Waise Shyamala, what would make my day is not Shivani eloping but Shivani going to her Jijasa for help and confessing all and when asked by her Jodha jiji why she did not come to her, telling the very same jiji in frnt of Jijasa that her jiji is incapable of seeing beyond her own nose and hence would never understand anything about 'Drishtikon' - Jodha seriously needs to be shown the mirror and who better than her own lil' sis!!!!

Thank you Komal!!! waise as I had indicated on Tripti's post also Akbar had learnt by heart the poetry of Hafiz and Rumi in his boyhood when he was in Kabul. Though he never used to study / read on his own, He used to have everything read out to him and yes he had a phenomenal memory from a very young age which meant that he remembered word for word all that was read out to him and this ability stayed with him all his life - Lucky man - How I wish I had the ability!!!!

Lashy darling, Aap ke liye to sau khoon maaf, to ye sab kya cheez hai!!
😆

I can see where you are coming from, my dear, and I sympathise wholeheartedly. The problem is that much as I would love to agree with you all the time, as I do with my favourite nieces, I am much older than you are, and I can no longer be satisfied with this kind of tired banter, always so stale and repetitive, just because I like the leads.
Oh yes... I totally understand.. on the contrary, I'd have to set out a search mission for the 'missing aunty' 😆 if you started agreeing with AND enjoying the show purely for its romance!

Just see that triangular scene last night- every line in it was standard issue,
Actually, yesterday's nok jhok scene received more criticism than praise... I didn't find a point in putting up a post for it, so I stayed put...

I do not think Jalal knows where he is headed any longer- there was real anger in his eyes at the end of the darbar scene, but then where was the need to praise Jodha's role as his wife so lavishly?
That's his hurt resurfacing every now and again..it all only seems tiringly repetitive because apart from loitering around the harem and match-making, the shehenshah is doing little else...(something which the zee personnel and I didn't see eye-to-eye with during our latest conversation)
But if that's how Akbar strengthened his empire i.e. by being an astute match-maker then he should have appointed Shaguni Bai in his court in place of Maan Singh!

I simply no longer get Jalal at all; he is drifting, pushed here and there and ending up moving in circles, like flotsam in an eddy.
I don't either...

And The Shove now seems to be public knowledge, as much as if they had put up a poster about it in the harem😉. How did Ruqaiya come to know about that, unless he told her every single detail the next morning (the conversation was in silent mode, you would remember) ? Anyway, what she says in the precap is absolutely justified, and I am waiting to see how Jalal responds to her.
I think at this point RT himself will have to wait to see how he's supposed to react at such scenes...

As I wrote in this post, the Shivani-Mirza marriage makes NO political sense at all for the Mughal empire. The only explanation possible is that Jalal is now in a masochistic state of mind, and cannot escape his unacknowledged enslavement to his wife of his.
On the one side, he is constantly scraping the skin off that psychological wound made by The Shove, instead of letting it dry out by total neglect of the woman who did that to him. On the other, he is letting her lead him by the nose like a compliant sheep. What is it with his yo yo attitude to Benazir?
Inconsistency is the only consistency here...when they've been so inconsistent with the basic crux of the serial - Jalal's characterization and his relationship with Jodha...then everything else hardly matters...

Rajat is superlative when they let him be - the way he rolls his head when Jodha is praising Mirza in his chambers was so fresh and so funny - but even he will not be able to keep this show afloat if this stasis and the deterioration in his character continues apace. There will come a point when even you will realise that.
Oh yes... I am a fan of him...but, I didn't sit through his previous shows like Tere Liye and Fear factor...something about 'Jalal' has hooked me to this show and I've never been taken by a TV character so much - not even Rajat's own Prithviraj Chauhan or Nitish Bharadwaj's Krishna...that's why I'm still clinging on..I also like Paridhi a lot... and visually they're both a treat...if they hadn't been here, it'd be much easier for me to switch off...Sanaya and Barun were a visual treat in IPKKND too...but, it didn't take me too long to switch off from there...this fixation is a bit different... I wonder what that says of me...coming to think of it I sat through Dhoom2 purely because Hrithik looked like Adonis descended on Earth when the movie made not an iota of sense.. 😆

