I never said your opinion was rubbish. I said your statement about Raghav doing only 'OTT drama with Shakti' was rubbish.

Anyway, you like apples, I like pears. šŸ˜†

Peace out.

This season is so damn boring. The two reasons I am watching are Sid Nigam's entry as wildcard and Shantanu. Otherwise who wants to watch this crap show ?

Exactly like shows airing before 7 pm are not expected to give amazing trps coz even they don't fall in the prime time slot category. YHM in its 11 pm slot never gave the kind of ratings it did after it shifted to 7:30 . However, YHM during its 11 pm days had much better content than its 7:30 pm days. Problem here also is JDJ doesn't end at 11 pm and it stretches till 11:30-45 which is too late
And about hosting, DID has been hosted by non dancers all through out . I don't see how that is an issue. Host's job is to make the show entertaining.
This time JDJ has less GEC faces than any year or even compared to last season. And also this year they easily let go off popular GEC faces when they dint put up a good performance.
Where they screwed it I think is, they should have aired it at 9 pm . 24 should have aired at 10. 24 is a total washout.
JDJ even with such a late time slot is still giving average trps which is surprising . And pretty close to last year's trps's of some epis even though last year it aired at 9 pm.
I wish content was the king you know. SYTCD Indian version barely had TRPS even though dancing was so good. Shocking it was.
JDJ is in its 9th year , DID also has been running for many years and hence its trps suffered also . D+ is in its 2nd. I hope it can keep up but with time that fresh factor fizzles away no matter what you do.

Look lets not drag the time slot issue but even as you said content is the king. If your show is good enough it will attract audience, if not then there are many shows which air at chief slots but hardly grabs the eyeballs. Yes a show in its 9th season will face more issues to keep it up compared to a show in ts 2nd. But that's the thing after the fresh thing dies out how you maintain the charm so that ppl be elated to watch your show. Ppl waited for jdj. The show too would have been great, considering the time slot and everything...but as you see this season is a problem in its every mean. Like every alternate thing going on makes us say that this show is a disappointment. Be it unfair treatment or favourism...don't you think the neutral viewers must have got irritated with it and must have stopped seeing. I don't know about the coming years but dance plus currently is not going in a wrong direction. Had Jhalak to done it then it would have got greater trps.

And please, Raghav has a way, way better script than just flirting with Shakti. Actually, in the last couple of episodes, I don't even remember him flirting with Shakti. He's spontaneous and perky. That's a GOOD thing.

All Manish has done so far is tease Jacqueline and compare contestants score. I love Manish, but it's getting old. Either whoever is writing the script thought Manish would do his job just by talking. Throw in a couple of innuendoes at KJo while at it. It's funny the first time, after 5 times, it makes me want to roll my eyes.

I don't know about years later but currently Raghav is doing a great job. May be because he is fresh but then too years later he needs to bring in some changes and keep his anchoring charm which was not done by Manish.

I feel Manish is too restricted this season. Maybe it is the pressure of carrying forward the show now that he knows he is one of the major USPs this show has. I love Manish when he improvises and let's his natural humour shine through. It is refreshing. The thing with Raghav is the way he talks. It is the inflection in his voice. It makes you feel as if you are having a conversation with him. It is just so common and relatable. It's like you expect him to be the same way when the camera is not around. His goofiness mostly does not feel made up. Also yes, I agree with Pinks06 on this that he does more than flirt with Shakti. The emotional support he lends to the contestants is genuine and heartfelt. His love for them is palpable. He does not stand on a pedestal. He takes out his handkerchief and wipes the face of a crying contestant and hugs him and says "koi nahi bhai, chalege naa Nepal show khatam hone ke baad".
The thing with Manish is I can feel that he is putting on a show and while it is entertaining (when not repetitive) it still lacks heart. I never even knew that it was missing till I saw Raghav. I want Manish to be a bit more...real. Like I want to feel that yes, this is the real Manish. Teasing contestants is good fun. But now and then I want to watch him lend a shoulder to someone struggling and be serious. It is all about balance. More importantly I personally just want back that inflection in his voice. That thing that makes me feel like Manish is real and relatable. I want to laugh at his jokes again without cringing at the corniness. I want that Manish. The one with sarcastic dry humour that used to make me grin.
But then again that might just be me. Maybe I don't feel connected to him anymore. And maybe others do. I can't expect everybody to agree. Humour depends on perspective. I personally like dry humour more than slapstick humour. Maybe what works for other does not work for me..
Either way I respect your opinion.
P. S. Jdj is monstrously unfair this season. That is also one of the reasons I don't like to watch the show and only watch shantanu. Dance +for most part has been surprisingly fair and transparent

@ bold - Summed it up pretty well in a single phrase.

