I am not sayng I support bigamy or polygamy but it was the norm starting from our epics to the day laws were passed to prohibit this custom.

And I agree if Jalal wants to spend time with Jodha then even Jodha can't stop him.

A very nice balanced post.

Thanks Lana for your support on my comments and the post. Yep, I have no idea where Ekta is going with Jodha. She seems to be giving us the right Jalal or may be it is RT that is doing justice to it. Not that Paridhi is bad, but her character existed the way it is shown in 16th century is so unrealistic. Even in this century I would not be a fan of such a character and hence no idea what Ekta is trying to prove or show. But she must be doing something right as Shyamala points out, as there are quite a few fiercely supporting Jodha.

I also want to point out in realistic portrayals bakshi bano is very real. This is 16th century well before women liberation, can imagine blind devotion to husbands and men in General was the norm. I think I am the only one who felt bad for her. We need to view these characters thru 16th century purdah. And another thing I lived in Saudi for a large part of my life and let me tell you the things that I saw, rumours, expectations of women in that society, how men behaved lot of it people outside that sphere can never wrap their head around some of the stuff would shock and appall people. Mughal were descendants of Persians so one can imagine the kind of culture that creates women like bakshi bano. If jalal is a true Mughal, I am sure akbar was in real life, at the first ghrina dialogue jodha was toast. But that does not mean I am calling them abusers, culture, way of thinking and expectations was different.

bout jalal's character but no one has problem with it.

Ruqu and MA have never blamed Jalal as a man with no Morales, a liar or for dishonesty. Never has Ruqu called him a sexual predator, that is huge blame. Yes, dear we are never going to put them under same microscope as Jodha. Ruqu has been called as a spoiled child by many people and MA the white naagin by me whenever she deserved it.

Yep, I agree characters like BB even exist today. I only wish that god gave them strength or companions who would bring them out of this misery.

sorry for jumping in...when hakim sahiba declared jodha pregnant ...jodha blamed jalal fo breaking his promise but wasnt it ruku who blamed Jalal for cheating their friendship...the point which i m trying to make is that it is situation which makes every character go grey ...but here if jodha sneezes whole forum catches cold😆

Meghna we are watching the show Jodha Akbar , where these 2 are the leads. If we were watching a show Maham, Ruqaiya Akbar then l would have considered what Ruq and Maham are thinking and saying to and about Jalal but since Jodha is the lead we will mainly consider her dialogues and thoughts about Jalal and vice versa.
That is why Jodha's perspective about Jalal is so important.

lovely analysis.. I really liked the Jalal BB scene, the poor soul always misunderstood and then has to go through lots of pains all alone. His every near and dear ones are trying to conspire against him.
The precap is a change in this two ladies, first ruku back to her bimbo self and Jodha, for the first time acknowledging her fault.😊

di, what's wrong in it to demand some sensibility in Jodha??? yup Ruku and maham also pass creepy remarks, and you know very well, a handful of people here like ruku that only when she behaves logically and emotionally but not always, and people like maham mostly for her sharp political astuteness, her twisted emotional state for both her son and foster son, her sharp eyes which doesn't miss any single thing, and for her intelligence, her strategies and for her dramabazi to get control of any situation that can go against her,

But honestly Jodha doesn't possesses this kind of qualities which maham possesses, she is not as sharp as maham and moreover headstrong and so righteous that often invites problems herself. she is more a white character which has a set of ideas about her hubby, so why would we consider maham and jodha at the same level, and moreover if she passes creepy remarks like maham , then what remains left to like her character. Moreover maham was a maid, she had raised to wajir post by her loyalty and intelligence, and Jodha is royal borne, what suits maham doesn't suit Jodha.

Spot on, my dear Pallavi. If you want to sit on a pedestal, then you have to fit it. You cannot wallow in the mud and then ask to be rated AAA.

Jodha's remark last night about Jalal and the baandi was so bad that I could not believe she had actually said it. I have always said that Jodha is free to dislike Jalal all she wants, but she has to have a cool dignity and aloofness. But then I never even imagined that she would stoop to making a remark as cheap as this one. Even after Jalal explains that he needs that baandi kaam ke silsile mein, she does not stop. This is supposed to be royal breeding a la Mynavati.
