Page 16 - Some OLD graves unearthed..!!..About MUZ..
A few days back I caught hold of a really tattered book that was undoubtedly a thousand years old(!).The book was sans author or publication house's name.
But the book spoke of a lady in Akbar's reign who was powerful enough to decide the state's foreign policy and not only that she had once waged a war and under her leadership the Mughal Army had emerged victorious.
Now my mind obviously flashed Jodha's name...
I would still want a confirmation of the sorts!!
Hi.😊
Well..
You mentioned MANY things..
Feel great to come across people who read genuine matter.
Kudos to u..👏.(and to me also..👏.)... because i have also come across such accounts.👍🏼.which you have mentioned...
Well...you said u forget the name of that book...No problems...I remember...I have the name of "that" book along with author names and even the page numbers...But, ryt now m mentioning, what i read there...I will put up a future posts where foreign accounts talk about Mariam Zamani...There will give the details...
Coming back...Foll. are "Facts" about MUZ..
1. Regarding War
Only lady in ENTIRE Mughal period, to command a cavalry of 12,000..!!(no other lady HAD THIS POWER or PRIVILEGE, not even Nur Jahan...)...
Again, a cavalry of 12,000 meant a lot those days. Only, king and 2 other MAJOR COMMANDERS, had this power...
So, in Entire sultanate-->ONLY 4 people had this power...
(From, accounts of Portuguese travellers.)
This info is also on my Part-1 thread.
Conclusion:
So, she could have waged a battle.. Who could be other QUEEN, in Akbar's time...considering above facts and powers with her..??. Agreed, she must NOT have participated personally. May be under her orders forces fought...
2. Regarding Foreign Policy
Again, it is possible. She traded with the Portuguese merchants. Had the IMPERIAL Ships under her control. The most famous is Rahimi.
The portuguese captured HER ship many times from.
ist around 1578-79...This time Salima Begum and Gulbadan Begum were on Haj..
2nd in 1609.
3rd in 1611.
finally 4th time in 1613...(all this is in part-1 thread..)
actually it was a bone of contention between mughals and portuguese.. as it was unrivalled for its huge size. It could carry 1500 people at a time..way back in 1577 A.D...(comparable to TITANIC, 400 years back.!!!!)
So, the Portuguese wanted trading concessions from Mughals, in Surat...
For, this they ALWAYS tried to capture the queen's ship...
Coz they were of the reason that, by capturing her ship--> they could easily harass the emperor and get trading concessions...
But, harassing Akbar was not their cup of tea.😆
Again same mistake was done, during Jahangir's reign, when her mother's ship was captured in 1613. But he RESPONDED in TOTAL ANGER.😡And, even in a more fierce manner than his father...😡..He sent his Favourite Governor to fight against them. And immediately ordered total shutdown of Portuguese activities in Agra and other places..
This EVENT is considered as a turning point in Indian History.
And, Portuguese literature mentions this as the INFLUENCE Of the Queen on her son.
This is despite the FACT that Nur Jahan also traded with them, and it was a LOSS for her, coz if Portuguese suffer, ultimately her trade will suffer. Still, Roe has recorded this event 'indirectly' portraying the precedence of MUZ over Nur Jahan..!!.since that act was a loss to NJ...a very remote possibility..But, it happened...
The following are famous lines which explain the above WAR-->>
" This episode is considered to be an example of the struggle for wealth that would later ensue and lead to colonization of the Indian sub-continent. "
I feel this clears her command over foreign policy to some EXTENT...More in future threads...
👍🏼..
