My sweet, the old Jalal is gone for good. This is what an infatuation does even to a strong man or a learned man (remember the professor in The Blue Angel, besotted with the cabaret dancer played by Marlene Dietrich, though he at least had some excuse seeing whom he flipped for!šŸ˜‰). The roar and the shove at the jashn was like a child crying out to its mother I hate you, I hate you! The minute he spots Jodha, the craving for her to be nice to him kicks in. There is no salvation for him at all.

@blue : Aunty, just read about The Blue Angel. How depressing! and what a fall!
Thank God Jalal is above the likes of Professor Immanuel Rath!
I was a gladdened to see him in action today, after a long time, and angry and suspicious and not all yearning for Jodha. But I have been warned that it shouldn't surprise if he again becomes puppy dog tomorrow following criticisms of his tana-s. (There are those who are feeling that Jodha has been 'humiliated' enough already! Except at DEK, I didn't see him humiliating Jo at all. He has stopped placing her on a pedestal that he did ever since return from Amer! That is all!)
I am just having my fingers crossed that Jalal be restored to pre-Tasneem mode.
And the wedding is going to be publicly announced. So the repurcussions of Shivaani's eloping or even withdrawing now is going to be BIG.
During Sukanya's wedding Shariffu was actually responsible for the problems. So it was okay for Jalal to sacrifice his fort. (But even that he did in stylešŸ‘šŸ¼) But this time Shivaani is to blame. I don't want Jalal to play saviour angel again. Even if he does, he will be accused of some laalsa or the other. He should not work in favour of the dakka-ers who consider it beneath them to even apologise for the dhakka.😔 So he SHOULD wash his hands off and let Jo and the Ameris face the music.
Btw, MA has played her cards very well today. Even if Shivaani does confess, what blame can be put on MA? She has only asked Shivaani to forget Tej and go along with the wedding. If questioned she will easily declare that she did it in the good interests of both the countries to save everyone from embarrassment. But only she knows that the way she said those words, the effect on Shivaani will be different. But who can prove that? MA will commit any wrong, but in a way that it can never be proved even if caught. Got to admire her cunning.

I have seen it, Komal. I agree with what you have said there.

Truth to tell, I loved your first OS about the shack in the rain; it was like a light, airy souffle. I liked this one, but heavy emotions are not my cup of tea. I always prefer Jane Austen to Anna Karenina. But you do write well, really well, and I do not say this of many here.

My dear, your array of medical/psychiatric terms is imposing! And I am glad you had so much fun with this post.

No, Ruqaiya and Salima are Mirza's (and Jalal's) first cousins, not his sisters. Ruqaiya on the paternal side and Salima on the maternal side, in the way both of them traced their ancestry back to Babur.

@bold, Aunty, what are you talking about? I never wrote anything about a hut in the rain?...The only other OS of mine, you commented on was about the letter one. šŸ˜•

Yup...Yup I'm one of the guilty 'gushing' parties here...and guilty of describing Tej as a handsome dude too...šŸ˜† I can totally sense the disappointment in your post...

Its ok aunty... I never expected too much logic from this serial to begin with...on the contrary, Ruqaiyya's grey shades - her pregnancy - a few harsh Harem truths etc - basically, tracks that showed they were bringing aspects from History took me by surprise. [I didn't expect the creatives would try to take leaves from the Akbarnama - I thought they'd rather just stick to Ashutosh's fairy-tale version! ]

However, all of that 'pleasant surprise' was neutralized within no time...

So, I went back to the not-expecting-logic phase - especially after the boat ride episode, the body heat fiasco(I think members would remember the extent to which I protested then) the fake pregnancy track (I was absolutely furious by this point) and the last straw was Tasneem track...

Now I'm done...well mostly...I might protest again if they decided to let Jalal don a jeans and a pair of cooling glasses maybe...but, beyond that I'm tired now...šŸ˜†Come to think of it, Jodha's already donned a nightgown with that long 60s style eye make-up and pouf on top, right? *sigh* Nevertheless...back to what I was talking about -

Oh yes, I'm just here for the other bits that brought me here...Rajat, Paridhi and their romance!

This serial has moved past the 6 month mark and its peak has passed...we might get an exceptional track here and there, but I can imagine it'd be quite a herculean effort and requiring the likes of someone like Vishal Bharadwaj to undo the pits that have been caused - thanks to the aforementioned 4-5 tracks one after another!

It's just that I'd been so tired of bashing the leads and criticizing every angle that for sometime I needed a break ...I wanted to look beyond it all and revel in the couple of pleasant scenes we'd been blessed with off late...
I can shamelessly admit I'm here henceforth primarily for the leads' chemistry and romance...I don't expect much 16th century Mughal ethics and protocols any more...šŸ˜†

Oh yes, I think I've lied a little - I have been doing some bashing - of the character that Meghna Naidu is trying to portrayšŸ˜†

A pleasure to read your thoughts Shyamalaji!

The forum was in seventh heaven this week after the Jodha-Jalal scenes and it was enough to appease them for the time being. But again, these were hackneyed scenes and I found little to no pleasure in them. I won't go into the illogical aspects of the behaviors of our favorite pair since I no longer have the patience for that. It seems that lowering expectations is the only way to continue to enjoy these episodes.

And what, pray, was the connection between Jodha's non-sweekruti for her marriage because of (the now resurrected) ghrina for Jalal, and the adoption of Hindu rites for that marriage? None that I could see, but then logic was never Jodha's strong point. But if Jalal himself is afflicted by a strange fit of amnesia and now seems to believe that the choice of the rites was Jodha's or Bharmal's, what can one do but clutch one's head in despair!šŸ˜‰

Yes, yes, yes! Have they forgotten every detail about their marriage? It is especially surprising for Jalal since supposedly his hands were trembling that day and according to him, they only tremble during important events of his life! If so, it only makes sense that he should remember every thing having to do with his marriage with Jodha!

Komal dear, I am really getting on in age, it seems! No, the shack in the rain OS, which was very charming and light, was not yours of course. Yours, which I liked enormously and told you so, was the one called The Epiphany. I still have it somewhere on my hard drive.

The thing is, my dear, I am asked to comment on a lot of writing, both here and even in my old forums, 2 of them, where I used to write for much shorter periods of time, just 5 weeks in one case. But somehow I acquire young friends there who still want my views on their FFs, SSes and OSes. As of now I have at least 4 chapters in different FFs pending for my comments, and that is not in this forum. I do try and respond as much as I can, for I am very fond of the writers, but can you wonder at my getting occasionally mixed up between two of them? Especially with curious IDs that are changed periodically?

Never mind, it is enough that I liked both of yours that I read. And what I wrote below applies perfectly to The Epiphany and this one. If only the CVs had taken your script, there would never have been The Shove, and we would be in far better shape now. But of course that would be too much to expect.
