Only a week of watching the show and I'm already in a conundrum on Jalal's behalf. Jodha Akbar does a good job of taking me right into the heart of the court and then putting a half-opaque screen between me and the inner workings of Jalal's mind. His heart is, I suspect, totally out of bounds to me. I would have more luck with his heart if I were one of his loyal subjects, but... never mind. I have a ringside seat to lots of other doings, so it's a good trade off.
I'm sure in earlier episodes he was shown doing things other than sorting out his friendship level with Jodha. But now he is grappling with Jodha's new tenderness towards him. Not sure I came at the right time. But no matter I will go back and check out his other exploits because this is a many faceted personality. Jalal telling his subjects that they are his children... with all the main protagonists standing there with him and half bowing to the greatness that they were witnessing... it hit me in all the right spots mentally. Emotions are easy to manipulate, but the scene went past that for me.
Onwards from that, I kind of see how difficult it must have been for the Shahenshah. He has to be many things to many people. All things to all people even. Still he finds time for some self reflection so that he can stay sane. Well he maybe managing it but I'm finding it a challenge. Just trying to work out how to be fair to Ruqaiya and Jodha, how to determine the right amount of access they have to his heart, to his time. . And this is just one such conundrum. He has to work this out on a daily basis with almost everyone he encounters. He is the emperor. Yes, I think I'll start with this one fact as the foundation for all further thoughts ... 🤔
