Thanks Shymala, but my last post of Akbar as a visionary ruler was for Ash's post of Akbar / Jodha taking / giving.
And I think we are both criss-crossing our lines even as we say the same thing!!! My earlier post on giving and taking also was for some of those posts that were polarising over who is giving / taking!!!

According to my pov both are giving and not just materially and both are taking - more or less is moot.

And the presentation of Jodha is a highly unpleasant Indian TV issue - make Jodha look small to make Akbar seem large. I actually wonder if a rajputana princess who was very highly educated and accomplished in all the 16 kalas would have ever conducted herself in this fashion. She may have definitely asked for time to enter into the physical aspect of conjugality but I do not think she would have ever behaved the way Ekta maiyya's team is portraying.

The fort was promised by Sd and not once during those tension filled time did any of Ameri family or Jo asked him to give it to the groom...It was Jalal's own will which was actually forced by shirfu...Jodha is not some money grabbing leach...

If Jalal was not happy with Jodha's decision then he would not have given that speech to Awam...

Jalal was ready to give up his throne for the promise he made to her...not for Jodha and Jalal was not at all convincing in those moments of tension...it was as if he secretly wanted her to agree to convert...

Jalal saved Jodha's honour and Jodha saved his sister...Matter closed...Jodha still has not reached that level of attraction for him to do something extra...

This woman when she falls in love with Jalal will never do any Len den behind his back...Ruku was willing to let Jalal make a wrong decision and let innocent MB die...Do you find it admirable?
I dont...

She did not ask, but she used emotional blackmail to get him to react. She knew very well what she was doing if even the idea came to her through MA. She herself said it to MA. She used blackmail and thats that. And because Jalal used his own brainy masterstroke to resolve the issue , everybody has forgotten about it. She was not even grateful for it at the end. This was a strategist thinking, not the usual Jodha that we see. I was happy for it. She does the same thing in letting HB make the decision for her during the conversion issue.

I dont see how this is any different from Ruku thinking about not saving the bandhi. She is a strategist too, and knows when to choose which path. And in a world where wars are fought and dead bodies never counted, how is she wrong? Jalal will also not hesitate to choose the lesser evil if he has to.

If Jo is allowed to fall back on her upbringing as a guide then why shouldnt Ruks and Jalal? Havent they grown up in an atmosphere where power is all important? It has been drilled into their brains from the beginning and they have learnt to not underestimate the advantages of being royal and powerful.

Let me use another of Devdutt Patnaik's quotes here - Kali yuga: when those deemed bad can do no good, and those deemed good are not allowed to be bad.
We are so obsessed with who is the hero and who is the villian that we are forgetting that ppl come in all colors of the rainbow and that is what makes for a magical world and an equally magical life.

The @blue, my dear, is a major compliment, which I value accordingly. Thank you very much.

No, Jalal was not being shatir. If he had wanted to let his sister off, he would never have exposed her in the first place, but hushed the whole matter up. Why would he let the cat out of the bag and then try and stuff it back in thru the unpredictable Jodha?

He shifts the sentencing to Jodha for the very reason he cites, that any judgment of his will be seen as too lenient. He is not happy after the verdict, that is very clear.

As has been pointed out correctly above, he severs all his ties withe Bakshi Banu after Jodha has pardoned her. He has clearly not forgiven her, and I do not feel that he wanted Jodha to pardon her. Nor is he sure that Jodha will pardon her. When Jodha talks initially of the need for punishment for the crime, Jalal closes his eyes in weary anticipation.

A thought provoking write-up for sure Shyamala.

what i thought at first when Jalal asks Jodha to give the sentence instead of him was that he was "shatir". I mean one cud plainly see that Jodha was shown ready to forgive BB already. She loves to be magnanimous and so it served Jalal's dual purpose, of being a just emperor and of a brother who, inspite of the immense hurt and mortification meted out by his most-loved-sister cannot condemn her outright!
But since then am reconsidering my opinion.

My dear Kamal,

What can I say after this post has been praised so lavishly but thanks a million! I am delighted that you liked it as much as that.

Hi Shyamala,
To say the least,It could only be you , who could portray the epi with this eloquence!!!!👏😃 I simply do not have enough words to praise the similes that u drew with Roman, Greek , Indian heroes to equate with our Jalaal (Our Akbar The Great in Making...)😊
The Emperor's sorrow of being betrayed by his own blood, the pain of disclosing the truth to all , the bravery in standing up for his wife's honor...etc all were made to come in front of our eyes once again with ur words , even though we were not in front of the TV screen...😊
Marvelous...!!👏

Regards,
Kamal

I have no issues with Jo being wrong. in fact that would make her more human and more appealing. Like aunty, said its her houlier than thou attitude that seems shallow to me.

For all her questions to Ruqs, I would be very interested in hearing her answer if Ruqs spins the precap questions and asks her, if she would love Jalal should he not be a 'good virtuous man'?

I doubt if at present Jodha will even acknowledge any emotion called love. And I am consistently pointing to the habit of ours - ek ko bada dikhane ke liye doosre ko chota dikhana - which seems to be an obsession with Indian serials.

Yes I agree she doesnt love him at all. I meant if Ruks presents a hypothetical situation like that to her, I wonder if Jo would ponder the implications of that situation.

I also agree with you on the shortcoming of Indian shows. Completely.