Did you note one point? Practically none of those responding on this thread have touched on my key point/question: Why complain about the script when you drop your expectations at the first Jalal-Jodha scene, no matter how stale?
Nope not many are TOOO taken now, IYKWIM - the resentment's definitely building...compare the forum fever to what it was like post-Mohan or during the sword/arthi/lunch scenes...well, I for one stopped complaining... my latest bout of complaints was with Jalal's deteriorating characterization, since that's the only thing left for me to admire in this show!
About the rest of the tracks, I didn't even bother - because if I had to, there are/were so many points to cover I'd be a permanent rain on anyone's parade - like how Ben and Abul were busy hugging in public view like long lost lovers with barely a shawl to hide her body (not even her face), how Shareef becomes aware of EVERYTHING going around in the Sultanat while Jalal cannot see anything beyond Jodha/Ben at this point, how MA a political powerhouse had been reduced to a harem warden 2 tracks ago and is now literally a delinquent postwoman, how Shivani didn't even think for one second that Bharmal himself would hunt down Tej and have him killed for daring to make elaborate elopement plans with a princess...the list is endless...and I haven't even started on the blunders being committed in the name of one particular 'snake-lady''s biochemical composition - something that makes the black-blanket theory seem very realistic & plausible!
Thanks aunty... 😃

Aunty i love your analysis which was bang on..
EK knows what she is doing and it seems to work to a certain extent, the extent is limited to Jodha and Jalal..
there seemed to be no character growth and also the layers the characters were presented are know shredded layer by layer..
and with the inconsistencies galore in this serial, i am still hanging on..i don't know why but this show has all the reasons for me to invest my time in..
thanks Aunty for your analysis

Thanks a lot, my dear Bubbles. Yes, I too wonder at times why I stay with it, but I think it is for Rajat. whom I had never seen before this. But I agree with you that even he is seriously handicapped by the script. As for the rest, they are all 2 dimensional.

You know, Adiana, that might well happen, that is to say the Shivani going to Jalal part. He would help her too, and thus alienate Mirza for good. Jodha would of course be against the karigaar, who would be worse that "woh daasi"!😉 So Shivani and she can have a set to, with some home truths being spoken to the Shahi Begum by her kid sister.

But I half believe there is going to be a big blow up with Shivani running away and Jalal blaming Jodha. He might then still end up helping Shivani, and thus falling out with Mirza.

Anusha, what a neat term for my PM, a paigham! Thanks, I really like it.

As for handholds, and what I call the RK Films logo scene, with the girl bent backwards over the man's arm, as far down as possible without actually dropping her, they are the staples of TV romance, and they set me off in a fit of giggles.

No, I do not quite think that Jalal is lost beyond redemption, but what I am afraid of is that his dignity will be restored in a most unconvincing manner, as if by a fiat. And what does one do with his serial follies for a long time now, attribute them to a doppelganger? The character will become even more like a yoyo.

I do not think Jalal knows where he is headed any longer- there was real anger in his eyes at the end of the darbar scene, but then where was the need to praise Jodha's role as his wife so lavishly? Both of them know that his praise is a farce, and why this need on his part to make it appear to the Ameris - whether it is Shivani during the tel maalish (I am daily expecting Dabur Amla Hair Oil to start sponsoring Jodha Akbar😉) or Bharmal & Co. now, that his marriage with Jodha is flourishing?

I simply no longer get Jalal at all; he is drifting, pushed here and there and ending up moving in circles, like flotsam in an eddy.

Anusha, which husband would let his wife - that too this sort of nominal wife - settle his brother's marriage to her sister without his prior permission? Even today? Try that on your husband, if you are married, and see what happens. It is beyond belief.

And what is it with his yo yo attitude to Benazir? At one moment he is smiling like a cat looking at a bowlful of cream as she undulates within inches of him, and the next morning he dismisses her as of old. It is as if different writers were doing alternate episodes without having seen the previous one.

