Hameeda smiled and both of them had the berries.
Suddenly, they heard voice of Horses and could make out that,,someone was near to them..
They got scared like a rabbit and hid behind the big tree.
But, suddenly Jalal and his soldiers came face to face with Jodha and Hameeda..
Jalal's face was full of fear, anger, happiness..An amalgam of all kinds of expressions.
Jodha and Hameeda were horrified to see him.
Chapter 8 :
Jodha couldnt believe he was actually standing in front of her.
A dark terror of all the past events gushed through her mind in a flash.
She had seen him for the first time after that day, excluding the time when he caught her while fainting.
She felt numbed. She looked straight into his eyes and for the first time, her eyes fumed with unimaginable anger.
She asked a million questions from her eyes and Jalal could easily understand her eyes.
But at that moment, he was relieved beyond anything, to find her alright!
Hameeda and Jodha realised, that they were easily outnumbered and surrounded by so many Soldiers.
Jalal for a moment, wanted to hug her tight..for he had found both of them safe and sound.
He saw her tummy, and smiled pricelessly. HE wanted to care for her,,give her the love which she deserved as a wife and would be mother.
But he dared not..to touch her..Her each gaze at him broke him into million pieces.
Hameeda suddenly worked up her mind and took out a dagger that she had hidden in her dress, while leaving from the Mahal.
She had kept it for their protection, but she thought now - Its high time..to make its best use"..
SHe Turned Jodha behind her Back, came in front of Jodha..held the dagger at Jalal and said loudly -
Jodha beta jaiye yahan se...jaldi bhagiye...Hum dekhte hain aapko kaun rokta hai..
HUm hain yahan..Jaldi..Aapko humari saugandh..Bhaagiye..Hum nahi chahte ke humara kul-vansh Agra mahal mein Janm le..
Aap bhagiye..
Jodha was astonished at her Ammi's love for her. She couldnt even react for next few moments.
Jodha thought - I cannot believe this Kanha..The mother is so selfless, loving and caring...But The son..Even her mind glitched to think about him.
Hameeda shouted again - Jodha beta jaiye... And she kept threatening Jalal with the dagger.
Jalal was not even paying attention to what was happening. He still was happy, that he got back his mother and unborn child..and most important his WIFE!!..
Finally, he came back to reality. He didnt budge.
Jodha said (in low yet angry and shaky voice ) - Hum aapko chodkar kahin nahi jayenge Ammi-Jaan..Chahe aap kitni bhi saugandh dein..
HUm aapko kaise chodkar jaa sakte hain..
Hameeda pleaded - Jodha Begum..Hum Jalal aur unke sainiko ko dekh lenge..Aap samay vyarth mat kijiye..Jaaiye..(she almost shouted now)
Jodha ran her eyes around, not knowing what to do.. Her eyes immediately caught the view of a Horse..It was the horse of one of the soldiers..
SHe ran with her full might towards the horse and got up on the horse.
Jalal, Hameeda, Atga Sahab and all other soldiers were flabbergasted at Jodha's move.
The soldiers did not dare to say anything, since She was their QUeen. They waited for Jalal's reaction.
Jodha immediately went near Hameeda, asked her to get up on the horse and they would run away.
Jalal felt so hurt to see this. He realised that he deserved everything he was experiencing. He deserved much more..
He had sweared after that incident, that he would never ever interfere in Jodha's life again..
But today, he felt broken ...seeing Jodha's reaction to him.
Hameeda got up on the horse and Jodha started riding the horse.
Jalal had to take fast step.. He was in such a mix of emotions...that his mind could hardly work!!
He ordered his soldiers..to not to take any step.
Jalal got up on the horse, easily overcame Jodha and came in front of her horse.
He finally had to take this step.
He got down of his horse, forcingly stopped Jodha's horse and came near both Jodha and Hameeda.
Finally, he said in a loud voice - Bas !! Bahut hua.. Humein yakeen nahi hota Ammi-Jaan ke aap Jodha BEgum ka is bachkaani harkat mein saath de sakti hain.
Both of them got down of the horse and Jodha was not in a mood to listen to his words.
Her blood was boiling beyond everything. All her inner turmoil and anguish was reaching its peak.
She clutched Hameeda's hand and started running..away from Jalal and his vicinity.
Jalal was astonished. He thought - She hates me so much!! His face saddened.
Hameeda was herself so sad..She felt bad for Jodha.. She could realise now..That Jodha had been deeply bruised by her son's deeds.
So she had decided to support Jodha in everything.
Jodha ran a little and started feeling dizzy. Her legs trembled, not able to take up anymore load..be it physical weight or mental emotional weight and she lost the balance.
The big mountain of darkness and anger clouded over Jodha's eyes.
Hameeda shouted - Jodha...
Jalal ran towards them..and caught Jodha on time..
He shouted on the soldiers - Jaldi mahal vaapas rawana hone ki taiyari kijiye.. Jodha Begum..Aakhen kholiye..Jodha..
Hameeda was already in a trance.
And for she had already agreed in her decision, She could easily analyse the outcomes of it.
She cried profusely.
She said- Jalal...Bacha lijiye humari beti ko..
Jalal looked at Hameeda with mixed expressions of Anger and fear.
He said (with tearful voice) - Ammi Jaan..Hum to pehle se hi gunahgaar the..Humne to gunah kiya hi tha..lekin kahin na kahin Jodha Begum ki haalat ki zimmedar
aap bhi hain..
Agar inhe kuch hua, ya humare bache ko kuch hua..to naa to hum khud ko kabhi muaff kar payenge..aur na hi aapko!!
He lifted Jodha in his arms..Hameeda could not say anything but cried.
All of them made their way back to Agra Palace.
