Similarly, had they shown Jo convert (like some chronicles state) it could have led to Karni Sena protests and me thinks they wouldn't show that bit either! She's going to remain our Jo Begum***Lashy, here it is not about she would be converted, but there was no concern from her side when they said that he needs to step down from his throne. For her all it mattered was her religion shouldn't be affected, we agree, but there was one point Ruq's pointed which was very apt, while getting married, we as Hindus make all promises about giving "saath" to husband in any situation, but she didn't stand by him or atleast after the issue was sorted, she did not even think that he was ready to give up the throne, but all I was concerned is about my religion belief getting affected.

Lovely political take on the entire episode aunty...No doubt a lot of thought, research and experience has gone into it!However, my only explanation (that I also posted in your other thread) would involve advising one and all to briefly replace the historical/political-fan part of oneself and put on the cap as that of a general viewer to see why or how this seemingly illogical twist might have even be presented on screen! My thoughts on it -Romantic angle to please the viewers -Firstly, the general public (there will ALWAYS be exceptions) would not have this much of in-depth knowledge/interest or even time to put in such thought/research as us while watching an episode of Jodha Akbar. My expectation of how the general households who view this serial is that of moms who're busy completing pre-post dinner chores, girls silently whistling at the handsome Jalal and boys waiting for the next action sequence (and a few with a silent crush on PS maybe???)The one thought that'd remain in their minds after watching it all (Again there'll always be exceptions)'Akbar kitnaa mahaan thaa...zubaan ke liye apnaa takth tak chodne ko tayyaar thaa!'Over time, a lot of our heroes (mythological and historical) have changed characteristics/faces to incite interest in viewers - especially so in mass-driven evening serials. Therefore, I doubt the Balajis have taken it upon them to represent Jalal just as he was. (I'm still quite surprised she has even depicted him this grey - a truer version than what was in the movie definitely!)Jalal ready to abdicate his throne for the sake of his pyaari Begum (which would NEVER HAVE happened in history unless he was love-sick like Edward VIII - which he was not!) is basically just to please audiences of our Indianized drama who love this 'Praan jaaye par Vachan na jaaye' clause! [Even now, we have even Jalal-sympathizers state the 'zinda jalaa denge' phrase as his lowest point - when I cannot think why Akbar himself would have acted any differently had such an incident happened in his palace! Why, take the durg issue for instance - When he was not ready to give up his durg for Jo's sister, there was a lot of hushed displeasure even amongst us lot. The moment he gave it up (also enhanced by the manner in which he did) I could sense a lot of cheer and celebration! Not many were of the mindset that Akbar would NEVER have gone around giving up such strategic locations for the sake of a Begum's sister. Many people like Sukanya would have ended up being collateral damage in the cruel world of politics - Empires can function only if emperors continued seeing the bigger picture. YET, this apathetically mundane reality would not be something that would make for interesting viewing. Therefore, this twist in the Durg issue was brought in purely as a people-pleaser.]Jalal's standing by a Vachan he gave to Jo is like something that never makes logical sense, yet tugs our viewer's heart strings - something that lets you leave the cinema or switch off the TV with a smile on your face and not delve upon the hows or whys of it! It's all not very different from how SRK and Imran Khan would run all the way to the flight hangar to stop a taking-off plane so they could propose - thus making the movie a superhit!Something like how the business magnates of today's Tele-world give up their businesses and appointments to run out into the rain so they can propose to their girlfriend - thus making the segments a superhit!Had this been a documentary of Jalal with his Begums in the background, this wouldn't have happened. However, this is a fictional romantic drama - so Jalal and Jodha's relationship will continue to be at the forefront - with various twists/angles (factual/fictional/logical/illogical) etc brought in to keep the general audience hooked! 😊The disclaimer angle to curb the protesters -I'm guessing Ekta didn't want to take too much risk with Jalal directly subduing the Mughal clerics (what with the serial already having seen so many protests from Najmullah etc. Why, basic movies with these kind of comparatively subdued religious themes seem to be facing problems..with this being a long-running serial, she's NOT going to take that kind of risk!)Yet, we do know that Jalal was a man who went against fanatics or people who tried to force him. So in order to show a balance, she ended up showing an initial brief segment where he states he'd have beheaded them..and then later stays quiet and finally subdues!(I actually was quite shocked when I heard him say he'd have beheaded the Maulvis! Long time since I've heard dialogues like this - what with modern TV having become very politically 'correct' all the time!)This ^^^ is the only logical explanation I can give for this mis-representation of Jalal's policies. By the way, this is not the only issue in which I feel the makers haven't shown a strong pro/anti stance of Jalal.Similarly, had they shown Jo convert (like some chronicles state) it could have led to Karni Sena protests and me thinks they wouldn't show that bit either! She's going to remain our Jo Begum
