As for the duplicate, so long as Jalal is going only by the eyes, it would be relatively easy for Mahaam to say that it was someone else, and there might even be a lady in the harem with eyes like hers. God save her! The problem for her will come when Rahim eventually speaks up, and as Ela noted, Salima corroborates his account and confirms that it was indeed Mahaam in the toshakhana that day. It would be very difficult for her to assert that she had a complete humshakal, who could enter the palace, knew where the gifts would be kept, and poisoned the kesar.

The Mullah Beqazi angle is going to come in for sure; the question is When?

As for Mahaam, my bet is that she will wriggle out using the Mullah Beqazi route. She simply cannot be cashiered so soon. But I cannot see Jalal merely sending her off to Mecca. Or in fact revealing the truth to the general public either, for think of the scandal, and the repercussions for the prestige of the Mughal sultanate! Executing Adham for killing a Minister is one thing, this would be quite different and infinitely worse. Jalal will have to bury it under some plausible window dressing.

Aunty...just one point to add..he did have Adham Khan assassinated in the palace because AK had the audacity to murder a trusted minister WITHIN Akbar's very palace...Jalal never had great regard for Adham. He was always weary of Ak's ruthless means and how he took advantage of his position...he'd taken Adham to task many times and forgave him only for the sake of MA...this was the last straw

As for Jodha's quiescence about Jalal's slur on her parvarish, what I wrote about him being reduced to weary resignation applies to her as well. They are like a couple of boxers, each of whom has landed a series of kayo punches, and both are now exhausted and ready to shake hands and call it quits!

Thank you, dear Alakh. I loved it too, above all the bazaar segment. It was very cleverly done by the script writers, and performed to perfection by both the lead artists.

The exact opposite of the Maharana Pratap scene, in fact, which was so badly conceived, written and acted. The only creature happy with it must have been Bharmal's horse, as it was relieved of its crushing burden for all the while that he and Pratap were sniping at each other!😉
