Just finished watching today's episode. This Basu family's negativity is just too much ! A girl is dying and they are still blaming her saying she did this to frame them..like what are they smoking?! I feel like basic humanity is dead in this house.
This suicide attempt is going to be such an eye opener for Ani. Jhanak always complained about the humiliation she has to face in his house, but his answer was always to ignore it and focus on her career. But I'm so glad Choton pointed out today how difficult it can be to live in such an environment, and that Ani would never understand because he's never been at the receiving end of it. I feel like Ani with all his traits of being a kind and helpful guy, he never really stopped his family from humiliating Choton, Appu and Appus mum. He would try and diffuse the situation but never really took a firm stand against his family for it. I wonder why? Was it because he'd seen it all his life that it seemed normal ? He obviously knows it's wrong to talk to someone like that. Everytime the family start bashing Choton or Appu, in my head I'm thinking, Ani take a stand, say something. But he just tries to put an end to it rather than fighting back, or explaining that it's wrong to speak to them in that way.
Bubble ji, I noticed the same thing. As someone else mentioned, he is kind of displaying a similar reaction to even his own relationship with Arshi. He is kind of ignoring to keep the situation from exploding and maintain status quo as it is his family, this nature can become a problem in the future if Jhanak and Aniruddh get together. He will always try to diffuse the situation and it oftentimes will make him disregard Jhnak's feelings which we are already getting a sneak peek at. Hopefully with Jhanak's suicide attempt, I think he will change and become bolder in questioning and taking a stand at least more than before.
Regarding Ani's family, I wish they would show more scenes that can serve to flesh out the characters more with respect to how they behave with each other besides concentrating on humiliating Jhanak and plotting behind the back. It is interesting to see the equation between Anjana, Bipasha and Tanuja where Bipasha parrots Tanuja but insults Anjana all the time. All the while, Tanuja takes a dig at Bipasha and Lal while she can regarding money matters. I also wish there were more scenes between Ani and his parents in private as it is becoming harder day by day to even think Ani is actually their son. It also makes it hard to think or attach any positive emotions to them. Also, I am not surprised how this classist mentality comes for Shubho and Tanuja. The grandparents themselves show kind of elite mindset. They are not very warm people, even for Appu they are only conditionally supportive. See how Dadobhai talked to Jhanak, saying she can never compare to Arshi just because she is a maid and good at housework. These people keep trying to put Jhanak down because they also are insecure somewhat that she might pose problems for Arshi whom they chose in her relationship with Ani as they see Ani getting very emotionally attached and protective towards her day by day. They are also stupid as they are going about it the wrong way. This will only make Ani more attached on Jhanak.
The minute Jhanak leaves for Srinagar, I am sure Ani will miss her a lot and will come to realize he wants her in his life. Hope we get a wonderful sequence similar to the third pagdandiya trip in Imlie season 1.
