I agree Ruqaiah is one Lonely, insecure interesting character of JA serial. Her marriage happened with Jalaal when she was a kid and also that to with her friend Jalaal. Even though both were youg, but Ruqu stills treat him as a friend. She clearly told, she is fine and doesn't mind but just share him with withom he spent the night.

I think just like Jalaal understand he is falling for Jodha, Ruqu also doesn't know she loves Jalaal want him as a husband.Till now Jalaal allways shared everything with her and given her the aauda and powers to maintan hareem. Till now she didn't missed him, as he was not attracted to anywife, and also none have talent to stand before her.

But with Jodha, Jalaal is pulling towards her, he first time told her, he slept night with her and later releaved he didn't. Now he is giving importance to Jodha, and she verywell knows there is not husband-wife relationship between them. When JJ get close, she may feel isolated and loney, that time she will feel her love for him, not as a friend, but as a husband and will want his love, but Jalaal heart will be occupied by Jodha. Jalaal will be in pain unable to share his feelings to Ruqu nor Jodha.

Whatever may be Ruqu will surely understand and want Jalaal's happiness will bring JJ together.

It was more like a tradition in the Royal family that children grew under the care of their step mothers/Grandmothers. Mariam Makani brought up Shakrunnisa Begum one of Akbar's daughter under her care. Murad/Danial being sons of concubines were given to Salima Sultan/MUZ to take care of. Actually in reality none of Akbar's own children were brought up by Ruqaiya, that was an injustice with her. She was given khurram when Akbar realised his mistakes in middle age looking at his grieving first wife.
Ruqaiya truly deserved to be respected and loved but though she was active in mughal court as per some documents, history books never glorify her as a longest serving Mughal Empress. She was truly the only one empress with royal blood and was the witness of the prosperous times all the great 6 Emperors of Mughal dynasty. She was Babur-E-Aazam's granddaughter, Humayun's niece, Akbar's wife, she sorted out Akbar-Salim's differences and was care taker of ShahJahan, but in the end a lonely and complex character of history.

@jshweta16 👏
You just exactly summed up everything very correctly. She was also given Khurram only when she asked for him. A soothsayer had predicted to her that Khurram was destined for imperial greatness despite not being the first-born. Jehangir had two more sons before Khurram but they weren't entrusted to her.

A terrific post and about time too!!! 👏 👏 👏 kudos to you for showing the other side of the coin. and felt extremely happy to see almost everyone express sympathy and/or solidarity with this .
She is ,for me, a totally believable, relatable character. Jodha, on other hand, i admire and aspire to be like but from far, as she is shown to have too high, lofty ideals and standards.
Coming to the current track, it's her insecurity of losing Jalal , that is perhaps clouding her judgement and intelligence. maybe that's why she has lost her trust in her BFF, in Jala's constant assurances that he will let NO ONE come between them. I would have loved to see two things happen-
1. For Jalal to hold her close and assure her of setting things right,at least once!
2. For Jodha-Salima -Jalal-Ruqaiya joining forces to deal with this calamity of sorts.

A very interesting thread...I am totally loving it. I totally agree with your views and the period too.

After Rajat it was Ruqayya's character that kept me hooked to the show; after replacing the actress CV's mostly tried to portray her as other woman but she it NOT. Kudos to you for writing on Ruqayya's plight which most of us give a blind eye being busy in romancing the other pair. 👏 👏

I agree Ruqaiah was not treated fairly neither by his family nor by history.
All i am saying is that khurram was only child of jodha bai so taking him away from her was injustice and cruel. If jodha had more children it would not have been a tragedy.
The only reason i opened this thread is that i see serial and even many comments blaming ruqaiah about way she behaves possessive and rude etc
But jodha, salima and other begums snatched jalal from her not other way. So stop treating her like a vamp who came in between jodha-jalal. She is also an human being what all she must have undergone alone? Jodha has man singh in agra from family ruqu has no one. Even her own aunty hamida, gulbada and sister salima are not with her they are with jodha. So obivously a lone human(or animal) becomes aggressive not to hurt anyone but to ensure not one hurts them in fear.

But dear it was an custom in the royal family and khurrum wasn't snatched from his mother. He did spent time with his parents in between. I haven't found any document stating ruqaiya did not allow jagat gosain to meet khurram, If you are talking about twentieth wife of Indu then that was a fictional history. And if you are saying that it was an injustice with Jagat Gosain then she was not the first. Dildar begum's children hindal mirza and gulbadan begum was brought up by Maham begum who was Humayun's mother. Bakshi banu daugher of Gunwar Bibi was brought up by Mariam Makani. And so did Akbar's other children as I have mentioned in my earlier post. If it is so then there was injustice with all these ladies also. But as it was a custom they had to follow it.

Yes you are right...it was an injustice from our POV as we belong to 21st century..back in the 16th century women had to follow their husbands order and could not raise their voice against him. And we are talking about royal family where there is no opposing to the Emperor's decision. It had been like this only since Timur the Lane, his son Shahrukh Mirza an apparent heir was brought up by his chief consort Saray Khanum Sultan who was childless. Somewhere this custom was deep down rooted in the Mughal-Persian families and was followed in later generations, so Akbar is hardly to blame in case of Khurram.
