dancers were dancing on a folk song,and others kept on staring at jodha's mesmeric beauty.
All of this had no effect on jodha.she did not pay attention to anything.she was still lost in jalals thought.she remembered the way he looked when she saw him from her balcony.HURT is all that came to her mind.
Is it my fault?is he suffering because of me?why did he not ask for my hand before?

The man hired by shareeffudin got to his work.he saw Suryabhan entering his room.
"He is alone"he said to himself and looked around to ensure nobody was there.the satisfaction of a hunter seeing its prey alone, swiped his face and he moved towards the room.
Suryabhan entered the room and walked towards the far-end.his back was turned towards the door and therefore he did not see the man coming.
The man entered inside quietly and without making any noise took a small knife out of his dress.he walked towards Suryabhan and covered his face with his hand.
Suryabhan was taken off-guard and before he could do anything,the knife went through his stomach,killing him instantly.
The man ran out of the room,but,in the process dropped off a candle kept at the entrance.

Jalal reached raja Bharmal's chamber and entered inside.he was welcomed by raja Bharmal who was sitting on a Diwan,awaiting jalal
"Pranam shehanshah.come sit with me .i was told that you wanted to meet me.?"
"Raja Bharmal I want to talk to you about something."

The function was taking place in full swing and jodha was almost done with the mehndi
Rani mainavati called shivani and asked her"where are the bangles that I asked you to keep for jodha?"
"I am sorry maasa.i forgot them in jijis room."
"Oh shivani.i asked you to keep them with you"
"Sorry maasa.i got so busy with getting jiji ready.i will go and get them."
"No.you stay here.i will get them"
She said so and moved out of the hall towards jodha's room

"Shehanshah is everything alright?i hope that you are comfortable here"
"No it is something else that I wish to talk about."he said hesitantly
"What is the matter shehanshah"

Rani mainavati was returning to the hall,with the box of bangles in her hand when she saw the candle on the floor.
She found it very strange and walked towards Suryabhan's room.
She bent down to pick the candle up when she saw a puddle of blood on the floor.
"Raja Bharmal I wanted to tell you...
"JODHA"she screamed.her voice resounded in the entire palace,catching everyone's attention.
The function came to a halt,the conversation came to a halt and everyone rushed to the spot from where the sound came.
