FF: Yeh Ishq hai yah Junoon hai?(upd:PG 26/aug 18)

This is my first attempt at writing a story so hopefully you all enjoy it. I'm sure there are many holes in the plot and errors with the actors, but please be patient with me. Hope you like it.

It is a dark and stormy night. The kingdom of Amer has been in a fierce battle with the Mughal empire. Aid from the other Rajput factions was too late in arriving as the Kingdom of Amer has fallen into Mughal hands. There is retribution to be paid by all residents of Amer as the Shenshah of the Mughal empire, Jalaluddin Mohammad , does not give mercy to those who defy him. Held captive is the King of Amer, Raja Bharmal, along with Queen Mainavati and jodha's sister Sukhanya. All of her brothers, save Sujamal, are dead.

During the battle, Jodha along with her maid were able to escape by using underground tunnels. She is disguised as a maid and currently taking shelter at a hindu temple not far from home. She wants to stay close, in order to get quick updates on the situation at home. She sends a note to her brother, Sujamal, not knowing that Sujamal is in fact in league with the mughals and helped them win the battle against her father.

Jodha ' I don't understand what has taken Sujamal baisa so long in getting to me. I gave him my location weeks ago, and still no response. I don't know whether we should stay here in hiding, or whether we dare venture outside to get some information on the situation at home.

Dasi ' Ji, maybe we should wait just a little bit longer. The mughals have this entire area barricaded and are checking every temple for you. We are lucky that this temple has hidden passages connected to the palace which other than your dear father, no one knows about. It was lucky that he even got the info to you in time to use it. We don't even know what has become of your sister and mother.

Jodha ' I also worry about my dear Mother and sister. I hope that at least they are being treated with respect. No word on where our father is either. I don't know what to do''this waiting and sitting is making me go crazy. I need to do something and yet I know that right now I am helpless'.that brutal, evil Jalal. This is all his doing. He has made us helpless''

In the Palace of Amer

Jalal ' Sujamal, you are indeed worthy of praise. With the information you gave us about the palace we were able to defeat the King of Amer and claim all who reside inside. However; you have failed in delivering the one item for which this all happened for. WHERE IS SHE?????

Sujamal ' (bows his head) My Shenshah, I have vowed to honour, respect and obey your command of the empire. I also vowed that I would deliver Rajkumari Jodha to you but what I did not count on was any secret passage that would lead to outside the palace. I know this palace inside and out, and I have no idea how she could have left without my knowledge. The only person who can help us is Raja Bharmal. I want to know, once you get her, will you instate me as Raja of Amer? I helped you and have been loyal. I deserve to be given my reward. Also, you promised me that you would never tell Jodha of my deception.

Jalal ' Sujamal, Sujamal, Sujamal. You speak to much and are making my head hurt. Do not dare to speak to me of loyalty and trust ' as I was not the one that betrayed my own family for a kingdom. You will get what you deserve all in due time. For now ' you better find a way to find your dear dear sister. You know she is the one I want and the one whom I will possess before we depart for Agra.

Jalal starts thinking back ' when he first saw a portrait of the fair Rajkumari Jodha. He had always heard stories of her bravery, her discontent with the Mughal rule, her complete lack of respect and contempt for him personally, but it wasn't until he had seem a portrait of her a few months back that the desire to truly own Amer came to him. And it wasn't in land that he wanted to own it''it was through Rajkumari Jodha, the star of the Kingdom of Amer''.the one whom all loved and all held in their prayers. He would have her at any cost'.

Meanwhile Sujamal leaves the Shenshah's presence and on his way to his courters gets stopped by a soldier with the correspondence that Jodha had sent weeks ago. After reading it, he has a slow sly grin on his face. Now he knows that this is what will hand him the kingdom of Amer''even if he must sacrifice Jodha for it, the cost is not too high for power and greed are lusting after Sujamal.

At the hindu temple :

Dasi ' I hear soldiers outside the temple. We must be very quiet and wait it out.

Jodha ' (listens intently to what the soliders are saying ' when all of a sudden the wall before them breaks and Mughal soldiers come running in and surround the two ladies)

How did you find us? Who do you work for? (and then that's when she sees him''''.)

Jalal slowly comes from behind the soldiers surrounding his possession. He has her right where he wants her now, owns her and can make her do anything he wants.

Soldier ' Bow before your Shenshah you filthy Rajputs'''don't you know that someone superior than you is standing before you'..

Jalal immediately turns around and stabs the soldier before jodha's eyes, she SCREAMS''.

Jalal looks at her terrified face, bloodied sword in his right hand. He grabs Jodha's arm and starts to drag her out of the temple.

Jodha ' (finally comes awake at what is happening around her) let me go you brutal, unfeeling, corpse of a human being. You have no right to manhandle me like this. Is that soldier right? Are you the Shenshah? Are you the one who has ordered Amer to be slaughtered and for my family''.. what have you done with my family'where are they'.stop I tell you. I order you to stop and answer my questions.