I cannot tolerate this aimless, uncertain, confused, helplessly compliant Jalal at all. I never cared for Jodha anyway, and I can stick her even less now. Rajat is superlative when they let him be - the way he rolls his head when Jodha is praising Mirza in his chambers was so fresh and so funny - but even he will not be able to keep this show afloat if this stasis and the deterioration in his character continues apace.

Right now, I cannot imagine this relationship between them ever being transmuted into one of desperate caring for each other, of the one being incomplete without the other. Just look at Jodha moaning to Kanha about her being upset only when Benazir is with Jalal. The only conclusion one can draw from that is that it is a class thing. Jodha cannot bear the idea of being supplanted by a "mere daasi". Ruqaiya or the other begums and Jalal - no sweat - they are highborn, so it is ok. What kind of beinteha ishq does this foreshadow? None.

One fine day, that "epic love" will descend on us, out of the blue, with neither logic nor continuity. We will be TOLD that it is so, Jodha will drape herself all over Jalal, Rajat will pull out all the stops, and we can imagine a placard in the backround, like the ones in the silent films "Ab shuru huyi hai in donon ki amar prem kahani!" Bingo!!

It is likely to the same with Jalal's dignity. It is enough to make one weep in frustration at this waste of resources.

Shyamala, it's only your paigham PM that brings me here to savour your post. ...and I'm laughing... The Handhold now? to add to The Shove? What better way to catch up with what's happening (or not happening) in Jalal's confused Sultanate HQ.

When it comes to handholds, I also back away real fast. I do watch the #1 show on the other channel and when they hold hands, I mentally stand near and poke those hands with a stick! It's just not something I like to see. Can I also claim to be older and therefore allowed to dislike this? I'm 40 plus and cannot stand any of these formulaic things that we are supposed to mentally tick off our romance list as the epic lovers crawl towards that night. Sigh. I thought JA would be different. It was different! Rajat's Jalal was special. Paridhi's Jodha had some strong moments. But this repetition reduces them to completely uninteresting people. Add to that, there seems to be a circus at Agra. So many new characters and paighams flying in all directions summoning more? If all these people could make the story more palatable, then good. But reading the updates ... it looks like a total schmozzle.

So you think Jalal can never recover his dignity after this? I would reserve my opinion on that for a bit. One strong story to restore Jalal first, may work. After that, the love story can be kick started with some necessary formulas that worked in the past with these shows. It would be a shame to let this show flounder so early. ...

I'm not fanatical enough to give up hope and rant yet...

Anusha.

Hi Shyamala, Am here to test my hypothesis. Yesterday's epi they had TE remembering the tiger attack. This has got me thinking. I dont knw how good the writers are since currently they have not been giving much proof of their ability yet this is a thought - Which tracks have yet to get closure?
As far I can remember the following tracks have not been given closure yet -

1. The tiger attack and TE injury
2. Shariffudin's obsession
3. TE gifting away the kila to the sister of his Begum
4. Bakshi Bano's crime and TE not having forgiven her which Jodha has been wanting him to and Jodha not understanding his reluctance.

Now lets look at the current track where we have the following mess -

1. Benny baby as the weapon to kill TE
2. Shivani
3. The Night and issue of Nazariya
4. Mirza Hakim

Now this is the hypothesis that I have come up with -

1. Benny Baby seems to definitely to be the closure for the tiger attack
2. Mirza Hakim may be the closure for the kila gift - how dont know
3. Shivani and Shariffudin most probably would be the closure for Bakshi Bano and Nazariyas / Dristikons and the issue of 'The Night'

Dont ask me how since I am not a part of the writing team but if I were, then I would be using these tracks for closure of the tracks which are festering!!! As I have been lamenting - The main problem is in the telling of the story and in character consistency!!!

You might be so right, Adiana, I exactly had the same thought when I read the spoiler which said Jodha will save Jalal from Ben & take the bite upon herself aisa kuch, that this will be closure to the tiger track. The rest 2 points u ve mentioned seems likely too though I hadn't thought about that till I saw ur post now. Let s see if the CV s make this very sense from the mass of tracks that they ve currently set up in the show.
