Now On to the point you asked me to elaborate on yesterday. Ofc this is all water down the Thames now but I made that remark about Gordian knot more based on how I saw the story pan out initially and due to my interest in analysing scenesâŚđ so just alluding to thatâŚvalse bahut dinon baad bakwas karne ka mauka mila đđđ
My perception of the story when I started watching it was always that the conflict in this love tale was largely personality drivenâŚ. There was no relevance for Arshi per se in the tale which is why she wasnât even on the montage to begin withâŚFrom the get go the love tale narrated was of Ani and Jâs⌠Aniâs delayed realisation of the deep love he felt for J was the personality contribution from Aniâs side providing one aspect of the conflict in this tale. I have often said that Aniâs slow and organic understanding of love was the quintessence of this taleâŚon the other hand was J who despite herself was forming notions of association for this man and was part intrigued, exasperated and part enamoured by this man in the initial phase⌠At various junctures, her heart defied her initial promise of not wanting to cause trouble in Ani-Arshi paradise when confronted with Aniâs actions of concern that she read as love ( her heart wished for it but she didnât have the courage to wish for it in real) Itâs perhaps not too hard to conjecture what trajectory the tale might have taken if Ani had brought her home as his wifeâŚ. đ but it was not to be and in a way for me that was the charm of this tale cos I thought one must accept a bond not one that is imposed on usâŚand so this love tale made sense to me to see how these both will feel that HAQ for each other and who will take the steps to realise ( as in force the issue) it. In my reckoning it had to be J and J alone because as time went by ( till KASHMIR) her hard wiring had begun to happen⌠HARD WIRING THAT THIS LOVE WAS FUTILE COS IN HER ASSESSMENT nothing would come of it not because Ani didnât love her but because she felt that Ani wouldnât own up to it completely as she didnât see signs of Ani taking any concrete steps to disentangle from Arshi⌠Ani never did cos his realisation of love was at a strange crossroad. It was incumbent on Jâs acquiescence not independent of it. For me in this tale Ani reaches the destination a tad late and Jâs expects Ani reaching on time without telling whatâs exactly on her mind đđ - the Twain donât meet!!

A sort of inverse proportionality had appeared in the tale until Kashmir . When she left for Kashmir, Ani was getting more persistent and J had made peace with her situation of moving on. Itâs hard for me to say if moral dilemma had made that much of an impact on J at that point or was it merely her fear that things will be messy due to which after recognising that Ani was attracted to her, she discouraged him not having the courage to face the aftermath of Ani does not leave Arshi..
Anyways the floodgates of emotions actually open at Kashmir, when the wedding was thwarted by Panditji but as always Leena was so Kanjoos in revealing Jâs pov that most just misunderstood Jâs outburst at the hotel room post Rahul Shaadi fixing fiasco. The real Jhanak was visible on that day more than at any other time ( save for HA track) Jhanak at her rawest egged on by Panditji proclamation and incensed that Ani was marrying her off she blasts him and comes close to blurting out that she wants the haq
This is followed by the most pivotal phase of this plotline where they have that night of passion and their love is all but sealed but disaster strikes when Ani papers over the incident. ( due to delirium) This was pretty much the among the last nails in the coffin of relationship hardening Jâs stance of not wanting to submit to what she reads as Aniâs wishy washiness ( but which in reality was only Ani worried about how to break her resolve of the guard that J had put up)
Since Jâs perspective in this tale has only been shared with us in fits and starts and her insults and barbs we can only conjecture what is it that she really wants!! Leena has served a very convoluted Jhanak from the post intimacy incident that I have to conclude that the Gordion knot ( a seemingly intractable problem) can only be cut by J herself at some point, if ever. At first I saw this tale as one of moral dilemma but after the Jâs baby tumour track, the paradigm had shifted and that angle only was expedient at best. My biggest problem with Jâs characterisation has been that after the HA track, her only fightback at accepting the relationship as Ani was forthcoming and she knew it too, was a footnote only meant to exacerbate the episode count. It has not served any purpose in the tale and Leena added a layer to her moral dilemma without giving it any substance. My issue hasnât been the duality but her lack of acknowledgement of it even in remote terms.
Priya has often mentioned that J has sought to punish Ani for not accepting her⌠I donât think so cos if it were soâŚshe wouldnât have agreed to marry Ani in a whisper on knowing he is dying. She knew Ani accepted her for a long time Her non acceptance of the relationship in totality could have been hinging on escaping the home wrecker tag but it wasnât ever the whole part of how j was presented to us.
I read J as insanely proud of the fact that Ani and she share a relationship that needed no tags and would exist in its special form without any societal constructs⌠when that illusion broke, I expected a broken J not a defiant J. I expected a J who comes to the sad understanding that in this world there is perhaps some value to set store by for relationships that are socially accepted. Ofc the point she has reached is one of no return and her lashing out would have made sense if the hypocrisy or duality was confronted in real terms and not in the rhetorical way it was served. Instead of giving Didi the three day Vidai they needed to write the sangeet episode a lot better than that 2 min noodle episode.
Today her question about Haq revisits that premise but by missing all the steps in between. This problem will be solved ( or never) only if J defines her problem statement.
sorry Neera for such a long long post.. Bahut din baat itna bak bak kiya đđđ
