Today's episode was all about Jodha and how this new changed Jalal is affecting her big time. I had wondered many times in the past as to why Jodha never appreciates what all Jalal has done for her. She never acknowledged that he kept all his promises and also the one he never gave (ratri vyatit). Jalal went to an extreme of resigning himself just so that he could keep his promise. After the suicide track, we saw Jalal being extremely patient towards nakchadi badtameez Jodha. Even, then I wondered why Jalal is taking the crap and why Jodha does not understand how much Jalal is putting up with her. It looks like all those efforts of Jalal did not go waste after all. Our Ameri mirchi unknowingly got very used to that pleasant Jalal, the one who thinks a world about her. Somewhere inside she understood without Jalal saying it in words that she means a lot to him. So then when all her wounds were healed by Jalal, she was ready to acknowledge her respect/admiration/trust in him. Jodha without much hesitation for the first time told Hamida that she would give this relationship a try. Very obliging and condescending of her, I am sure!
Now that Jalal is not giving her the same attention and respect, she is unable to digest it. Its sad but true, that actual value of a possession is felt only when its not with us. Jodha has been made to believe now that Jalal does not consider her special and she does NOT like it one bit. Except that it is not just that he wants to give the impression that he does not consider her special, but also that he considers her beneath his notice.
We used to see Jalal find excuses to see Jodha and sometimes demand it in Shenshah style. Jodha again, deep down understood that Jalal desired her company. We saw Jalal praise Jodha hazaar times, to the point where it irritated me.
Now, Jodha does not know what to do without that warm person that bestowed so much importance to her. Jodha has always been all about self-respect, pride and Amer. She fought with Jalal many times to protect these core attributes of her. Yet, now she is in stage where her pride is taking a backseat. She is finding excuses to see Jalal or demand it in Jalal way (loved her EKAANT few days back). A few visits to Jalal are all results of her missing Jalal and being around him. He had insulted her royally and publicly, but she is back to return the gift. Jodha was not trying to insult Jalal at all by returning the gift (although Jalal took it that way), she was using it as an excuse to see him and hear Jalal refusal in taking the gift back. She badly needed some kind of hint from Jalal that he still cares. I wont be surprised if she makes an excuse of wanting her old anklet back just to see him again.
Jodha is going through the same cycle that Jalal went through. Jalal has already realized Jodha's importance in his life, its Jodha's turn to do so now. The more she lets go of her pride, the easier she will be able to get to this realization.
I did not like the new Moti at all. She does not know how to act and on top of it her demeanor was that of dasi, not Jodha's friend. Moti yet again helps her by asking the right questions and stating important facts. Moti forgive your friend, ek to Jalal usko bhaav nahin de raha aur uppar se Benazir ko kuch jyada hi de raha hai.
I agree that the new Moti is most unsatisfactory. She cannot get her lines right, and cannot even pronounce Benazir properly. The exchange between her Jodha was interesting in that it merely demonstrated that what apni Jodha misses is not Jalal, but the excessive bhav he gave her, and the khaas begum position as well.
This is only a variation of the theme I had developed in one of my earlier posts, that what Jodha will come to love is not Jalal ,but the eager grateful pupil that he had become. '
Now that is gone, and it is time for her to wake up and smell the coffee, Good!! I hope the old Jalal does not come back any time soon.
I liked Jodha's responses to Benazir, her anger is with Jalal only and she does not show it on Benazir. Imagine Ruqu in this situation, she would have fired Benazir and kicked her out of Agra. Benazir though has understood very well that Jodha is jealous and Jalal is angry with his khaas begum. Benazir plans to take advantage of this situation or so she thinks.
My take on this is different.
Benazir's neat jab about being ready to accept ANY utaran of Jodha's was pointedly double meaning. Now Jodha did try to hold her own, but it was not a terrain that suits her, and she ended up always looking both defensive and inadequate.
For example, that bit about the Shahenshah giving anything he chooses to a daasi, simply rolled off KT like water off a duck's back, and her comeback was far more to the point. Lastly, Jodha's remark about the Shahenshah choosing to pamper one pigeon or the other when the mood took him, and that this should not make that pigeon feel too big for its boots, was especially ill chosen, for it would apply perfectly to Jodha herself, and her present state.
And no, Ruqaiya would never have dared to drive Benazir out, for she would have known that Jalal would show her up by bringing his khaas tohfa right back. She would have handled the KT with casual dismissiveness.
Jalal must be thinking, yeh Tansen to meri biwi ki bhasha bol raha hai. She had earlier given him a lecture about Sangeet. Today, Jalal got a different one from Tansen. Jalal is the king of kings, yet is not consumed by this power. No wonder, Tansen understood Jalal and admitted that he respects Jalal. Tansen challenges Jalal many times on the gift and about visiting Agra, but Jalal lets him get away inspite of those disobedience. Its because Jalal loves people who are upfront and are not scared of expressing their views. I so hope that the reason Tansen moves to Agra is because of Jalal's some TEDA chaal.
As for Ram Tannu Pandey, the man is unbelievable in his sustained pompousness and arrogance. I assume his patron, the Maharaja of Rewa, kept him on praise and fresh air as rewards, since he despises gold and silver, and thus saved a lot of money into the bargain. !😉😉That whole scene, patently tailored to add one more coat of gilt to Jodha's halo, was artificial and unconvincing thru and thru. All Maharajas gave samman to their artists in terms of gold and jewels and silk angavastrams, which were accepted graciously. \
This chap is as self-righteous as his protegee. She should have been married to some fakir, so that she could rejoice in poverty and high thinking, without having anything to do with gold or silver!.
Precap: Jodha is unable to sleep with the new colors (green and red) in her life. She is thinking about Jalal and gets worried seeing him run. Poor Jodha is in for some more of green color in her life. For a good bit more, I hope, for it will take that long for any sense to penetrate into her cerebellum, not to speak of her medulla oblongata!😉
