Jodha Akbar 147: Discordant expectations - Page 3

My dear Abhi,

I would not blame Jodha too much for not consulting Shivani; in those days, it was simply not done. A daughter was never asked for her consent to her marriage. Why, Meerabai's cousin was asked by her father to commit suicide by swallowing the diamond in her ring when 2 baraats arrived simultaneously for her at their door because of a misunderstanding between her father and her brother, who had both bee n out looking for a groom for her, and a battle threatened. She did as she was told.

The things here that irk me beyond a limit are

1) why did Jodha not get Jalal's consent for the marriage proposal before approaching her father, which is unbelievable. Even today, any such proceeding by a wife would lead to a major blow up.

2) Why does Jalal not insist on talking to Shivani. He does not need Jodha's consent for that. But then he has become a straw man, who does not even react to the way in which his wife has sidelined him completely in this matter.

I have been reading a worker-friendly thread about the fit and handsome kaarigar, and advising Mirza to shape up to beat the competition. I did not know whether to laugh or not, it was so comical. He looked to me exactly what he was, the kaarigar, and if Bharmal had caught wind of him, he would have had every bone in his body broken. It would have been seen as a mortal disgrace for the family to have a daughter fall for a lowly stone worker.

And Jodha, who detests Benazir not because she believes Jalal is having an affair with her but because she is a "mere daasi", would hardly accept a kaarigar as a brother in law. This was the 16th century and the family would have killed the boy and married the girl off elsewhere in a hurry, and then left her to her own devices.

When BEN will finish her task ? How many days he want ? As long as Meghana Naidu's contract lasts, I expect. It made me laugh, to read all the ecstatic comments over a ultra-obliging Zee chap. Now it is all coming apart, exactly as I had predicted it would.

Why Jalaal, Hakim, Jodha, none have shaaq on BEN ? Why can't they decode the BEN paigam ?Now this is a howler of the first order. When Hakim was told of the way to crack Rahim's puzzle, I thought he would jump at it and go the same route as the dak munshi, but no!

Shariff knows Abul mali in Agra but not Jalaal ? ?This is courtesy Atgah Khan's non-intelligence (not intelligent!) service.

How can a princess think to elope that too from her sister sasural that too when her marriage is fixed ?

Why allways maham gets reading the paigam secretly & now will know this?

CVS are making kichidi of JA serial, with never ending tracks... Just watching it for Rajat & Paridhi... Ekta and her shows never changes, nothing new in the story ...same old wine in new bottle...

Coming to EK and her team and the story telling of Jodha Akbar - seems the biggest lacunae is the story telling to me! I am ok with the convoluted plots - as I have always said Love is a many splendoured thing. And the most twisted journey ever - what puts me off is the cliched and lackadaisical story telling. If EK and her team has researched Akbar for 2 years before they came up with the show the least that can be shown is his efficient spy network and administration. A 21st century hero brought up as the spoilt brat of super rich parents may be easily fooled by conspiracy but a self made man in the 21st century and in the 16th century will ensure that his back is always covered and would have eyes (s in spies) all around. And lets not forget Akbar did not get his empire on a platter. In fact Akbar's early life was a pretty hard one. Spot on,. but Jalal now seems to have descended to Atgah's level of non-intelligence, in both personal and public affairs.

That apart what good story telling needs is good characterization - especially at least one pivotal character which was created in TE but along with this what is also needed is character consistency. They have been consistent with Jodha's character who is incapable of seeing beyond her own POV but they have messed with the character who had actually made their show different - that of TE.

I cannot complain since EK is running true to form - its just that I had actually allowed myself to be led on and hence have no one but myself to blame. Same here, except that I blame no one!Wonder how long I will last?!?

You know me better than I know myself, it seems😉, for I did not know that I was going to write this one, except that I was so exasperated with all the rejoicing over those 2 scenes and not a word about the Jalal-demolition programme. Well, I do not plan to stop watching Jodha Akbar, but I will be writing only off and on, for I cannot see what to write most of the time these days! I really admire those who soldier on with long daily posts.

As for Ekta's heroines, I understand that they are all the same. I know only Archana and Purvi in Pavitra Rishta, and we once made a priority list for the latter, and her loverboy Arjun came limping in at No. 15 or thereabouts.

Oh yes, your last item for Jodha would be nirdosh pashu pakshi.😉As for the missing husband, he is now once more heartless, and thus not part of humanity, presumably!

Seriously Ekta knows, how to make the fans quiet for sometime. All the fans need is just romance/ between leads. The moment some romance and nok jhok is shown, we all fall flat and have more expectations.

The CV's are not bothered about the "sense" it should make, infact this issue is with most of the serials and JA is no different, which was supposed to be "different".

About "Karigar", he looks like one choosahua aam. He has a cute face, but definitely not a charming personality to die for. He looks like a looser to me and I thought, just for his talent, a Princess fell in "Love"??

About Jodha- she is typical serial herione. Giving respect to husband and caring for his emotions will not be included in the "To Do" lists.

First comes her parents, then her inlaws, then siblings, then friends, then humanity and of course "Animals". Unfortunately, Husband goes missing here!!

I am so fascinated by your nodding cats, Pallavi, that I had a lot of trouble reading your comments.😉 But now I have managed to do so,and I agree with them in toto.

As for To Zee of not To Zee, I knew all those fond hopes would come to nothing, and they have!

And I really won't be surprise that if one fine day we get to see that hamida banu is sending a letter to Hakim's mother describing her rajwanshi sarvangunsampanna bahu's good deeds and good deeds and at below with P.S adding that rajwanshi bahus are all beyond all flaws and follies and never does any wrong and in the next second hakim's mother,being affected with hamida's blind jodha-praising virus after reading the contaminated letter, lands in agra with a more bigger pepsodent smile, and immediately agrees for the knot ..

And yes Jalal allows that's why Jodha insults him, what can we do?? we have asked to restore Jalal's character to cvs..and they have ignored it completely..The last scene was worst, as jodha's overconfidence on their rajwanshi parampara is gonna blow to a big scandal very soon, and neither she want to talk with shivani nor letting Jalal to talk, and moreover despite her parents presence, she decides about the rituals also.wow..and when she has no answer, she retorts back rudely and talks non sense and walks away.. that's going on and on and on..🤢🤢

Aunty, agree with what u ve said. Ever since TRPs started rising, decline in the story started & character inconsistencies abounded. I ve more or less resigned myself to henceforth see only this nonsense purportedly an epic historical love story till my patience wears down completely to bid final tata to the show. Till then I ve decided to keep my logic & thinking cap aside just like our Jalal seems to have done quite for sometime now in the show. 😛 .

Guess the poor chap & his family members really have started thinking that Rajvanshis r a far better breed than them Mughals due to Jodha s constant rant on it 😉 . That might explain why they all r agreeing to Shiv/ Hakim s alliance which Jo kindly deigned to accept saying she has no aapathi towards the rishtha as her devar sa is a far superior person than u know who 😕 .

Nothing more to pen except to say that it s sad to see such a great & promising show being butchered like this , especially when it had a coup of sorts with a lead like Rajat s excellent Jalal & Pari as Jodha
