One of television's most-loved actresses and currently a finalist on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded, Sanaya Irani gets candid about relationships, TV and romance
1. "The most memorable moment in my career was when I got the role of Khushi on Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? That was one role that I really wanted to play."
2. "I started my career with advertisements and later I realised I wanted to go beyond the 60 seconds, I wanted to do something challenging and more interesting."
3. "Honestly, I'm okay with people addressing me by my characters' names. My characters are who they see in their houses every single day and so it's fair enough when people call me Khushi, Paro (Rangrasiya) or Chhanchhan (Chhanchhan). Of course, it's really amazing that after all these years, I now have people who come to me and call me Sanaya. That feels really good."
4. "My ideal partner would be Mohit (Sehgal) and of course I would prefer a love marriage because I am in love. Also, I don't know how arranged marriages work. I've always dreamt of looking pretty in a beautiful gown on the beach and having not more than 50 people at my wedding, which will be followed by a night-long party."
5. "I laugh through all my romantic scenes, be they with Mohit, Barun (Sobti) or Ashish (Sharma). Mohit used to get harassed when we did romantic scenes together because I'd always laugh through them. I don't know how they manage to come out so wow but it's hilarious when we're filming."
6. "I believe that marriage shouldn't really change anything but on TV you are made to play the perfect bahu and wife who does everything for the husband and family. I'm not like that as Sanaya. For me, it works both ways."
7. "I don't think bahus these days are any different. I don't watch a lot of Hindi television shows...but I think most on-screen daughter-in-laws are still like the Tulsis and Parvatis of earlier years."
8. "Currently, I'm focussing only on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded. If someone offers me a show after Jhalak, I will hopefully do it. I now want to do a challenging role. I want to pursue something really different."
9. "If Yash Chopra's banner or Karan Johar would offer me a film, I would surely love to branch out to Bollywood. Otherwise, not really."
