WHAT an emotionally charged episode , Aunty! How I was glued to my seat! It had all the ingredients of Love, Passion, Courage & Forbearance to make it the electric episode that it was! My favourite till date. 😳
Jalal was back to his mischievous self with Jodha. The way he kept circling her as if he was a tiger & she, a deer. And those slight smiley smirks. Haiyyye! 😳
Jodha showed herself to be what she truly is- A BRAVE, loyal & courageous Rajputani. The minute she saw that magnificently dangerous baagh she jumped in front of her pati-Dev to protect him by shooing off the tiger with that makeshift torch but he was having none of that. And the second Jalal realised what she was upto he jumped in front of his Begum & the sher to protect HER. When the chips are down, these two rely on themselves to protect the other 😃.
Rajat was super-lative & I've no words for this wonder of an actor. He can act the world off every actor on the small screen & I wonder what wonders he will do once he progresses onto the Silver screen. Because that is bound to take place.
Paridhi was superb in her bound, hysterical panic. In her angry, scared-outof-her brain rant to Jalal, "Hum Aapko marrne nahin denge! Sun rahe hain naa Aap?" In her wild-haired, torn clothes , bloody self. It was Churchill i think, who said,"courage isn't the lack of fear, it is the over-coming of it" and Jodha brought to mind the truth of this quote yesternight. Aunty, I was furious with her seeing her utter stupidity, small-sightedness & for her attitude that reeks not of a Rajputani princess but that of a nouveau riche country bumpkin!! But the way she strapped Jalal with those banyan tree ropes, the way she held his head to her shoulder like he was hers. You might say I am being a hopeless romantic Aunty, but it did not only depicted romance to me but also Jodha's understanding of the urgency of the situation. It brought to her the full-force of the Gunaah she had done . Because a Gunaah, it most certainly is! And that her actions have far more far-reaching consequences that she has ever been able to see , being a Begum of the Mughal Sultanate.
In that one instant when she sees her husband drift into un-consciousness, in her helpless & frightened anguish, it seemed Iike Jodha had grown up. And mark my words- There will be a sea of change in her after this fatal trick of hers! Jodha has always operated within the realm of Black & White not ever bothering to see that often the world is painted in grey, brown & dirty shades of white. But I am very much hoping that after this incident, she cleanses herself off all her "ghrina" for her pati & accepts him whole-heartedly. And I think she has. When she touches her Jalal se rangi hui khoon bhari maang, she suddenly had a dawning realisation-THIS man is HER husband.. And off went the determined Rajputani on ghudh-savaar, determined to not let Jalal be caught by Yamraaj! 😳
Such a colossal event was needed, for Jodha to grow-up. And for her to release her the ramifications of her actions beyond the Personal.
Jodha has constantly chanted about her Ghrina . About wanting Jalal's "sarr kata hua" on her feet. I wonder what this bed-raggled & bloody Jodha,kneeling in hysterical fright with anguished tears coursing down her face, what would this Jodha say to the Amer ki Raajkumaari Jodha
What would she tell her that would make her return to her "I Ghrina Jalal"'chant?
That when her husband, the man she has furiously proclaimed with Rajputani anger & arrogance, that she hates,when that same man was hovering near Death this Mughaliya Begum Jodha wasn't happy at all, but was furiously declaring how Jalal, her husband, HAS to live! How she had come to Ajmer to pray for his long life & how he CANNOT die because she , Jodha will not let him. "Hum Aapko marrne nahin denge!"
This Mughaliya Begum will laugh at the Amer ki Raajkumaari. For when she had her husband at her feet with his sarr , to do as she pleased, she cradled his head like it was a new-born baby & roared encouragement at him like a wounded tigress. If Jalal remembers even this one snippet, he will dissolve into full-blown laughter if she again voices her ghrina chant!! 🤣
Jalal at his most vulnerable, sure that he is at Death's Black Gates was a treat to watch. The way he says "Aap yeh itne yakeen ke saath kaise keh sakti hain" when Jodha ferociously told him he will NOT die, the way he struggles to voice his last regrets about his Ammi Jaan & Ruqaiyya Begum being child-less & what actually brought a few tears to my eyes- How he wishes that no--one sees him in this totally mangled & bloody state;
Because it doesn't be-fit an Emperor. Rajat was brilliant & that bit felt like a verbal Will! 👏
Points of the Day: Jalal never takes his Badi-Ammi's name. He only takes his Ammi-Jaan & Ruqaiyya's names as the two people who will be most affected by his death. His inner-most psyche knows the Truth.. And that pain-wracked "Jodha Begum.. Jodha.." ... I've been wondering strongly what he wanted to tell her!!
2.) Jodha stepping in front of Jalal & the baagh. Very important detail.
Pre-cap: THANK YOU, Ruqaiyya! 🥱
