Is this Love....

Look Jodha! I...' Jalal ventured but Jodha cut him off and said leave it Shahenshah! How would you understand the importance of trust in life', her voice had risen as she had spoken these words.

Jalal tried to get a word in edgewise but had failed. She was angry, but dammit! This woman has always done the damndest thing at the damndest time. She would never shut up when she has to. His temper rose as he listened to her as she spoke. He went up to her, grabbed her shoulders and said, Enough! Enough Jodha Begam! I don't want to talk about it anymore, because you won't understand' Jalal roared in agony as he felt that trying to make his Begam understand everything was almost impossible.

Dejected, Jodha stepped away from Jalal, fighting against the withheld tears in her eyes.

I'm not going to bear shahenshah's torture anymore! What the hell does he think of himself? His acts would make Sukanya's marital affairs worse', she muttered to herself as she stormed out of the tent lifting the heavy skirt she was wearing.

Jalal sat on the edge of his comfy bed, shook his head and smiled at the immaturity of his wife. Women would never be able to understand the evil games men play for power. They are far more delicate to involve in such matters. How he wished that his wife too would understand and accept that fact and believe everything he did was for her. Only for her, and for her family. He had already accepted the defeat of his heart against his soul regarding the matters with Jodha.

Jalal did not see Jodha the entire day, which made him miserable. He entered her room secretly, all was silent except one or two lamps were still on. It was suffused in a glow that lit just enough to create a dim atmosphere. He turned around as he heard the rustling of curtains near the open window. He went up to the window and looked out, but found that there was no sign of Jodha.

He had lashed out in pain. Pain of someone else's deeds reflected in that nano second of moment when he felt Jodha had restored back to her old self. But these few days had shown him how different she was, how caring and selfless she was. She had taken care of him just like a perfect wife would do, and that also when she was able to kill him and cover up it as just an accident. She was so different from the women that he had met.

He had queried from her maid and come to know that Jodha was missing since afternoon. He calculated the time mentally and nodded his head knowing that she too must have been upset ever since their argument in the afternoon. But where would she be? She might be with Ammi jaan, he thought. But he was wrong, Jodha was nowhere around the tents.

He became livid, when he realized she had been missing, missing since the afternoon. This woman will always do exactly what he was trying to protect her against. Had she try to understand the reason for his actions, she would have never invited a threat to herself. He was not afraid of the life threatening dangers coming to him, but he would never let her get exposed to his enemies. He knew that this childish behavior of his wife was going to be the death of him yet. He laughed at himself for becoming a romantic fool, who did everything to protect that chit of a girl. His every move was towards her betterment, whether it was to put himself as a heartwarming meal for a tiger. He felt humbled at her foolishness, but did she not realize that wandering through alone in a route like this would put her in danger?

Jalal walked away from the caravan in the hailstorm, freeing himself from his bodyguards. He could not waste a single second now. It was now or never for him. He tightened the scarf around his neck and hurried his steps as he reached the open grassland just a few minutes' walk away from the caravan. His eyes caught a glimpse of the shining dupatta of Jodha just behind a short tree. She had covered her head and her face partly to not be recognized, but he would know her anywhere, he mused. There, he had become totally captivated by her and forgot that he was supposed to be mad at her.

He reached her and was about to say a word, but seeing her pale face and bluish lips made his heart to skip a beat or two. She was unconscious and shivering uncontrollably in the merciless storm. He lifted her admonished her for trying stunts like these. She would never learn to take care of herself, but always attract his enemies.

He almost ran into his tent, ignoring the evil glances of Mham Anga and sending away his protectors. He placed her on the bed, and rubbed her hair with a towel to dry it out. Jodha was still shivering and he glared her with eyes that told her that it served her right. He called out her maid and asked to change her clothes as she was all soaked out. He tried to warm her up by lighting up candles and rubbing her feet and palms. He become hopeless as the thick fur blanket was unable to do any good for her condition.

Jalal slide onto the bed and held Jodha beneath the blanket when he was failed with all the other options. Slowly he gathered her into his arms and closed his eyes, leaving a drop of tear to roll freely from the edge of his left eyes. The minute he touched her curved hips, he felt that an unknown sting of emotions ran through his spine. He pressed her into him, almost crushing her against his strong muscles, praying to the Almighty to let her gain consciousness.

Few minutes passed with them being in each other's arms, and Jalal almost dozed off. He heard a faint voice that alerted him, but realized that it was Jodha, mumbling something. He lowered his ear near her lips to hear what she tried to say. He could not understand what she was mumbling, so he tried to hush her, feeling that she was too weak to speak.

Just then, Jodha sat up with a startle and crossed her hands over her chest, realizing where she was. She looked at her clothes and gazed at Jalal questioningly, for which he only raised his eyebrows and smiled at her asking her to lie down and get some rest.

Jodha Begam, you need to get some rest' he touched her shoulders.

Jodha shuddered and growled Stay there' and he stayed.

Jodha Begam! I'm so mad at you that I could do something really bad, so don't make me lose my temper. And don't be scared, I'm not going to do anything to you' he said in one breath and leaned against the headboard of his bed.

Being as stubborn as she was before, Jodha tried to get out of the bed, but failed as she was feeling shaky. She sat at the edge of the bed and closed her eyes, feeling her stomach growl in hunger. Jalal offered her a glass of warm milk that was kept on a small table beside the bed. Just as Jodha took the glass and took a sip of milk he said, So Jodha Begam, how was your trip in the hail storm? And how are you feeling now after being wrapped in the same blanket with me?'

His latter question made her blush and he could clear see the change in colour on her cheeks. He looked at him, he was there looking at her. Looking delicious like always. Had he known how strong she had been fighting against her own feelings these day, he would have never questioned her like this. She looked away as their gaze met, trying to hide the sudden shyness that engulfed her. She remembered how strong yet how careful he was while holding her in his arms, when she gained her consciousness. A smiled appeared on her lips as she remembered how she looked at him while he was a sleep, holding her in his arms for the first time.

Well, I'm sorry to say this... I fail a big time with long running stories... I started one and I failed to update regularly cos of work. So I feel better to be on the safe side and give you single shots or double shots, but I'm thinking about your request 😉
