@Myviewprem: Yes, The Manmati alliance was initiated by MUZ rather than Akbar and Salim was only abt 15 yrs at that time...so hardly had a say ...But even then, he became heartbroken when Manmati committed suicide and it was His Father who discreetly tried to give him mental support , even if they were at loggerheads at that time...
BUT , I note in every writeup that u post here that...there seems to be a strange bias for what Jehangir wrote told or thought...which should NOT ever be the case with a person who ui trying to Put Up a Real Picture...U see, by saying Akbar didn't have time for Love, it is making the post look funny and baseless(And surely Akbar's Rooh did not come and tell you specifically that, Right??)...A person who can love his children and relatives to Wet nurses so much, why should he refrain himself from loving his spouses???😆 The reason he refrained from declaring anything of the sort only shows HOW PRUDENT HE WAS And NOT THAT HE WAS A MORON...😊The reason he involved his cousin-wives in court matters was that they were acquainted with the do's and dont's of Mughal Sultanate as they were BORN into that Family, so were better equipped to take decisions...And not because he did not TRUST MUZ.
AlSo My dear , I would like to point out clearly once and FOR all...Love for siblings / Cousins and Love for a Spouse :These two categories are very different from Each other and should not be messed up with As both are very strong bonds and should not be Compared EVER!!!! ...No point in being excessively obsessed with Jehangirnama (Earlier also I did post here that This is about Akbar himself)...That is not exactly a reliable source and should not be taken on Face value...

BTW, Jagat Gosain was called Jodh Bai and NOT Jodha Bai...

Hi Sara,
Yes, it was MUZ who initiated the Alliance between Salim and Manmati hoping to strengthen the family Bond...Salim was 15 yrs at that time...so hardly had a say ...But even then, he became heartbroken when Manmati committed suicide and it was His Father who discreetly tried to give him mental support , even if they were at loggerheads at that time...

Akbar was a very intelligent man No Doubt...😉 and he knew how to avoid internal conflicts in his own Household....hence he never made any comment which could evoke negative emotion between his spouses ...(Quite a smart Chap ...isn't he??😉) But I still feel he was GREAT because to be able to carry on the responsibilities and still maintain cordial relation between family members is Tough and surely credits hims Bonus Points for that...!!!😊

Belated EID MUBARAK TO U AND UR FAMILY😃
Regards,
Kamal

P.S.Yes, it is Sad but there seems to be strange biases against the erstwhile emperor in this forum , where we should remember that this forum is not a place to teach History and that too from quotation of translated memoirs...😕(PM are there for discussions if anyone wants to...so no need to open topics on controversial things)

I have nothing against or for Akbar, Jehangir, Jodha or Ruqaiah. All humans have shades of grey cannot be completely black and white so just was trying to point both aspects together in my post.
Regarding jehangirnama/akbarnama since written by person themselves or appointed by them will obivously be biased their verson/interpretation of events. I just quote jehangirnama more because a person writting personal diary will be more honest than a person who has been paid to write a diary(Akbarnama).
We know no one avialable to tell truly correct versionso all we can do is guess.

Well,
About honesty , one can be honest while writing a diary only in his own case..i.e. he can be honest about his own feelings and actions But the same is NOT true for HIS Opinion about Others or their actions... memoirs are always fraught with personal biases and hence calls for discretion on part of the reader...