Jalal ' (laughs sarcastically) you are hardly in a position to order me to do anything Rajkumari Jodha. Now come with me, or I will pick you up and carry you over my shoulders. Your choice? Come respectfully or come the other way'.it makes no difference to me. (Jalal looks at her sternly'.never waivering in eye contact or seriousness)

Jodha ' (slight hesitation to her voice'.little bit of quivering) ppplease just tell me who you are?

Jalal ' All you need to know will be revealed when I want it to be revealed. For now'..come with me.

Jodha starts to get pulled by Jalal, and realizing that she has little choice right now, starts walking with him to the palace. They both arrive at the palace and Jodha sees that all the former guards have been replaced by Mughal servants / soldiers.

Jalal takes Jodha to his quarters and throws her into the room.

Jalal ' you have 15 minutes to get yourself ready in that bridal dress on the bed. Your sister and mother will be with you shortly to help you prepare. Do not do anything other than what I tell you to do, as I hold the power of life or death of your loved ones in the palm of my hand.

He starts to turn away, but then turns back around and says "Jodha, I am the Shenshah of the Mughal Empire, the one and only Jalaluddin Mohammad. By the end of this day YOU WiLL bow down before me as YOUR ruler." He then turns and walks away, locking the door behind him.

Jodha runs to the door to try to open it before he can lock it, but doesn't reach it in time. She is so overwhelmed with everything that has happened'..she doesn't know why he wants her to get ready in the red lengha, but knows that it can not be for anything good.

Jodha's mother and sister bring a fully dressed Jodha down to the mandap for her wedding '''..

Disclaimer: lol I feel like the show right now when we see 35 seconds of that stupid disclaimer for EVERY episode……

However be WARNED : For this story I'm moving fast up to and including the wedding. But after that I'm hoping to really slow down the pace. I want to get into the relationship of Jodha and Jalal and I'm sorry to say that the chapters to come might not be very favorable to our dear Jalal. Sorry in advance, and I'm taking my creative inspiration from the story of Beauty and the Beast……yes I know it's a Disney movie but there are certain similarities that I really love about Jodha / akbar and that movie…..so for now lets continue…………

Jodha's mother and sister are escorted to her room by mughal soldiers. They stand guard outside and remind them that they must not delay as the Shenshah is waiting for them.

All three hug, cry and are so happy to be together.

Mainavati –(places her hand on jodha's head) I'm so happy to see you well and unharmed my daughter. I was so worried and hoped that you could have made it outside the kingdom. What happened? How were you found?

Jodha – Maasa, I'm so happy to see the both of you. I can withstand anything to know that my family is safe. Please don't worry about me, tell me first what happened? Where is father?

Mainavati – your father is safe. When we were brought here to you, I saw a soldier escorting your father to the Shenshah…

Jodha – Ma….do not say Shenshah…he is not OUR Shenshah. That man is a coward. One who allows his soldiers to defile our temples, take our women, …

Mainavati – Bas Jodha. Bas. I can not hear anymore. We have been defeated, we are at his mercy and you must keep calm and reign in your tongue and temper. We do not know what he will do to us if you keep on disrespecting him. You must behave.

Sukanya – Maasa, Jodha is absolutely right. We are Rajputs and no man can take away our self respect and make us humble before him. That place is only reserved for our God. This Jalal, the way he took us to the dungeons like some common thief, he must be made to pay for his disrespect.

Jodha – that man….look Maasa. How can you expect me to say anything nice about him, when he wants me to get ready in the bridal lengha. What am I supposed to do…..

Jodha gets interrupted when the door gets slammed open and in walks Jalal.

Jalal – (comes forward slowly – tells the guard to take Mainavati & Sukhanya to wait outside the room) I knew you wouldn't be ready and nor would you be getting ready. That Rajput pride that you have won't allow you to follow any order that I give however; you forget that I am your match in every way. (he walks up to Jodha, face to face) I'm going to ask you one final time, will you get ready with the help of your mother and sister that I have so graciously allowed here or should I order them to leave so that I may help you get ready??? Either way you WILL wear that outfit laid out for you on the bed, including every single piece of jewellery.

Jodha – (looks at him with revulsion – and then slaps him hard on his cheek. One of her rings cuts him – a small amount of blood appears on his cheek) I knew you were a heartless, cruel bas***d but to stoop even this low. To treat me, Rajkumari Jodha, in this manner is beyond anything that I can bear. You are a pig. Get out…..get out NOW!!!!!!

Jalal – (stares at her with lust and anger – takes another step forward and brings his hand up to caress Jodha's face but Jodha moves back.) He laughs……..Mashallah……Your Rajput fire is a sight to behold. If you were anyone else I would chop off that hand however; I do not taint my possessions. And Jodha, soon you will realize that you belong to me. But this is my only warning to you, if you ever hit me again I will not be held responsible for my actions. You WILL NOT like the punishment that I will mete out to you. (he continues to stare at her….Jodha starts to feel uncomfortable)

Jodha – fine. As I have no choice and am a prisoner in my own palace I will get ready. Leave me and send my sister and mother inside to help me. (Jalal continues to stare at her…..) Didn't you hear me…I said Leave.