THIS is what I was trying to get across. Manish isn't heartfelt anymore. He used to be awesome at this. Coming from someone who used to love watching him, it's now cringeworthy as you perfectly said. It doesn't come from the heart. The whole 'best host on Indian tv' tag got to him. It looks like he comes to do his job, gets his job done, and goes away. There's no connection. Forget the contestants, there's hardly any bonding with judges. And no, I don't consider flirting with Jacqueline or saying two lines to KJo a bond.

Raghav on the other hand, isn't only spontaneous and quirky; he's emotionally invested in the show. It feels as if should Remo as him to host the show without pay also, he'd do it. Sure he probably won't, but it feels as such. And isn't that what matters? He has a connection with every single person on that set. Hell he even greets the Dada making tea outside while practicing his lines (Caught that in some offscreen BTS!). A host should connect all the threads in a show. Sure, entertainment is one, but repetitive comedy gets you only so far. Dance+ doesn't even need any publicity and yet it feels like a family. It attracts me, and I'm sure many others. Whether you air it at 8 pm, or 10 pm would hardly matter according to me. The magic isn't in the grandiosity. It's in the little things.

I would be the happiest person to see Manish back to what he used to be. I see glimpses coming back now and then, and I hope someone can actually put it across to him. At least it would make me want to watch JDJ, barring Shan's acts. 🄱

I could kiss you for that line. Exactly!!!! See THAT IS WHAT IS MISSING. And it has been missing the last season as well. FAMILY! YES.
Sorry if I seem too excited but I have been trying to work out what has been wrong with the show for me to feel so disconnected to it. And I finally have the answer. It is because the coziness and warmth that used to be a part of this show is GONE! JDJ has lost the family. MD chali gayi, Remo left the show and some of the best choreographers on the show went away.
The set of JDJ used to be a family and that got across to us. So we stuck through even the most cringeworthy gimmicks at the time. Because when it happens between family, it does not feel so odd.
Dance + has that now. It has the FAMILY! And I keep saying family in capslock is because that is key. That is the key to why I don't feel awkward watching Raghav do the most ridiculous stuff onscreen. It is because of the warmth and love that exists between everyone on that show. It is tangible. It is REAL. It is not for the screen. It is just how it is and how cool is that. The respect of Dharmesh, Punit, Shakti and Raghav for Remo brings a smile to my lips and warms me all over. The way Remo reciprocates their affection has made my eye leak quite a few times. You are so so right when you say it is the little things that makes an audience want to invest themselves in a show. Little things that they do. The way the captains and the host cheer for each other, cheer and root for the contestants, the way they tease but adore each other is so heartfelt and real. They love each other. And it is adorable and heartwarming to watch. So you laugh with them, cry with them, invest yourself in them.
JDJ on the other hand feels so impersonal now. Are they friends? Forget being friends, do they even know each other properly? KJo obviously can't care less about Jacqueline and Jacqueline is just there. Ganesh while an okay judge (debatable) has no connection whatsoever to anyone. Nobody has any connection to anybody else. It is like you brought a group of strangers together and then put them in a superbly awkward situation. We don't get to see interactions between the contestants. And if you try to pull off ridiculous gestures and dirty innuendos in a show where they are all just a bunch of strangers anyway (the way it looks to me at least) then it is an epic fail. The best it does is make me roll my eyes, the worst it does is make me cringe. And anyways, dirty innuendos are not okay in any show. Remember how spitting mad I was when the same thing happened in dance plus. And that was just once. In JDJ it happens everyday. A show resorts to innuendos only when it has run out of genuine humour. Contrary to what Rangela thinks, an audience, even the most illiterate ones can instinctively feel what's real and what's not. JDJ is getting more caricature-ish every year to a point where I just want to shake them all so badly. Like really Manish, is that how you talk in real life? Par chalo your script is bad. You have an excuse. KJo aap real life mein aise baat karte ho? Jacqueline, please don't try and speak hindi. Ganesh, tumhe kya bolu. I want to like you but I am still pissed at you for scoring Shantanu so low in he face-off.
And poor Shantanu who is as real a person as they come is stuck in this joke of a show that is completely fake. And instead of rewarding Shantanu, they give him marks which are honestly an insult. Ughghghgh!!!!
Chalo chchodo meko toh dekhna hi nahi he. I would appreciate it even someone could tell me when Shantanu dances, the timing so that I can watch him and then be done. Bas bhai, I am done

@ M.Kishi - It's exactly what I do. Skip to Shantanu's dance directly. Sometimes I don't even wait for the scores. Sirf usko dekhne ka maan kiya toh dekh liya. :) Agar mood acha ho, toh I'll tolerate 2-3 dances before him.

For the rest, D+ pe baat karegein, wrong forum. :D
