Again, you're putting words into my mouth. I never said you are wrong. I just said you are BIASED. Lauren fans who say Lauren is the best are also BIASED. All I'm saying is that the result of any poll will be fair only if votes are taken from people who are not a fan of either Shakti OR Lauren.

Right now, this poll and its results are unfair, and if you think it's fair then I don't know what to say.

maybe...i wont deny...bt i want to stick to the topic...for once read my cmnt before judging me as her fanatic...
lauren nd shakti are two brilliant dancers...somewhere lauren is bttr..smwhere shakti.. wat we gave as reasoning was their performance in SP show no more kamzor where they danced alternatively...
just like ppl here compare performances..we found that situation apt for judging nd we clearly stated THERE she had an edge over lauren nd not evry where just like others declared lauren best coz of her shama-parwana act...
we DID justify our opinion...bt we were termed as blind shakti supporters...
now..justify this...PLEASE??

I already explained this to you before.

When you are a fan of any celebrity, you are biased towards them. So when they do anything - dance, sing, act, walk, talk, you will think it's better than what another celebrity does. Your reasoning for why it is better is biased because as they say, love is blind; and you only see the best in your favourite celebrity. Because you love them so much only their plus points will shine and their negative points will be brushed under the carpet. You look at them with biased eyes while random strangers will not look at them with love and will only see them for what they do.

I'm not judging you as a fanatic...nor am I saying that you personally are not judging fairly - yes you are biased and so you will never give a 100% clear judgement but you may give a somewhat clear judgement because like you said, you are not a fanatic. However, many other fans - not just Shakti fans - but many fans only see the best of their celebrity and always choose them as the best of everything simply because they love them and look up to them. If that user who said Lauren is the best because of her shama-parwana act is a fan of Lauren's then she is also biased.

Ok anyway - this discussion has been long enough. It was good talking to you. Some think Shakti is the best, some think Lauren is the best; I think all that means is that both are amazing dancers and some just prefer one over the other - but both are the best.

nd honestly..these two cant be compared..nd again..we gave opinion nd did nt force it on others...

They can be compared because they are both amazing dancers and have danced on the same platform (one is still dancing). I know you are not forcing your opinion on others. All I'm saying is that India Forums is not a fair place to determine who is a better dancer IF you even have to determine that. India Forums is not a fair place to determine anything - I'm sure you know that the top 5 actors on the IF rankings have crazy fan following and most of these fans think their celebrity is the best no matter what and they believe their favourite celebrity is perfect and can do no wrong. They're wrong, they're only biased. And so India Forums is not a good place to get balanced and unbiased opinions. That's all. 😊

In another poll I had voted for Lauren but didn't give any reasons, hence I feel it necessary to do so here.

When comparing the two I personally feel that Lauren has the upper-hand. Her technicalities are much more refined than that of Shakti. This may be due to experience or the fact that Lauren has worked with top choreographers in the US (and perhaps the world). Any professional dancer could easily point out that Lauren is also far more trained when it comes to contemporary which happens to be Shakti's forte as well.

Also, I have followed Shakti since DID and have rooted for her to win then the competition. I feel she is one of the best dancers India has produced but she has a long way to go. She has proved that she can do hip-hop, contemporary, classical etc. However, the reason why I haven't chosen her over Lauren is because she still lacks the strong technique. This may not be a big deal for many but it is for dancers and judges as well.

Many have said that they connect with one more than the other. For me, watching Shakti perform so many times has become repetitive. I haven't seen anything innovative from her whether it's in JDJ or in other platforms apart from DID. DID after season 2 has gotten dancers who tried even more difficult things as well, for example Swarali. I felt the only performance where she really connected was her dedication to her parents but otherwise I haven't felt much. For people who think Lauren can't express, please watch the Shama-Parwana act.

Lastly, when judging only in terms of JDJ, I do expect a lot from trained dancers. Whether it was Lauren, Isha or Sushant. I had a lot of expectations and the same goes for Shakti. It's not me hating on her or taking a dig. I am a dancer and a member of the audience who has an opinion and expectations. So far, Shakti has no doubt given good performances but they weren't anything that blew me away.

With all the arguments put forward, I was tempted to give mine.. To shakti fans as well as lauren fans, dont vote in a poll with the hopes dat the one u voted fr will be leading.. There are max 15 ppl who are active shakti fans.. rest are neutral.If so many liked shakti lets just try to live with the fact the she is BETTER in d art of dancing. Clarifying before hand that I'm nt a ArSha/kriya/blindly in love fan. And talking abt variety, she has done ballet, tango, indian contemporary etc so lets give her a freaking break!

I am not a fan of Lauren or Shakti...but I find Lauren clearly better than Shakti...I have never seen Shakti in DID nd have see perform only on Jhalak,honestly, I only liked her first performance on Teri Deewani...I had heard a lot about her before JDJ that she is a terrific dancer,so my expectation from Shakti were clearly high,but I am not satisfied with her performances so far...yes her acts are good,but there is nothing magical about it, whereas Lauren's performances last year were very good nd I find her more trained than Shakti nd a better dancer , although I felt that being a non-Indian, Lauren didn't had that natural ada...but still she emoted well...so I'll say Lauren is better than Shakti in many ways...

But offcourse,Shakti fans won't agree as they are the Fans nd so they are likely to be biased as they love Shakti...