Jalal takes another step forward, Jodha steps back until her back hits the wall. She doesn't know what to do and Jalal is really scaring her now. She knows he is just trying to intimidate her and tries not to let it affect her, but knows that she is failing. This man could do anything……

Jalal laughs………"adab Rajkumari Jodha". I will await you below….do not delay.

Jodha slumps against the wall, the fear of the unknown with this man still alive and overtaking her thoughts. Her mother and sister come forward and pick her up…..

Sukhanya – Jodha, what does he want. What happened ?

Jodha – I fear the worst Sukhanya, Maasa. He is going to marry me, so that he can control me, own me….oh my lord, how will I be able to go through life being that man's wife. How Maasa??

Mainavati – this is the life for us women. We must adapt and overcome all trials that life has to offer and make the best of everything. I do not wish this for you, however I fear that the lives of your father and brother may be in danger If you do not comply….and what other option is there for us. There is no way for us to escape and he holds all the power at this moment.

Jodha – then at this time Maasa, Sukhanya help me get ready but no Jewellery. I will not wear even one thing from that man. Sukhanya, that lengha that we bought at the bazaar a few months ago. Go get it from my room. I will wear that and bring my best Jewellery.

Sukhanya asks the soldier for permission to go and retrieve that item. She comes back and they get Jodha ready as a true Rajputana Rajkumari…..

Jalal meanwhile is with Jodha's father and Sujamal. He tells Jodha's father that he plans on taking Jodha as his Begum and in return for marrying her he will return Amer to him, but he must declare Sujamal as his heir and in front of everyone declare that he will always respect and obey him, as the Shenshah of Hindustan. Jalal further reminds him that he will have his daughter in his position, and any news of discontent or uprising within the Kingdom of Amer will not only go badly for Amer but for its Shehzadi. Jodha's father knows that resistance right now is futile, he must bow down and obey at this time. He agrees to all terms and asks for one thing in return, that his daughter be treated with respect and that the marriage ceremony take place in the Hindu tradition. Jalal doesn't want anyone questioning the validity of the marriage and agrees that they will marry in the Hindu and Muslim tradition before they leave for Agra. The Hindu and Muslim priest are summoned to conduct their respective ceremonies.

Jalal is getting impatient and is about to order his soldier to forcibly bring Jodha down when a sudden quietness amongst the courtiers brings his attention toward the stairs. He hears her payal before he sees her……

Jodha is brought down the stairs by her mother and sister, dressed in her finery. Jalal notices what she is wearing and looks sternly at her. He tells himself that she will obey him and devises a plan for later……….. Not wanting to let everyone know that she has defied him he sits at the Mandap.

Jodha is seated beside him, and the ceremony commences. Jodha cringes when his hand brushes against hers…she knows he must have done that purposely. They go through the 7 phere. The priest passes Jalal the Sindoor, and he tells him that there is no need for that. Everyone looks confused…

Jalal takes his thumb and takes some blood from his wound on his cheek. This is the Sindoor so kindly gifted to me by my bride and proceeds to smirk while placing the "sindoor" in her mang. He then takes the Manghal Sutra and tells Jodha. When she stays silent and doesn't move, he reminds her that he holds her families lives in his control. She reluctantly moves closer and he slowly comes forward. She cringes back..but Jalal slowly shakes his head and she forces herself to stay still. He places the Mungal Sutra around her neck. Priest tells everyone that the marriage is now complete and for the both of them to remember the vows that have taken place today.

Jalal takes jodha's hand before she has time to resist and they both get married again through the Islamic tradition. (sorry….I know nothing about what goes on for this.)

After the ceremony, Jodha gets blessings from her family while Jalal waits for her outside to ensure all is in order for their departure. She has just finished hugging her family when Jalal comes and tells her its time to go.

Jodha – but I have not even had time to pack any of my belongings…… I need a few days at least…why are we leaving so suddenly?

Jalal – You do NOT question me. Go now with that soldier, we depart immediately. I don't need to inform you of this, but we are leaving for Agra where you will meet my family. They do not know that I have married you, and I wish to depart immediately. Go now…

Jodha reluctantly leaves her family, knowing that she will never see them again. Jalal will never let her visit as she knows that his desire is to control her every movement, her every thought, her every heart beat. He only thinks of me as a possession and possessions do not do anything without the authorization of their master.

Never…she thinks. Never will I allow him to control me like a puppet. If he thinks that he is my match, then I will show him that he has met his match as well. If he wishes to control through brutality and domination, then I will counter all his moves with my brains and respect for human life. He wants to extract all the love from within me….this I will not allow. Jalal – beware, for this Shehzadi will match your every move with one of her own…..
